Quite a while after yesterday's match between Archer and Strickland ended, Archer sat down with Sherodaka behind the computer screens for quite a lengthy and interesting interview. The chat was still on, and Sherodaka asked Johnny many questions of her own plus some of those being posted by people in the chat room.
The interview covered many interesting topics, one of which was this one about Strickland and the Ryder Cup. Johnny said that he and Earl get along well off the table, but are not close friends. Johnny said that while Earl is a great guy off the table, he is plagued by demons while competing at pool. As far as the Ryder Cup, Johnny would like to have Earl play if he could somehow slay the demons first. But if Earl was like the Earl of recent Cups, then Johnny would not want to play on the same team, because Earl is a totally disruptive force to the team as a whole (even if Earl won every match he played). Johnny said that he has reached an age and a point in life where he just refuses to play the Ryder Cup solely for "a check." Johnny also named Rodney Morris as another player who feels similarly.
I don't know whether that interview is or will be available somewhere, but it was Johnny being candid about all sorts of topics and I recommend it to anyone who is able to find it.
