And does the public have a right to know if it was a pitching wedge or a driver?![]()
Yes, yes I believe we do!
Would love to have seen Tigerette running down the drive in her nightie swingin' away.

Greg shouldn't have to protect the dates of the DCC.
To promote another major event during the same timeframe when the DCC dates are announced well in advance is nothing short of idiotic.
Wouldn't another solution be to do away with the buyback format?
Doesn't pretty much everyone buyback anyway? Make it a double elimination and you can still use the random drawing system.
Or maybe just partly screw Derby City this year, like a warning shot. But if Greg doesn't capitulate, then next year look for the WPA to schedule an event smack opposite Derby City. I sure hope not, but the paranoid in me wonders. I sure hope I am proven wrong next year... Btw, I'm pretty sure Greg publicizes his dates several years in advance, not just months.Exactly, the actions of the WPA speak far louder then the words.
Guess how that reads to me Jerry.
"Well we tried to strongarm Greg into changing rules, adding more money, ect. He did not do it. We certainly would have not created the conflict if he had bent to our will, we certainly had the option of setting our event at a time that did not conflict, but since he did not bend to our will we just created this new event and decided to screw over the DCC with it."
Gotta love that synergy between the promotions. Can you all feel the love? The WPA clearly feels that the success of the WPA is far more important to them then the success of this sport as a whole.
Classy move WPA, the fans are impressed. As Watchez said, there is a HUGE number of dates in this sport where BUGGER ALL takes place, if you want people to believe you just randomly stumbled into the DCC date without even realizing it think again.
HELLOOOOOOOO, aren't we missing something?
Who really chose the dates? The promoter or WPA?
And were the reasons respectable?
Any responses? Who are the promoters?
I think the promotor is some German group.
The WPA doesn't choose dates, they only sanction events.
For 2010 they had no sanctioned events on the date the germans wanted to have a tournament.
Thanks Roy. BTW, my email to the WPA (posted in this thread) went unanswered, so far.
Any ideas as to how to determine who the potential German promoter is? And furthermore get a bead on their resume and their "agenda"?
This detective work is right down our AZB's #1 Euro poster alley.![]()

I seriously doubt that Team Philippines will consist of Efren, Django and Alex.
Most likely Ronato Alcano, Dennis Orcullo and Lee Van Corteza will be 3 of the 4 Filipinos playing, and only Lee Van is a regular at DCC. (Plus, I've been told that Efren and Django will be at DCC)
SVB, Corey Deuel, Johnny Archer and Oscar Dominguez will play for Team USA.
Ralf, Darren, Niels and Marcus all told me they will play World Team event, and won't make the DCC.
Last year I think Ralf, Darren, Niels, Katrine, Marcus, Mika, Thorsten, "pooladdict" and I were the only Europeans at DCC, so even though 100 Europeans will play the World Event, only a handful of those 100 used to play the DCC...
I doubt this "GIANT" wpa event will come close to having the number of entries that the DCC has. Not to mention that this it their FIRST YEAR! so yes I think they should schedule their event around the DCC which in its 12th or 13th year.
You say "pool is dying in America" well hell yes!!! with this kinda crap going on it doesn't stand a chance. The only way to revive and improve American pool and Professional pool in genereral is for them to work together. And not try to out schedule each other. especially a well respected long standing event.
P.S. No disrespect intended... but why the hell should the DCC have to move anything? they were there first. If the promoters across the Atlantic wanted to do the right thing, they would move their inaugural event IMO
Have you ever been to the Derby before ?This is just my opinion, you may not agree. I for one don't want to go pay money to watch 9 ball matches, when there is no Archer, SVB, Mika, Ralf, Thorsten, Neils, Aplleton, Lee Van Corteza, or any other top player that goes over there to make some real money. I don't care if there's 1000 entrants. These guys are most of the top players of the last 5 or 6 years.
Also there are very few people that actually make money at the DCC. With hotel prices where they are, and the cost of fuel. That doesn't even cover the entry fee into all the Tournaments for 9 or 10 days. If I was a great player and got the offer to go play in the WPA tournament instead of DCC, I would in a heart beat. Like I said, just one man's opinion.
Have you ever been to the Derby before ?
If so do you only go for the last part to watch the nine ball ? Is the tournament the only thing you watch ?
