SNL does neg skit on women's pool.

SNL skit

Thesbians poking fun at Lesbians
Wow the things you learn on late nite T.V. ..I thought they wore their hair short so it would not touch the balls when they shoot.
I guess I'm just jealous I wish the Mens Pro Tour could "pull some stings" and get a cool sponser like tampax.

they could have plugs like

When Earl's whing hurts your ears let Tampax wipe his tears
or
Phillipinos that have a sore butt from the flight let tampax ease your plight

lighten up and laugh a little life is way to short

Announcer: Where did the term Billiards come from?
Color Man: I have no idea.....

Priceless.......

I also thought it was too funny having men announcers hawking tampax. Reminds me of the reaction in the room when I was a kid and one of those "not so fresh" commercials came on.....

I enjoyed it-found myself laughing through most of it.

When Drew chalked her cue by flinging it in the air -- PRICELESS LOL

If Gale liked it, it OK in my book. I liked that part too! LOL

I didn't think it was hilarious but it did have some funny lines. Maybe it was SNLs way of hinting to us that we should get Tampax or another feminine product to sponsor us. After all, it is a womens tour, why not corner the market of necessity? Maybe something good will come out of it. At least it wasn't a crack on a tournament from present day. We have come quite a ways since 1991 so it wasn't a total put down in my opinion.

WPBA would love a major sponsor like that for their tour.

The funniest thing about SNL is now that the election is over they try to spoof Obama to gain "Street cred" no telling how many viewers they lost.

The only skit I liked regularly was "Really".

I think we should all write Saturday Night Live and complain that Men's Professional Pool should get equal time.

The funny thing is some of the male pros can just be themselves and it would be hilarious (Strickland, McCready, etc.)

Anyone catch that horrible skit SNL did last night on women's pool. It was based on the players being lesbian dykes and commentators not having a clue to what pool was about. A real very public kick in the teeth to the sport. If you missed it they should have it on their website soon.

Watched it and my take is that it had virtually nothing to do with the sport, per se.

What it was was a pretty funny send up of the clueless commentary we are often forced to endure for pool broadcasts and how, particularly for the women's events, they so shamelessly and frequently plug the sponsors that you can make fun of it in a skit and everyone recognizes that what they do to themselves is pretty stupid (and laughable).

Both sides.

I have the same feeling that most of you have when you say that SNL has gone down a lot over the years. They used to be really funny, then for some reason they thought anything that they did was funny because they did it and the crap started to come out. I think the problem in the question of this thread is the word "negative". Can you imagine SNL doing a positive skit about anything. It is a spoof show and you won't get anything else. You shouldn't. Whether it is good or not is the question, as you see in the responses. I think the good thing is that they did it. Maybe more shows will have fun with it and more people will get interested. Usually, when people are offended by comedy is when it hits too close to home. I'm not sure where you would come out on that but it was funny on a lot of levels. But at the end, looking for a positive skit from them or any other comedian is a waste of time, and it definitely wouldn't be funny.

thanks,
Jim

man do these forums go fast.If you dont look everyday you miss a lot.
This skit was kinda funny.Yes SNL has gone down over the years. With P.C. and a one sided liberal view and poor writers the guy who posted when you use to watch SNL and thought it was real news or a real commercial until you picked up it was a spoof, is right on the money.

It was a little funny but definitely not like the old stuff when Balushi and Akroyd, Rosanna Danna Danna etc were on. The church lady and Rosanna Danna Danna was the best ever! Too funny.

I didnt think it was so much a spoof on the players like someone else posted, it was really about commentators and there are still alot of times you hear people commentating on sports that you just want to smack and ask someone what they were thinking when they had them do it.

I think any press is good and will get more attention to the game its how the press is handled that makes the difference.

Agreed Joey!!!!

Hey got a idea for a skit about mens pool. :)

A tall thinly built poolplayer, umm maybe with brown hair, getting down on a shot and taking a lint roller out of his back pocket to remove the fuzz off the table.:D
The other player is yelling at his opponent , "will you just shoot it"!!!!

Well something like that. Its a start.:D

It would be hilarious, as I found the womens skit to be.:):)

is it just me, or is the SNL stuff never really funny??? i thought some of the old school eddie murphy stuff was funny, but i cant even waych SNL its just so bad.

i think they were taking a shot at ALL tv producers working their logos/sponsors into the actual programming, not that pool is necessarily bad when it comes to that. the skit really became about tampax, and that's really how it is if you look at sports or even reality tv nowadays. i think they were just pointing out how ridiculous it is.

I miss the good ole days of SNL with John Belushi and Dan Akroyd! :)

I thought this was humorous though. If SNL did a spoof making fun of me, I would be flattered!

I say lighten up, too! The sport is being noticed and we have the ladies to thank for that! Maybe if the men ever organize as good as the ladies have, someone will do a parody on us. ;)

Ray

All they would have to do is follow Earl around for day during a tournament and they would have plenty of material or just film it.

He should have VERY dark brown hair and a goatee and a Dante's Inferno look about him, but you have to stretch out the lint thing. First he brushes the table with his hand, brushing imaginary dust/lint, then after several attempts to take a shot, he then starts picking the lints with his fingers and finally after several more attempts to shoot, he reaches into his pool case and pulls out the lint roller and commences to cleaning the already clean table. A couple of stern glances at the commentators for their "loud" scorpion-like stinging comments would be in order.

But then, we would have to guess who was getting roasted.:grin:

I think most fans of SNL, know that they make fun of everyone and everything. I don't think they're gonna set pool back 20 years, and I really didn't find it offensive.

Setting the pool back 20 years might not be such a bad thing ...

Ahh, Softshot got there first.
