There will be an incredible amout of U.S. supporters at the Mosconi cup.
Must be at least 100 people from this thread going to show their support for the USA.

Every person slinging mud at these 3 pool players that didn't make the team that decided not to go, MUST be going themselves.

If your one of the patriotic posters accusing others of bailing and non supporting the USA. Please list your name as an attendee at MC

i agree, this is the best example of a "team" format, much like tennis.

You remember the "world team billiard" concept from years ago. That was a pretty good format and they even made us our own "playing cards" (like in baseball).

The idea probably came from "world team tennis," however, i don't think that concept gained much momentum and was cancelled. They even had the likes of jimmy connors, bjorn borg, and john mcenroe. Some games just aren't suited to a team scenario, pool is one of those games.

the mosconi cup is intended to be a "specialty event," much like the ryder cup in golf. I like this event and hope it continues for many years, at the same time we still need to be focused on how to make pool the best it can be....as it was originally intended. Without reestablishing this strategic component the game is in a "holding pattern" looking for a solid place to land, build and grow.

I thought, man, I would've gone... but when the numbers are really looked at, there is no way I could've gone.

If we win and I went, I would get less than half of what I would get by staying home and working. I have little disposable income as it is, there's no way I could afford to go EVEN if we win. I especially would be in the red if I went and we lost.

The supporters of the 3 players have not attacked MW and have been respectful in their defense of the them. So, camp players has the high road in this travesty! Unlike you! Coming out publicly irate and totally out of line.

World Team Tennis is still going on AFAIK. Not a real big deal, but sure draws bigger crowds than the Mosconi Cup.

We're all pool players and all prolly backed out of a pool commitment a time or two throughout our lives.

I've said yes to folks that I would play on their team, hate to say no, seemed like a good idea at the time, and then just can't do it, as I realized I over committed again, and then bail, but tell them before well before league starts.. ya know, kinda like what happened here
