Post dated checks for final 8 at Master's

I just read a press release from Barry on the homepage here having to give the final 8 players post dated checks. I know Barry has done a lot for pool and I don't like to see anyone that promotes pool lose money, but this is an on going thing. Players and their backers pay for eveything up front. When tournaments are over they should get paid. Johnnyt

I agree. This was never going to end well. 25K added for a 57 player event with almost zero spectator gate. I don't think anyone is surprised by the fact the money didn't work out as planned. Least I am not.

I agree 100%

I hope all the players get paid B4 the US Open so there are not problems and to make sure the Open is a good as it can be.

Good luck to the players, thanks for holding another great event Barry and I sure hope it all works out.

What happen to the John Archer group that was going to make sure that the money was there before play starts. This is not the first time that this has happen with Barry. Players should boycot the U.S. Open and make a statement that this will not happen again. Until the player say enough is enough, this will happen again.

The players are scraping for everything they can get. They play everywhere they think will end in a paycheck. Players don't make enough money to boycott a tournament that has a $40k first place payout, even if it takes a while to get paid.

Um. HELLOOOOOOOO!!!

It's BARRY!!!!

Like this really comes as a shocking surprise to anyone??? PULLEEZ!

People need to stop living in that pipe dream alternate universe.

Doesn't matter WHAT types of promises come out of his mouth, if you wanna bet that the money is going to get messed up somehow at the majority of his events, you are for all intensive purposes, STEALING!

I wonder what the line is on Barry making an appearance in this thread.

I’m sorry. I’ve been watching the players go though this not getting paid at tournaments for 50 years and keep coming back for more. Start an organization and have the larger tournaments put the purse money in escrow or get a real job. Maybe pool should be a 6 months sport and work a job the other 6 months. Johnnyt

Sad all around really

Sad they can't get even 60 players for a "big money added tournament".

Sadder most of the best players can't find the money to put themselves in for $500, plus traveling money.

Saddest that it won't take more than a couple more of these non-paying tournaments and the few big pro events left will just cease to exist.

This is the richest country in the world, that doesn't seem to matter either. Pool needs a savior. Where is that person?

If professional pool was a medical patient, they would be in the Intensive Care Unit deemed critical.

I agree, and very well put. Johnnyt

If this type of non-payment keeps happening on the US pool scene, the solid promoters will have a harder and harder time having events.

US Open has had several instances in delayed payments, as has the previous Masters. then we had the Tony Annigoni fiasco.

All of this handicapps the other promoters and pool in US in general.

Not trying to slam anyone but, after awhile, the players will quit coming. Promoters think they are helping the game by having events but it is just the opposite.

Players have a lot of expenses going to events. They need to be paid immediately! Plus how well will they play when they might not get paid?

Sorry, but this is not acceptable behavior by any Promoter --- PERIOD.

FYI: All CSI events will receive their money on time - every time. If there are any quesitons we can answer, please feel to call us. 702-719-7665.

It is better to have someone indebted to you than to have no one indebted to you.

You know what they say Mike, put a guarantee in one hand and shit in the other, and see which one fills up first. Do you have a link where the money was gauranteed?

holy crappasauras...

Right as Ralf was closing in on narrowing the gap to 5 - 3, Jim Wyche says, "see promoter Barry Behrman and his daughter sitting over there? What's he signing, checks?"

Danny D. replys "What?"

Best,
