I'm sorry

Dennis,

It's about time you apologized!!!! :) major joke - lol. You owe no apology.

What is clear from watching you play and your feeling the need to apologize is: your passion for the game, for your teammates, and the USA. Love your enthusiasm, passion and game. You are too big and tough to have such thin skin, USA will get them next year.

We're glad you were a part of team USA, hope you make it next year.

Dave

Big Perm read my mind

Dennis.....you owe nobody an apology regarding your shot.....we all miss shots....and truth be told, I think the vast majority of AZ realizes that.....I do thinks it's classy you apologized to your team, even though you didn't have to do that either....

A few people did express what I believe to be a valid concern.....it appears you may have made a post or two to drum up some votes here and then disappeared.....people might have felt a little used, but you wouldn't have been the first.....a few times a year a new player or old great will show up to drum up support for something, and then disappear shortly thereafter, so it's nothing new.....AZ is a great family - I hope you'll try to post from time to time and share some of your valuable knowledge with this group.....I think you'll find you have a ton of fans and very few detractors....

All the best to you and yours.....

Big Perm,
You read my mind on your post. Very well said.

Dennis, I posted somewhere else that it's very unfair to "blame" anyone who was trying their best. Honestly, I feel kind of sad for someone who does try so hard and the results were less than you expected. That's let down enough for anybody without being ganged over by some people who will never be even close to the situation you and the other fellas found themselves in.

The one thing I would like to say is that, like Big Perm mentioned, we would like it if you could maybe post some of your insights, thoughts and ideas from time to time. You owe nobody here anything, but you did find it easy enough to type during your campaign to get selected last year.

Take it as a compliment that people are interested in what you have to say. If I was a pro and nobody wanted me to contribute here, I'd have to ask myself what did I do wrong? But that you are asked to just spend maybe 10 minutes a week or month or whatever here posting whatever, well, it just looks much better than coming on to petition or to say thanks for the votes.

Shannon Daulton, John Schmidt, Earl Strickland, Grady Mathews, Bill Incardona, Allen Hopkins, Buddy Hall & Nick Varner are my favorite players. I love it when I read something they wrote or when someone else relays stories about them. You have plenty of fans here who consider you among their favorite players. If you could find a few minutes to post your thoughts on something, I'm sure they'd be so appreciative!

Whatever the case, you owe nobody any apologies for any missed shot. And you're under no obligation to ever post here except when you want to, so you don't owe any apologies for not posting much either.

I guess the bottom line is that each pro player has their own personality and it's up to him or her if they want to build their fan base or not.

Good luck in all your future endeavers and thanks for representing team USA.

I wasn't trying to get lower on the rail!! I was just trying to get to the center of the table and I under cut the seven and hit it a little funny because I was nervous and the cue ball slid off the rail, if you watch the replay you will see I put my hand down in the center of the table showing where I wanted to get I got a little distracted because the crowd made noise and the ref had to reset the clock NO EXCUSES I should have took more time walked around the table one more time!! Well I am sorry to anyone and everyone who thinks its my fault!! Its hard enough to deal with as it is!! I told my team I felt responsible and they said "if you would have won that match would you have said you won us the cup" and I said no and they said WELL you didn't lose it for us were still in it and if we lose its a team loss and if we win its a team win!! I think the whole team could have played better WE ALL TRIED ARE HARDEST AND GAVE IT ARE ALL IT WAS A GREAT TEAM!! I did have one great match with Shane though!! would have been 2 great matches if I beat DAZ I would have been the only one on are team with a winning record instead I ended the cup 3-3. Again I'm sorry to anyone who thinks it my fault I'm sorry! Dennis Hatch

I've enjoyed watching you since the "motorhome" days, that fire in your eyes is ever present. There was never a doubt in my mind you BELONG on the Mosconi Cup team as did your team mates. Being in a hostile environment seemd to not bother you in the least, in fact I think you thrive on it as much as anyone. FAULT is no ones...everyone miss's including every hater and miserable human that felt the need to bash you yet none of them has the tallent or the courage to fade it like you do.

I, for one and proud to know you and VERY proud you had the chance to represent our counrty the last two yrs, hopefully a few more.

"Big" Steve Ferraro

A few years ago when Earl and Rodney still had the most dominant (by far!) records in all the Mosconi Cup players yet there were many critics on here who complained that they sucked and should be off the team. Either because they were ignorant of the actual results, or chose to ignore them.

Now we've got Dennis, last year's extremely deserved MVP, and even in losing this year the player with the best record on Team USA, and what is happening here? A big magnifying glass over a dogged positional shot. It would be just as easy, perhaps easier to put the same magnifying glass on many other misses by SVB or others.

And to the person who pointed out Dennis' clutch shot on the 4 ball, after Rodney was chicken to shoot it, good point. So maybe Dennis missed a shot he should have made, meanwhile he made several shots he could have missed without anyone batting an eye.

The break was the issue. I couldn't believe how often USA came up dry or had illegal breaks (not enough balls past the headstring) with control passed back to Team Europe. Then Europe broke, made 2-3 balls and had perfect shape on the lowest ball. Nobody can fade that, especially in a short race.

In other words, if things were reversed and Team USA had the break+layouts that Europe had, and vice-versa, I think USA would have won.

I hope Dennis is back next year. Clutch player and fun to watch.

Its ok !

Get your head up man ! You need not say I am sorry to none of us , because there is not a single person on here that walks on water , we ALL miss . You are beating yourself up over some games that most of us will never be able to play as good as . As said many times already , its a team competition !!

No need for an apology. Whatsoever.

Thanks for stopping by here, (almost) all of us appreciate it. And those who don't can get over themselves... Please don't let those who would anonymously disparage you here keep you from joining in when it suits you. It is a real treat when a pro takes the time to join in our conversations here, and it would be a shame for you to let the loudmouths keep you away.

Again, no apologies, and thanks for your efforts.

The apology is owed to Dennis

I don't think Dennis owes an apology for being human, but I do think an apology is owed to Dennis by the ones ridiculing him for making a mistake. Playing in the cup under that pressure, representing ALL of us Americans & doing a d*** fine job at it too I might add is something 99% of us will never know. Whether you won or lost every American should feel proud to have you representing us.

Ignore it, the ones doing the criticizing could only dream of having your ability, heart, and accomplishments in this game. Happy holidays ahead Dennis, another year is comming and I'm sure you will be back. Not sure if the ones chose to play you are gonna like it as I got a feeling this may light a fire that some opponents aren't gonna like. Then we are gonna see where the chirpers are!

2011 year of The Hatchetman!

Those who questioned your shot wouldn't have even been able to stand under the pressure, let alone make shot decisions.

Nobody can or should criticise you for that shot, it's a mistake under the utmost pressures, and one that you probably wouldn't make 99 times out of 100, but for whatever reason, it did happen. You shouldn't feel the need to apologise to anyone but your team-mates, and even then it's only for the end result in that match - you can't control every moment of play or the outcome of the Cup as a whole...

The only thing I would say having been there on the Saturday night, was that in the aftermath I saw you in the foyer outside the balcony area looking like you were about to leave the venue rather than staying to support the rest of your team in the last match of the evening that was already underway. I think that may be a slight difference in the two teams, as the Europeans were there cheerleading and supporting from the sidelines at all times, whether they had already played and lost previously, and it seemed they had a much better overall team spirit.

It was a great event, and I thoroughly enjoyed the play from all 10 players as well as the atmosphere as a whole, both in and around the arena. Europe certainly enjoyed the week, but I'm sure all the US team members will learn and be even more keen to make up for it next year. Hope the atmosphere in Vegas is something similar, I know a lot of Europeans are very keen to visit! :)

since all remarks have been from americans by now, as it seems, I got to put in my 2 cents (or in honor ofthis great event my 2 pence ;) )

Dennis, as many others stated before, I believe, that you are the heart and soul of the US team, the one person that cheers and pushes, when others would give up, the one person that stands up and plays the game for the crowd, and believe me, even if this is not shown, I bet 90% of the European fans love you forthe show AND for your more than excellent play (and hate you as much for stealing our points this way^^)

I honestly do not believe that any team was much better or worse this year, it was a close call with many mistakes on either side and compared to last year a European TEAM instead of a bunch of great single players...

You could feel that there was much more talk and fun in between out team and at the same time, the US team was struggling a bit finding the same heart they had in Vegas last year, however you and also Jonny played your part well and hopefully there will be many more MCs like this with you guys...

Thanks for the show to both teams and congrats to Team Europe!

Also a big thank you to the fans, who as far as I think really managed to bring up a burning hot atmosphere without being rude or unfair...

Sorry that I drifted away a bit...

Really if there is anybody who thinks you would owe anybody an appology, then he must have seen a different Dennis Hatch, that I saw on the stream...

Still I hope, that our guys will keep the cup next year again ;)

Dennis, you were the heart of the US team. You definitely do NOT need to apologize. You made one mistake on shape under tremendous amounts of pressure. Dont focus on that shot because you need to focus on all the positive you did for the team. You played amazing safeties. You made tough jump shots and got position on them. You did so much for that team and dug them out of so many holes, you cant beat yourself up. All that said i had a tremendous amount of respect for you and your game before i ever read this post. And now reading what you wrote makes me respect you even more. I hope to see you go out and kick some ass at the Turning Stone. You deserve it.

Thats just crazy Dennis. You owe no one an apology, especially the one or two troll s h i t disturbers who started the thread blaming you.
There is no I in TEAM. Everyone works together. All for one and one for all.
Look at the final match with Corey and Ralph. Corey missed a couple and Ralph did the same right behind him. The rest of us can only imagine what it would be like to hold your nerves at bay and deal with the pressure that both teams had to.

The one thing that I admired about yourself is that after the final game was over and the interviews began, you were the only one that had a smile on your face.

Thanks for thinking of us

My disappointed was short lived because of you & your team's achievements. Team USA will come back hard! See ya next year.

Talk about Ef-ups! You should have seen the straight in 9-ball I missed to
lose in a Scotch-Doubles tourney last Sunday. That was a REAL EF_UP!!!
Oh well. It's happened before and it will happen again. And I guarantee you
it's happened to every one of your detractors, so Ef-them and

FOGETABOUDIT! (That's the only Italian I know)

I hope next years is as exciting as this years was. You'll get them next year. Thanks for the memories (and clip art :D).

Dennis.....you're out of your mind if you're wasting a single second of your life worrying about this.

People will ALWAYS criticize, whether you win or lose. I guess people just feel comfort in pulling down those who have achieved success. Jealousy is a funny thing.

As for the successful, you are one such person (and rightfully so). Prior to this years Mosconi, I was admittedly on the fence towards you. Seeing your passion this year, coupled with how kind you've been to me (a total stranger), you've definitely won me over.

I look forward to seeing you play again soon, and I have no doubt whatsoever that you will indeed raise that cup once again.

I said it before, it won't be the last time you or anyone else gets out of shape. Keep on keeping on until next year.
