I just opened up the main page here at AZ and my Norton anti virus stopped an attack that was descrbed as severe. It was CritXPack Exploit Kit. Not sure if others got this as well just putting it out in case Mike might be interested..

Thanks for the heads up. I've come to AZ 3 times this morning with ne norton worning. Johnnyt

Norton Internet Security blocked it from intruding on my little world as well.

I never got it, or did I "get" it?

I use Firefox browser, are you guys using IE?

It's coming up because one of the links somewhere on the front page matches the pattern that CritXPack follows.

There are actually several patterns, outlined here -
http://www.malwaresigs.com/2012/11/27/critxpack-exploit-kit/

However it's possible for an entirely harmless link to accidentally follow this same pattern.

I suspect this is a false alarm, but can't guarantee it. Someone should PM or email mike so they can dig into it.

I am worried about my Norton 360 now, since I did not receive a warning, but others with Norton did receive a warning. Hmm...

Hmmm.. I wondered where this came from. Mine caught it too.

McAfee said something about "suspicious" and "potentially dangerous".
I figured it's AZ Billiards, what do you expect.

McAfee caught it but Microsoft Security Essentials didn't.

You can download Malwarebytes free from CNET and it often catches what the others don't. It's a manual scan but I run mine every few weeks and occasionally it catches something that slipped through.

I'm running it as we speak.

Can someone who gets the warning, please send me with the exact text of the warning? I am noticing that the standard banners at the top of the screen are not working and generally when this sort of thing happens, it is the adserver causing the problem. I can only assume that there is a connection between the banners not working and the warning.

Looking into it now.

Mike
