Why is there a ten year wait when you can add up all the sales for every other cue maker on earth and not come up with a 10 year wait?

Well if you make 100 cues a year and have 1000 orders.......

If you dont think guys will wait ten years for Mobley, Searing, Showman you just dont know what you are talking about. Those guys make less than twenty cues a year (sometimes WAYYYY less). You dont think two hundred people have orders?

You called for questions. I'm interested in economics and business. I didn't ask for his personal financial information or if he beats his wife or not. Don't ask my questions if you don't feel they are appropriate in the context of your podcast.

For the life of me I'm really not sure why you have such a stigma about discuss numbers. You always make such a big deal about it. What's wrong with asking about a company's top line sales, profit and success? Most successful business people like to talk about their business model, success stories and lessons learned. I work for a privately owned company and we share this type of info within our industry all the time with our customers.

I'm not surprised at your typical smart asss response.

Its very simple: It is none of anyone's business.

There is a reason its called a private company.

Several very interesting people have refused to come on the podcast because they just dont want to be put on the spot by questions like the ones you posed. This is why I go out of my way to make it clear thats not what I do.

I do these question threads a courtesy to members here because we get some people in the studio that people are interested in. If you don't like my reply to your rude ass questions I hope you take that as an indicator those types of questions are not welcome.

You are right I am smart ass. Its because I am rapidly growing to dislike what this place is turning into.

Has southwest ever sponsored a player? I know they had some banners in pool hall junkies the movie I guess this could be considered sponsorship...

I respectfully disagree hungarian nut!!! this is a pool forum not an economics or business forum and Justin's guest would not be EXPECTING those types of questions and certainly would not be PREPARED with that kind of data. He may not even have access to that type of data!!! As a employee, your boss would never give you data that could be used as an aid in salary negotiations!!!!

i would love to hear why they never used stainless steel joints, ivory joints and ivory ferrulles??? Why no coring??? brass pins only why never aluminum or steel??? why so few wrapless??? why do they glue the weight bolt in??? why only 6 points no 4 or 8 pointers???

given the pioneering spirit of the company what new are you experimenting with??? new materials, new woods & etc???

I personally don't consider it rude. What can I say, I'm an inquisitive person.

Cheers

You may not consider it rude, but trust me from a business owners standpoint it is rude.

If someone asked me those kinds of questions about my companies I wouldn't answer them.

A huge amount of information can be determined by getting this type of information. I surely don't want my customers to know how much profit margin I have when it comes time to negotiate pricing.

Would you feel comfortable going into a privately owned business and asking the owner these questions? I can just imagine the look a bar owner would give it you asked those questions.

Ok, I concede and my questions were wrong. But I wasn't intentionally being rude.

Can you ask them how their business is going? Are orders up or down?

How's the current ecomony impacting their business?

I have not heard that the wait time for a new southwest has gone down....
What would that tell you about the economy impacting sales?

I think it's weird to wait 10 years for any cue. I can't remember my ex's names from a decade ago. Sorry to set ya off.

That would tell me that you are asking a rhetorical question as to pile on.

South West = The Best!

South West = The Best! I just want to pay my respect to the entire crew at South West. Laurie, Mickey, and Al have kept the legacy alive with complete dedication and perseverance!
I have been playing with a SW cue for many years, and have a nice collection also.
Jerry wanted a great playing cue that looked classy, and the SW name has never looked back!
So Justin, thank you for giving us all an opportunity to get a glimpse into one of the finest Cue Companies in the World!

PS: Al can I buy your case?

When I ordered my cue from Jerry he said to talk to Laurie about shaft tapers because she did the shafts. Is she still doing the shaft work? Also Laurie said they had 2 tapers back then, one of their own and a Szamboti taper. Do they have any new tapers now?

What is the single most important aspect or approach he takes in every cue, be it construction or otherwise, that he believes not only gives Southwest its legendary status, but sets it apart from other makers?

Are you sick of hearing that the Jerry Franklin era cues are better / play better than the cues in the post Franklin (Jerry) era...
