John Schmidt/Shane Van Boening Vs. Quintan Hann????

Yes agreed.
I felt he was overated a few months ago but have ben made to eat my words.
QH seems to agree with me that Selby would be the toughest challenge. I think UK TV should jump on this.
3 months American Pool practice and that will be a hell of a contest.
It's a shame there are no Americans who can compete with the snooker side.

What I am getting from this thread is that QH started this whole thing on a whim one day (claiming to miss cueing up a bit) and it came across wrong, hence bringing out the dark side :o

i always feel the pull of the dark side its more fun

i thought the same he was overrated as uk 8 ball standard is not that great and i believed his snooker results were a lucky patch but it seems not as he keeps winning at snooker. he would be a good american pool player if he wanted to play

way i see it is quentin is coming to john with the shit talking about how he is just an average pro etc etc, yet when it comes to challenging him won't admit he is scared to play him at john's best game. 9-ball.

John may disagree, but I suspect straight-pool is his best game. With that said, John isn't even offering to play that game, perhaps because he knows it would be as bad as him trying to play snooker with Quinten.

As far as pool games go, 9-ball is probably one of the easier games they could play on a pool table, but it's still a game that will challenge all of a player's abilities, especially in a long set like John is offering. I don't see 8-ball being the same type of challenge, where breaking, kicking, jumping, shot-making, etc are really put to the test.

Maybe Don King can promote this event? ;)

exactly. i agree with you.

After watching the World Snooker at Sheffield I became a big fan of Mark S. They call him the Jester from Lester. And his sense of humor is becoming. Even after being so far down he never lost that spark of passion for the game and his humanity. Its because he wouldnt let himself get in a dark mood that he was so refreshing. I hope he continues to a greater career.

How about ^^^^^^^^? Quenten has more expertise at that.
I'll just leave it at that.

i was not trying to take away anything from your accomplishent at the world 9 ball when i said you were a snooker pro years before. snooker is a hard slog and nowhere near as much fun as the pool scene and i partly think all your years of snooker held you in good stead under pressure during the big accassion and you did the bussiness your a class player. but hey you need to play well and have a lot of luck in 9 ball to be the world champ but you done it i bet after all your years of playing winning that has given you a real sense of accomplishment. i would never dare challenge a player of your calibre to an 8 ball match thats for sure, i only pick on average players that tend to twitch under pressure like john smidt.

No worries Quinten, i understood what you were saying in your original post....i just wanted to clear it up thats all.....and you have done that with the post above.
Snooker 100% has helped me to get to where i am, of that there is absolutely no doubt.....and i understand that was the point you were trying to make before.

Thanks for the nice words too, and yes your right again....winning the WPC has given me a huge sense of accomplishment.

Daryl,
Cool to see you posting here. Congrats on all your accomplishments. I think you are a class act on and off the pool table from what I've seen much like John. I realize that Quinten is a great talent, nobody is denying that. What I have a problem with is how he can degrade John and his game over and over again and some continue to support him!

I express many opinions on this forum and make a lot of light hearted gestures with posts and pictures. I do this because I do know a lot about the pool world and have been around it a long time. Most of the pictures I post involve players or people I personally know and have been around. I have owned a pool room, been on the road with champions, and in general been around the tournament trail and gambling circles for a long time. I also share a lot of old pool stories and road stories on here along with interacting on a daily basis, so I feel I've earned my right to have an educated opinion on things.

I would like your opinion on the antics of Quinten in this thread and in general since you know both he and John. Some feel thats its ok for someone to act like an ass if they can shoot good pool. I for one do not.

Thanks

Hi Corvette1340,
My personal opinion on Quintens "antics" on this thread are simple......Quinten and myself have never had a bad word about each other, we dont really know each other on a personal basis, its simply a respect of each others games.
Now, it seems Quinten would like to play John....and now maybe John is up for a match, i dont know!
A few things have been said....and it may not be the regular way of going about a challenge match, but Quinten sure has got everyones attention!
I know these forums are great for communicating etc, and its good for people to have thier say......but in my opinion, at the end of the day, its between the 2 said players, not us, and certainly not for me to say!

Daryl.

i was on about you and john not me!!

but boxing you got no shot!!

billiards you can win of course!
putting that aside it would be great to see you and john match up

js v qh 8ball race to 100 for 50k www.theactionreport.com :D

I wonder what makes you think John Schmidt is an "average player who twitches under pressure"? Why do you have to say those kinds of things to get a game. I saw you play a match against some guy named "Andy Hick" or something or other and he made you look pretty bad yourself. Then you challenged him to a fight when he beat you. I mean this guy was probably 10 years older than you and you outweighed him by about 30 pounds. This guy is no threat to make the top 50much less the exalted top 16. Why the name calling? John is the US 9 ball champion. Like it or not he is our champion. Dont come here mouthing off when you yourself have had your recorded bad moments. Just make a bet get up there and play someone.

If it happened tomorrow......

Selby would almost certainly beat Hann at snooker.

Hann would almost certainly beat Selby at American 8 ball (Selby has never played it).
It would be a coin toss at uk style 8 ball, but a fantastic match to watch (they have both won the World Championship in the past and both play exciting aggressive pool).

I think The Hustler knows all this very well:) ;)

I beg to differ  http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jksEVaFec0M&feature=related

Everyone has a bad time or day at the office.
Simple fact is QH has made quite a profile for himself since...
The "fixing" thing, that was more a request than a bet, and was a one off from what I hear but I could be wrong..
JS is very quite. How do you say it when a player cannot get a game that is far weighed in his favour??

What do you mean by JS is very quite? And exactly what does "one off" mean? (trying to learn the way of the world)
Thanks,

JoeyA, you'd better watch what you say to this guy, he's liable to call you a drone and ask if you're hungry for a nosh.
