I hesitated posting anything for nearly 2 weeks now but since I know so many of you personally, and because I'm the proud father here (:D), I'm going to announce that my wife gave birth to our son, Brighton, on 9/28 at exactly 2:00pm. He weighed in at 9lbs 2oz, and was 21 3/4" long. For those of you on MySpace, I'll be putting pictures up on my page some time in the near future if you're interested.

I can see it now. The year is 2029 and the talk in the pool world is all about young Brighton Mendoza. No one can beat this Brighton kid. He's spotting all the filipinos and Chinese guys the eight and nine in Ten Ball. People are calling him the best American player since Shane Van Boening came along over 20 years ago.

Better even than the old legends like Reyes, Strickland, Sigel and Hall. He is constantly putting together five and six packs playing Ten Ball. We've never seen anything like it before. There is talk that the tournaments may have to go to full rack Rotation. Although there are rumors that Brighton runs out full racks regularly in practice as well. Even the grand master of Pool Efren Reyes, after seeing Brighton practice declared "He is better than I ever was".

Congrats Jimmy to you and Meiko. :)

Jay! We had the same vision!

Well, I wouldn't mind if they were saying he was the best "American golfer to come along since Tiger Woods 30 years ago" either. ;)

Thanks, buddy. I hope to see you some time soon.

Congratulations!! If this is your first child then I want to tell you that NOW you've discovered what life is about. You can't know until you've become a father.

I totally agree with this post.

You'll soon discover that pool will become a VERY distant second to your children. Heck, you might not see yourself in the pool room weeks at a time...and you really won't bothered at all by it. Well, unless your son hits the terrible two's. :)

Congrats!

Congrats Jimmy! Less time in the poolroom...but you'll know where everything is at Babies-R-Us.:D My wife & I are expecting our 1st at the end of Dec....a boy too. And similar to your thoughts...he'll have golf clubs long before a pool cue!!! I know where the money is at...:D

I became a first time father 4 1/2 months ago, and it's been quite a ride. Yes, your pool game will suffer, but you'll find that you don't really mind all that much. I could never imagine having a child, now I can't imagine life without her.

Congratulations and good luck with your new baby boy!

Jimmy,

Congrats Jimmy. Brighton is a big baby - that must have been very exciting.

Can't wait to see the pics. You know how they always say "wow, is your life going to change?". We'll, guess what? They're right! It just keeps getting better and better. To me, raising children is the single most fulfilling thing in life.

I have two girls and wouldn't trade them for the world, but I always wondered what it would be like to have a son. I even saved my old comic books in case I did. I think you're going to have a lot of fun!

Welcome Brighton,
There's nothing in the world like having a child and the impact that you can have on the child's development. The love that the both of you will share will dwarf the accomplishments that you both shall make in this new journey.

Good luck, but neither of you will need it.

Congrats Jimmy!
I'm sure as soon as you and your wife held that little bundle of joy you realized how blessed you both are, I truly wish I had been as lucky, unfortunately my wife and I weren't able to have children, although we now have 14 nieces and nephews to keep us busy, as we are referred to as the favorite Aunt & Uncle I guess because we tend to spoil them.
Best of luck to you and your family.

;-)

Congrats, Mr. Mendoza!

The baby is adorable! The good looks came from Meiko, so I guess we'll have to wait to see what pool skills he gets from you!

And will you be dressing him in a velour tracksuit? :D

Congrats again to you and The Missus.
