IS AZ Dying?

Well as many know there have been multiple threads lately about the slow loading here at AZ. Surprisingly there has been no response from the folks that run the website. Which leads me to wonder if the forums are dying? Is no one interested? It is just barely better than dial up at times.. I'd love to hear what or if anything is being done to correct the problem....

I saw Mike respond in one of the threads. Something about the advertising server maybe being the issue. I would bet he is looking into the problem. A forum this size probably isnt the easiest thing to modify so I would give it some time.

Justin, we are planning on being in Vegas for the 27th. I was wondering if you'd be kind enuff to consider postponing the start date of Tar 26 to coincide with our arrival.

Just kidding. Actually, my bone head buddy left getting his passport to the last minute so everything is up in the air but he should get it in time.
I clicked the link so hoping that when it gets closer to our arrival, there might still be room for us.

Thanks,
Terry.

Im not having particular problem with AZ lately. seems to me the whole net has been slower. Maybe some hacker group F'n around?

It loads as quick as ever for me !!!

I use Firefox with AdBlock Plus, but thats not what the advertisers would like to hear though !!!

Yeah... there's usually a place in your browser that says what servers it is trying to contact as it loads a page. When I experience the slowness, it's a delay in contacting adserver.azbilliards.com (or something like it.) There are a lot of possible causes for that kind of delay. I'm sure they'll work it out.

please don't leave

I haven't experienced any slow down but the thought of AZ leaving scares my wife. If I don't have the site to peruse, she's worried about what else I will do to entertain myself when I wake up at three or four in the morning . She doesn't care what I do, so long as it doesn't include her participation. I can hear her now, saying, "do what you want but......
Keep it nice." Alfie

I blocked adserver.azbilliards.com on OpenDNS last week but it didn't seem to have any effect on the slow loading. It does seem to be much better lately though.

What I have seen is totally random slow loading, from all sections of the forum. Other times all seems just fine then I click on a different section and I feel like I am in old folks home for net surfers! There seems to be no rhyme or reason and it must be driving the administrators crazy.. Hope it gets resolved soon!

I have been using Google Chrome and it is slower than molasses in Jan.

On my work machine I have adserver.azbilliards.com pointing to 127.0.0.1 in my hosts file. Loads fine. At home, using normal name resolution, it takes more time to load...sometimes.

Have you tried doing www.speedtest.net to see if it could be
your internet provider?

It seems speedy to me today.

thanks

You are describing what I have been going through. It will work ok for a couple of minutes and then just hang trying to load a page.

I think everyone should br confident that Mike is working the issue. It looks to be a tough one because he's not able to duplicate the issue at his location. So it makes it harder to troubleshoot.

Everyone just needs to be patient.

Hi Mrs G, I would have done a speed test if it was all the websites I visit. AZ is the only one I have any problems with so I am assuming the problems lie within AZ alone... Thanks for the link and thought...

Feels like a duck, acts like a duck...........no, acts more like a slow turtle that sometimes won't pop his head out.

I am trying to duplicate the issue here at home and am not seeing it. It sounds like the adserver, but I have no slow downs getting to it.

Believe me, myself as well as others are working to try to get to the bottom of this.

Mike
