Kevin Varney.

He sold over a hundred tickets @ $30 apiece. MANY people identified him to the police. By the time they got around to looking for him (at his house), he was found HANGED! :D

Maybe he just needed to buy some really expensive rope! Maybe $3,000 worth of high end Silk Japanese Bondage rope since he didn't want it to rub his skin too badly when it tightened around his neck! :)

I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know there are many makers and sellers that will give you top quality service and deliver a equally fine cue. We here at CA$H Cues don't ask for money up front, unless a special cue is ordered, (and then it is 50% at most) just your word, and we also have many fine cues ready now. There is no reason for anyone to ever consider losing their money to people who chronically don't deliver. I can guarantee every customer that has lost money and experienced undue stress that you can not only get a much better cue from us, the experience will be a more than pleasant one for you. Take time to support those who support AZ, not the ones that take from everyone and never give back. Best regards

hangemhigh...also off topic...I read that a '55 Les Paul went for $45K recently, at auction! Dem be some FINE guitars! I lived in Bozeman, MT for 20 years. We had (I believe) the only Gibson Guitar "factory", outside of TN. It was a VERY popular place to work, and they treated their employees very well...still do, I imagine! :D

why would anyone give him money in advance with all the posts about him not being truthful is beyound me.

That was my first thought but then I saw this -

I paid for a cue in DEC 07. He said if I paid that day in full he guaranteed he would have it to me by feb08. All the commotion started here a bit after I bought it.

Someone looking for past posts when researching KV will have to know what they're looking for and go back quite awhile because a lot of threads were deleted or locked. A simple search on KV isn't going to bring up the truth right away. I tried it awhile back when someone made a post similar to this and was surprised at how difficult it was to find what I was looking for.

in anticipation of some words from the kevster:)

Don't think that is going to happen, first he no longer has his faithful supporters and it is kinda obvious he is through on this forum. Is it just me or has anyone else seen all the Varney cues being sold over and over and over again, with the same title this cues is a rocket, it is a monster hitter, man the balls explode like an Atomic bomb.

To me if any cue could do any of those things I would never sell it, but it could just be me!! Then secondly according to Kevin in all his past posts the Moderators have told him not to respond!!!!!;):grin: After my prior post against Kevin personal skills and business practices I made a promise that I would stay out of it unless Kevin provided proof he had learned nothing from the past well all bets are off Baby!!!!!:p

I think we have seen the end of the Varney dynasty, it kinda looks like he is going to have find another way to put food on the table because building cues isn't it clearly.:)

Take care Adam!!!!

Nothing better than an advertisment during a lynching! LOL

All I can say is that I must be one lucky person since the 3 dealings I had with Kevin (in the last 6-9 months) have been on time, professional and very good work. What he has done to other Azers is unacceptable and shouldn't be tolerated.

I have a Varney Break/Jump and its the best Break/Jump cue I have ever owned and its not for sale. I did recently buy a Varney Playing cue for 300.00 I subsequently sold it a month later. I bought the Varney playing cue because it was a good buy and I wanted to try one out. I like my Hunter Classic "Sisters cue" made in 1994 better but it was 5 times more the the Varney.

I did not really mean to offend anyone except Kevin himself Bob, I am certain that some of his cues play good. But, you must admit that every day there is another Varney for sale on this forum. For some reason Kevin just doesn't get it you can't treat people in the manner he does, I mean if he is having money problems step up and say so. None of us are perfect, but to take some ones money and stop communicating or refusing to give refunds with no real explanation is totally unacceptable. So after all that has happened in the past, I think it fare to say that Kevin is a dishonest predator praying upon the unexpecting.

In many cases the very people Kevin is screwing can't afford to get screwed. Many of these people have saved and sacrificed to buy themselves a new cue, so in the end he is really screwing people just like himself who don't have extra cash laying around. At this point if anyone deals with this guy they get what they deserve, if people can't see that Kevin is all about whats good for Kevin then they are blind. However, I still think it is a shame that after all that happened concerning Kevin's business practices and customer service that new victims of Kevins scam's keep popping up every few months.

Well Bob, I hope this ends it, no offense intended with my comments, Take care Buddy, and stop by some time and hit some balls!!!!:)

i have no beef with KV personally.

This thread is like about 3562 other threads here on AZ, someone who is really board should dig them up and post links to all the KV MIA threads in one centralized place. it would be kinda fun to read them and compair them, they all seem remarkably similar.

I actually have a Varney Cue, I just had to have one. With all the conterversy surrodning them, I wanted a ledgendary one, so I bought one from Cincyman(he really hated me, most of the time). I showed the cue to Disco. It is a 57.7" cue. It hits the balls ok. Has a great paint job on it(sorry jack ;) )

ok im' done, I hope this gets resolved, I bet the answere to this thread will read like the solutions to past threads

your exactly right, any legit cue maker shouldnt take $$$ upfront-unless the cue ordered is something that would be impossible to sell otherwise(then a deposit makes sence). I feel bad for the newbies that fall into that trap with certain hhmmmm, you know what i mean..

Please note, thats my opinion. I dont want to knock any cue makers out there who do require deposits, So dont think i'm knocking any one cause I aint. I just dont agree with upfront $$$, but if a cue maker wants it then thats their biz.

No offense taken Craig - I'm just confused. I bought the 300.00 Varney (from another Azer) and it had lifted were the handle met the forearm and very back butt and he offered to fix it for free (which he did). I had him make me another shaft while it was there for 100.00. I sent him the cue and I got it back in 10 days. I just don't understand how he can treat me so good and treat other people so bad.

I will make a special point to get up to your place sometime in Sept 09. See you then Craig.

some things never change..

wow, haven't been here much in the past few months...but i can't say that i'm surprised to hear that Varney is still doing business like this.

what a joke

I have noticed this too Craig, and I gotta say its making me a bit depressed. I love the look of some of his cues, especially a certain purple-heart sneaky that Chuckles has, and I just cant force myself to buy one. I would love to try one out, but Im afraid that I will be pouring cash into the trash can. I dont know the whole story with KV, and I am not gonna bash him, but, it is clear that he has done some irreparable harm to his business, reputation, and character. I hope everyone gets what the ordered and paid for and learns from it. I have been screwed out of a cue before (not by KV), and I can relate to your anger and frustration.

someone was just banned in another thread just for "woofing" (for want of a better word) at someone. He used a derogatory tone, used a word or two you wouldn't want to hear used to your mother g/f or anyone you respected, but that was pretty much it, and got banned. Seems to me ripping folks off is worse than "woofin"

i get the feeling threads like this is going to get another contributing member banned. the truth will get you banned

I just don't understand how he can treat me so good and treat other people so bad.

I feel the same way as you do- I also had a very positive experience buying a j/b from KV- I told him I needed it finished by a certain date so my dad could bring it out to me when he visited Thailand- KV kept me apprised of the progress via PM and delivered it several days early, and the cue was exactly what I wanted.

I'm sorry other people have had different results.

I did that two and a half months ago when another thread like this popped up.

Hello everyone...let me try clear this up a bit. I have been out of town the most part of last week as we had an emergency and I was called to the hospital to join my family. I'll spare you the details but lets just say that sadly sometimes work, pool, or cues are the last thing on your mind. I am back to work now but may be called away again if things worsen.
As for Petros...I just had contact with him about 2 weeks ago. There had been some confusion because he had much earlier sent me a pm that I didn't reply to or he didn't receive my reply. Probably my fault as I may of very well deleted an unread in error. I told him his cue was coming along fine and that I was just behind as usual. I thought things were fine and we left it at that in what I thought was good standing. The current uproar is due to, from what I read, that Petros sent me a pm while I was away and I did not immediately reply and he then saw the need to start these threads. Please gentlemen, take it easy on Petros as while some of what he's done here is excessive, I feel he really meant no harm and plus too there is a language barrier as I believe english is not his main language. He just didn't realize that I was out of town and had not been on AZ in a week. My apologies to everyone, I'm not ripping off Petros or anyone else. I'm simply a very busy one man shop and I'm shipping the cues out as fast as possible while keeping my quality standard. I'll try to get my pm box cleared up some a bit later and Petros I'll contact you. Again, I apologize for the drama. Everyone have a wonderful week.
KV

How is this humanly possible? It wasn't all that long ago that this forum was inundated with threads by people that had been screwed by KV. The thing I have a hard time believing is that there are people out there buying cues from him. Why anyone would send him money up front (even a deposit) is beyond me.

If there's anyone else left that is somehow "surprised" at this, please educate yourself as best as you can with what is left as proof.
