Very Sad Day - AZB loses a valued member

Just a disclaimer...those vids are not that funny; there were significant amounts of alcohol ingested prior to that match.

Breakup's forum post's with all of the photoshop work and crazy ideas were definitely more entertaining than those vids.

You are so right, Willie. Breakup and I have exchanged some fantastic photos over the years. Bill, sent me a group of photos he took from the FL state 9 ball championship circa 1980, with some of the top players of that era. What a wonderful guy and like another of my great friends OHB, Bill will be missed deeply. One of the photos Bill sent me from the FL open,,,Louie Roberts

I am tremendously saddened to hear of this. I really enjoyed Breakup's sense of humor and although I never met him I would consider him a valued member of my extended family here. He was one of a kind and I regret that i didn't get to make his acquaintance last year at DCC. I sincerely hope that his family can take strength in the Lord and heal in the days to come.

Rest in Peace Breakup, you will be missed.

Great picture.

Sincerely,

I am both shocked and saddened by this news...... :(
I played with Bill a week or 2 ago on a Saturday afternoon. We shot the shit about some old pool stories, and stuff like that while we played. I asked him how his health was doing, he said he was fine, felt great and he thought he was past the worst of it............ Im sitting here writing this in disbelief.
He will be very sadly missed by all who knew him.

I was absolutely gutted to hear this. When I first joined AZB it didn't take me long to find the Breakup/Betmore threads, and I spent a long time laughing & enjoying them. TV shows would love to have humour that good!

This is two nights in a row I've typed a sad post, and I'll be honest, I'm finding it very hard to do.

My condolences to his family.

RIP breakup, you will be remembered. We will miss your humour and your posts.

This is very sad news. I must admit I had to read Don's first post twice hoping I missed something and this was a joke and I was just to slow to pick it up the first time. I had the pleasure of being in DCC for the famous Jellybean match and saw alot of the play and the pics firsthand. He seemed like such a nice person and he will be truely missed.

My condolences to his family.

As many of you already know, Grady Mathews referreed the Breakup vs WillieBetMore grudge match at the DCC. Grady is out of town at the moment and I've been asked to include Grady and Randi's deepest condolences to Bill Johnston's friends and family.

I'm sure that Grady will visit AZB to add his own words upon his return home.

Don, it's not always that you find someone that you can really connect with. I hope in the following days you will find peace. My prayers to breakup's family and friends.

Very sad. Bill was a very solid & kind man, with an always polite disposition. He was simply a pleasure to be around & know. He visited my shop a few times & on occasion would play a match with me. He was one of the few genuinely sweet people in the world. RIP, Bill. Your family have my prayers.

This really is a shock! Aileen Pippen emailed me with the news. I haven't visited AZB except to answer PM's, so I missed the news of Bill's passing here. I agree with all who appreciated his wonderful humor. I was fortunate enough to meet Breakup twice and really enjoyed his radiant smile and wry sense of humor. I know he is beaming down on us from up above and I will truly miss one of the greats here on AZB.

Willie, I would like contact info on the family to send my condolences. Thank you.

I'm very sorry to hear this. Breakup's posts in the ongoing "feud" always brought a grin to my face.

I'm glad I got to meet him down in Derby last year.

He will be missed.

:-(

It's hard for me to believe this sad news. Bill seemed so healthy and active at this year's Derby City. And a helluva nice guy to boot. It was obvious he loved pool and being around poolplayers. I really enjoyed his company and am glad I had a chance to spend time with him.

I'd like to see something in his honor in the AZ room in January. Even if it's just a photo of him with an eulogy from Willie.
