Top 10 players where you live.

For those of you that may not know, even now Jeff Carter is in a much different class than the other four mentioned here, although I respect all their games. Jeff Carter was top 10-15 in the world in 9 Ball (ask Archer, Earl, Nick, more) in 80s/90s, a US Open One Pocket Champion (may have been a major 1 pocket event, not the Open?), has a run of over 200 balls or more in staight pool, numerous WS State championships, and more. He deserves the credit!

Like you said, 80s/90s. There's no questions that Jeff is still a great player, but he's not anywhere near where he used to be.

Best in WS

Even now the four would only maybe stand a chance in 9 Ball and/mini-pool. Even now, none of them would stand any chance in one pocket, banks, or straight pool with Jeff. Money talks????

None of them have to win at those games, but they don't have lose either. Dave and Lamar can both hold their own playing straight pool. Duncan is the best one-pocket player of the 4. Johnny is probably the best banker, but I haven't seen the other 3 play banks so I'm just going by what I've heard there. Again, I'm not taking anything away from Jeff, I'm just a realist and Jeff now is nothing like Jeff back in the day.

Barbox 8 ball. I will take Gene over any of them. Lets get something going. Are you going to be at mickeys on the 23rd?

Not speaking for Gene for the 23rd, for I haven't talked to him. Just curious for I am thinking of making the trip.

This is MY top 10 for New York City.

1. Mika Immonen
2. Tony Robles
3. George SanSouci
4. Danny Barouty
5. Steve Lipsky
6. Frankie Hernandez
7. Zion Zvi
8. Jim Gottier
9. Jonathan Smith
10. I'll leave this one blank since I can think of about 10 players that could arguably fill this spot.

All very good players above..
NYC has many talented players..
Chavez is very tough.. IMO only a few could handle him on the list..
Best,
Ken Kerner

Gene has an offer to come play Johnny Fields bartable 9-ball. He doesn't seem to interested in responding though.

I'm going to Beloit on the 23rd.

Question

The title of the thread says 'where you live' and posters are putting names down for the whole state, which is it, the city where you live or the whole state.

I can not speak for all of Kansas, too many good players up in Olathe and Kansas City area that I do not know, plus a few out in Western Kansas towns.

For Wichita only, I could probably list the top 10.

So which is it?

Let me be the first to publicly state that I am much, much worse than Mr. Chavez at all pool games - and that's just fine with me, lol.

Not sure I'd consider him a NYC player, but if he's in the area, he's definitely among the best.

I'm not living in wisconsin anymore but still consider myself from there. so I'd like to play. preferably bar-table 8-ball. varsity club is half way but if it is to smokey I'll try to accomidate. Eau claire is out of the question. to far. But if we can get our schedules to match I'm in. either sets( multiple) or an ahead set your choice bet between 1000 to 1500. money is tight so thats what I can do.let me know Tom McCluskey 847-226-4281. p.s. If it happens or not gene, you are still a great player.

Not for some neandorthals

Knocking their action, are f&#($ng serious?, this is not 1960 bud, these guys are all listed on the top 10 or close to it on the state tournament list of the DCT for everyone to see. These guys will be happy to be mentioned and are not looking to sneak up on anyone, pool has changed.

Believe it or not some players think posting results of their action, knocks their action. I think they are dumb asses, who just do not realize this is 2010 and we are way past phone calls.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I am posting a list of the top players in my area, most of them have jobs and do not need to be on the low so to speak. If any of them have a problem and think I am knocking there action they can find me since I play in the same room with all of them.

Hey Tom, how is it going? You are still a cheesehead in my book also. This who is better is fun, but getting old after having listened to it ALL day Saturday. Would love to see you and Gene match up. Like a true fan, I have to bet with my heart. Love your game, but like the home guy. Or I will not bet. You and Gene are both class acts in my opinion. How is the family? Hope life is treating you good in these trying times. Game good? Any tourneys coming up?

hello scott!

good to hear from you scott. everything is good on my end not playing much now but, I'm going to try to get to some tourny's in the next few months. hopefully my schedule will allow it. are any of you guys going to bca state? I'd like to see how it would come out in the long run with gene, I don't blame you for betting on gene, he plays great. I'm just curious to see how I'd do. hope all is well up north. take care. and maybe we can get something going! tom

As for that tourny,

I get too sick in the smoke. After 4 hours of being in there I was toast. I made a promise to myself to never play in the smoke again. It takes me 4 days afterwards to start feeling better.

If you want to base my ability on that tourny that's a mistake. .
I came back later to try and Play Tom McClusky and felt so bad from the smoke I couldn't make 3 balls in arow.

Tom played bad also. He looked at me in disbelief when I was missing shots.

Based on that day with the smoke I rank 276th in wis.

Hi Gene!
Please read your PM or/and your email pls! If you dont you will probably lose a customer..

Thats really cool, but here in Oklahoma, our 9' tables are 10'1", and we have 11 1/2 players in our top 10, we get the 1/2 because there is a midget that shoots out of Vian Okla that is awesome, he does have a limp though.......also, everyone that says everything is bigger in Texas.....you know that Texas is 1/3 the size of the Great State of Alaska:grin:

Currently Mika is the only one on this list that can play Chavez. There is a couple on the list that if they played like they used they would be able to play him. Everyone else has no chance but Chavez would probably ask for the 8 anyway.

I used to live in the NYC area and there are several great players in but the ones that I feel that are the most talented are not that competitive. There is not much action in the area so they play more socially so I feel it takes their edge off.

Ken I am not sure if you from NYC or right outside of it but you are a top player from the area.
