Thanks Justin, I think you hit the nail right on the head. Looking forward to upcoming TAR matches to support!

I don't know how we've had so much argument when the answer is completely obvious.
Just randomly make 3 pockets tight and the other 3 loose. Problem solved, everybody's happy.

4.125 vs 4.5
I understand this horrible, ill-conceived, reprehensible, moronic, without merit, ill timed, and flat out stupid idea of changing the TAR table (TAR table NOT normal tournament table which I can see being played on 24/7 by top pros thanks to “the inter-web”) was yours!
I for one am not amused,
Sincerely,
Mr. Al A. Skan
PS. Looking forward to the next podcast and TAR 31 :grin-square:
My friend had a great idea. We make a set of rails with all six pockets completely different. One is a 4" pocket called the "Dominguez" one is a seven inch called the "Valley" and there will be a snooker pocket that when ever a player shoots into it the commentators have to use a British accent and snooker terminology: "Bloody hell Cotton he has to deep screw this one"
Just waiting on Glen to get here and start working on it.
I feel that the tighter pockets take away much of the ability for players to get up and bridge a five or six game gap by catching a gear. It seriously limits the possibility that a guy could make a mistake at 20-20 and never shoot again or that a guy leading 22-19 could make a mistake and lose the set.
In snooker the pros play on 12ft tight pocket tables and can run out 30 balls plus.
You would think that pool pros could run 10 balls on a 10ft tight pocket table.
And if not they need to change their game a bit and adjust to the new tighter pocket table and get used to it.
I would like to see a slower cloth and less bouncy rails as well.
Heck, in the SVB vs Orcullo match Orcullo never shot a single safety and did not miss a single shot in this table that is "too tough", he ran out every single time he stepped up to the table, and he LOST that set because SVB simply broke too well and put out too many packages.
Tell Alex that after day 1 and day 2 of his last match with SVB on those 4 1/8th inch pockets. Alex was leading huge on both os those days and SVB did his 6+ rack packages right at the end of the first two days to end up ahead.
Anyhow, good luck with the change man...
It's not the same table man. Pockets are the same size... but lil different properties.
I like it how pool played on a standard Diamond pro table is now kiddie pool. If Mosconi were alive today, I would hope that he would have the decency to admit that his run of 526 was BS and nothing special, as it was not performed on a 9' or 10' table with 4" pockets. I would also hope that SVB is not too proud of his kiddie pool 2012 US Open 9 ball win. What a weak "achievement"! In fact, I would hope that the winners of almost all tourneys for the past 100 years would just own up to how piss poor they really play! Seriously, they played on buckets!!!!!!
Good comparitive pic's Peter.
I had to look like 4 times before I could (I think, lol) see the difference. Apparently just a seemingly infinitesimal difference makes a big difference.
KK9 <-- rummaging thru his toolbox for his calipers
