I just put this in a thread but thought it would make a good thread:

No matter what I'm the new Sheriff in town. I'm not KT promising to make pool players rich, I dont have anything to sell, what I want to do Is generate interest in pool and pool has pleanty of good players, Pool needs a charcter and thats me. I'm not a one trick pony and will carry the day until I leave pool again, Years ago I was a little known rail bird/player but not any more, I'm far far from being a top player but I'm good action, a charcter(something pool needs badly) and my goal is to be loved/liked/respected/tollerated. I hope no one hates me, if you do please confront me.

I will carry the day and I will be in the 10 ball ring game next year and anything else I can manage, I'm trying to get a deal with TAR to come play in SD every 3-6 months if there are enough buys, big $$$ and me getting a big spot. I came to Nashville to play Bartrum but my back is to bad to play period. You can bet that I will be fun to watch in action as I talk to the balls, rails, etc not to shark who I'm playing if I bother them I shut up, I'm a gentalman to play, but I believe the balls do listen.

Eric's goal is to make "Fatboy" a household name in pool, give pool a shot in the arm and show people that anyone can have fun playing pool. I been around pool since 85 dropped out of the "scene" for 10 years but still played 6 of the 10 I was off the radar, when I came back I decided I wanted to do something other than be a rail bird and unknown player that has my plan here since day one and until I had a plan I kept myself mostly private(thanks to the 30 of you who respected that) some guys I made friends with here and not one of them sold me out, good solid stand up guys, you know who you are thanks again!!!. Its not an ego thing, i swear on my moms grave its to show people pool is fun, and anyone can make it fun. This is what pool needs not the B-itching, nits, negitative attitude that permiates pool. I cant fix it but I'm gonna do my best to make pool a fun game, didnt we all start playing for that reason? where did we lose that along the way? I was real negitative before I took some time off. Not anymore. And that changed my life for the better, when I came back to pool I saw just how negitive it can be and thats the cancer of this game, can I fix it? NO, but I wont be around it or create it.

So Fatboy is here to stay, i'm gonna do my best to give pool a uplift(not make inflated claims of $$$ etc), I'm gonna be in tough action with the TAR guys I hope it sells for them, I wont play in games that are blow-outs, I will win and lose but you can be rest assured that if they work with me and I can find the right games they will be fun and on a kinda regular basis. I dont know what else I'm gonna do, just be me here as usual. Who knows but Fatboy is a fun, real, approachable and not full of shit.

this post is my reply to the huge volume of posts here this past week about what happened at the Derby and me sharing who I am. I showed up at the ring game and felt great(my mom would have been in the front row) I will bet I wont be the first guy out next year, we'll book that action come game time., I asked tooth for a bet as promised(did happen...oh well) I promis other things in the future, I hope I dont disappoint anyone. i'm havin fun say what you like and have fun with me, thats what its all about. I know the pros who do this for a living have a different out look and I respect that and am not making a mockery of their living, it is tragic how little they are rewarded for what they do, I cant help them(unless I make a bad game with one)

so there it is I priobably left off alot of stuff and pissed a few more people off, sorry if I did, like I said find me if I upset you, my pm box is full often so have a bit of patience, i wont ignore anyone intentionally.

i'm full of people who only look at the bad, look at what I said, i'm trying to give pool something fun, not false claims of millions of dollars, claiming to be the best player ever. who's full of what? I did what I said I was gonna do, I have alot of black friends(half of my friends are black) and they have a saying "Keep it real" and thats just what I do too bad more cultures dont see it like that, its a good state of mind. I keep it real, I'm not gonna say anything I wont do, etc. Re=read my post I edited it and perhaps you missed the changes,

the IRS got my wallet, Louie Vuitton bag, and everything else on tuesday. So you hold on to your cues for a while ;) .

best to you,

What's all the talk about being the new sheriff in town? I didn't know that position was available. Did the previous Sheriff put in a two weeks notice? :D Calling yourself the Sheriff sounds a lot like someone giving them self a cool nickname rather than having earned it.

I ask you to please not take offense to anything I say below, I am just trying to offer constructive advice on your personal endeavor to become the Sheriff of Nottingham...err Pool.

The greatest characters in our game like Minnesota Fats, Cornbread Red, the Ether, Scotty Townsend didn't tell everyone they were characters... they became characters by their actions on and off the table. I think you need to actually get up and actually play some champions... find some good spots good for you and send it in. I haven't heard of you playing anybody besides maybe Jay a few games of banks and you beat on that dead horse many times since. The only big gambling I've heard you did was side betting on matches that Shane was involved in. And the one time you thought Shane had the worst of it against Alex... you bet against him when you could have bet on him and broke all of Derby City. But I suppose you'd rather prove that you have gamble by flipping a coin.

If you'd like to help TAR out, I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you became a big sponsor of theirs. Ask anyone, knowledgeable on pool, what's something good happening in the game and I'm sure TAR would be up at the top of that list. If you want to do something for the sport, help TAR become bigger and better, do it financially.

I don't believe that what pool needs is a fun crusade either. Go into any pool hall on any weekend and you will find many guys & girls out just shooting pool and having fun. The general public knows pool is fun, they just don't have an interest in professional pool. In today?s day and age I believe there are just too many things people have to choose from to ever have professional pool accepted by the masses.

It's true what you say, though Fatboy, pool does need more characters... I'd just like to see someone earn that title, rather than tell me that they're a character.

Self appointing yourself as the savior of pool isnt the slightest bit cocky in your opinion?
I'm far far from being a top player but I'm good action, a charcter(something pool needs badly) and my goal is to be loved/liked/respected/tollerated.
People tend to tollerate alot of arrogance while the cash is flowing freely
Eric's goal is to make "Fatboy" a household name in pool, give pool a shot in the arm and show people that anyone can have fun playing pool.
Wow, thats almost meglomaniacal.

So you are trying to buy yourself a reputation..... Ok I understand that completely.
I will win and lose but you can be rest assured that if they work with me and I can find the right games they will be fun and on a kinda regular basis.
Bucktooth tries to "find the right game" and catches hell for it, but its ok for you?
I know the pros who do this for a living have a different out look and I respect that and am not making a mockery of their living, it is tragic how little they are rewarded for what they do, I cant help them(unless I make a bad game with one)
Yes it is tragic, but buying into games like the 10ball ring game at DCC is nothing but showboating your cash around, and it is making a mockery of the game. Its saying that if you have the cash, you can crash the party. Its the same thing that happened to poker.

Eric, I dont even know you. But on here you come across so arrogant its not even funny. Talking about how much money you have, all the cues and toys you have, how you are willing to flip a coin for large sums of cash...... Thats not gamble brother, thats foolishness. Plain and simple.
Chuck

I think thats the point !
When only famous players can be a character, nobody of the beginners or rarely playing pool guys will know them.

So if we have more "characters", also included "characters" only known on some specific locations, we will get more interests from everyone in playing pool.

I can only speak for Europe, but I think if the people out there are more interested in playing pool, we will get more respect for our sport, we will get more television broadcasts, we will get bigger tournaments, we will get more clubs and so on.

I think its a very good thing to get Pool more popular and if someone like Fatboy committed to do so, its a very very good thing.

I really love Pool and its a big part of my life, I always try to help other players in every belonging. So you can say I also try to be a "character", but i dont want to be famous, or something like this.
I only want to get pool more popular, to get respect and i want to have fun playing pool.

And i think Eric will do exactly the same. And if he has the possibility to do this in a bigger way........ WHY NOT ???

I think everyone who loves pool should support him. He is really a great guy.

We dont have to be famous players, we only have to have fun playing Pool and let the other people out there know about it.

greets from Austria

Markus

Well boys,if you think you can do it better than Fatboy, step up! Otherwise, enjoy the view from the porch.

ummmmm a second tier player challenging the greats, out betting them and out talking them... it's been done "Rudolph Wanderone Jr." to put your name on that map you gotta do it better than he did. the "flip for it" line was cute, but, your going to need a bigger R?p?titeur.

You may have a point, pool really needs a colorful figure again, you might even be it. boisterous and colorful fill that bill, self serving and obnoxious dosent.

I don't know you I only know what I have seen and read. and all I see is "Look at me, Look at me, Look at me" OK I'm looking.... now what do you do for an encore......?

Fats didn't beg for a spot,,,, Fats spotted better players a few balls...and talked them right out of their game and right into his hands..

If that's the case, my request for your first match (or rematch?) on The Action Report is "Fatboy vs. Boy George". I didn't get to see the most recent episode and I know it would make for some great entertainment.

Well Roundboy you said confront you ok here it is. I dont think anyone here hates you i dont,i dont even know you with that said starting a thread proclaiming your self the sherriff well i think that is a little over the top! So please dont give yourself the position because that and all the talk about your money is just getting a little old! I have'nt been here long dont really know anyone i dont have all the rep and i dont have 2000 posts so my opnion probably counts for very little here. I hope you do KEEP IT REAL!!!:D

Eric has a lot of passion for the game of pool and he's willing to go out there with his own cash, make some noise, and live out a dream. Good for him and I support him 1000%. If everybody else in our game had 1/4 of Eric's enthusiasm for pool and for life, maybe we'd get somewhere.

Written words can be twisted to different meanings because they are not accompanied by tone or inflection. If Eric had said the same words with you standing in front of him the conversation might take a very different course.

I for one get very sick of some characters on this forum. Yet it comes with the territory. It is to be expected. Others like Eric open themselves to criticism and ridicule knowingly. Their only defense is by wrapping themselves in the comfort of the game itself.

Sure its easy to take potshots at someone in that position. And yes in a way he did ask for a general consensus on where he stands.

I won't condemn him. If you had to create an innovative way to try to seamlessly integrate yourself into the mainstream of the game you love, how would you do it? He is simply doing the best he can, and he is "doing" while others talk about doing...

I believe Fatboy has a great love for the game, its a wonderful thing.I think perhaps if you want your name out there and do something take some money and help out TAR,put some money into a tourney or start your own, those are some of the best ways to getting known and showing your love and support for this sport of ours. The best of luck to you Fatboy on this. ;)
