On Monday, December 22nd, Warren Ellerman lost his battle with Lung Cancer. Warren has been a stable of support for billiards most of his life and most of you probably have seen him proudly supporting his two sons, Tanner and Mitch Ellerman, at every tournament across the state and country. Times have been extremely tough for the Ellerman family and making plans for the funeral couldn't be harder. Now comes the hard part of pulling together funds for a proper service. Kitty Carroll from Kitty's at 2836 N 36th is converting her Dec. 27th Scotch Tournament into a Memorial Fund Tournament this weekend. Donations will be accepted all weekend long, as well as a partial of the entry fees. Please show your support for one of our own. You can drop any donation off at Kitty's if you wish. (Funeral Set for Tuesday, Dec. 30th TBD)

Over the past few months, Mitch has been helping out around Bullshooters and they are having a Memorial Tournament of their own on January 3rd. Race to Handicap minus 3, 2 p.m. Start. With all the great persons across the state that have ever met Mitch or Tanner, I know your heart goes out to the family. If you would like to make a donation, you can email me personally azpoolscene@hotmail.com or call my cell phone to make arrangements.

all of our...

all of our thoughts and prayers go out to mitch and his family in their time of need! :frown:

I guess they were told a few months ago that he probably wouldn't make it till the end of the year.

It's so sad! He was always there for them and sweating every match he could.

And with all the Streaming online, he was able to watch Mitch take the points lead in the Desert Classic Tour.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Mitch is a great guy and a damn good pool player, with a big heart. It's in the genes I'm sure!

I'm sorry to hear this as well. I will never forget the sound of him tapping that damned cane everytime those boys came with a shot. :) lol. and let me tell u, there was a lot of tapping going on. We used to joke with him that we were gonna get him a new tip put on because it rattled so much. He will be missed. Keep your heads up Mitch and Tanner, and know that he was extremely proud of both of you!

Warren Ellerman was a dear and loving man. His genuine sweet nature and devotion to his son's Tanner and Mitch was always so wonderful to witness. The old saying the fruit does not fall far from the tree is so true. Both Tanner and Mitch are true and kind, funny and talented, they are both wonderful people much like their father. All my love and prayers to them and their entire family as they move through this time of loss.

Losing someone you love is indescribable. It touches each person on a core level individually. Days occur sometimes in a blur and moments when we relive our relationship with the person we lost like a movie in our mind as our heart aches. Time does heal however and soon the the heart is not so clenched and our thoughts are replaced with happy memories and love lessons we learned in the relationship. Then eventually we get to a place in time where we say to ourselves we hope they are proud of who we've become and live life for that answer to be yes. As painful as the death of someone we love it has also the ability to teach: to be patient with ourselves and others, to love ourselves and others.

God bless you Mitch and Tanner,
Holly

Warren was a great guy, with a good sense of humor. I'm sure going to miss him about....He loved the pool scene, and just loved watching the 'kids' play.

Mitch is a great kid...Warren did well.

Here's something I'll never forget...As soon as Mitch had the $$$ in hand from the last tourny...he said "I'm going to get my Dad a big Prime Rib dinner now".

It might not sound like much...but to me, it said it all.

You hold you're head up Mitch...he was awfully proud of you. And rightfully so......

This has to be so tough,I know Mitch is a strong kid and his father is big reason why he is strong and a good person.I am all for helping in anyway I can and plan on helping to organize a benefit tournament at Kolby's also.I think that Warren is in a better place and is not suffering.I know Mitch said 2 weeks or so ago his dad was out of the hospital and doing better, its just too bad.Well perhaps we can setup a donation fund here on AZ through Paypal or something, would not be a bad way to start.

Great Idea Lenny. I have already had a couple people contact me to send me personally their donations and I'll hand deliver. My contact info is on the front of azpoolscene.com if any others would like to send anything.

I also have paypal at jerrystuckart@hotmail.com if you would like to send it there.

Mitch and Tanner do not have a lot of family and their Dad was their major support system.

That is very sad news as Warren Ellerman was a very nice man, I only knew him from when he was ruining the Tuesday Tournments at River City Pockets.

Jerry,
Thank you for posting the information for the upcoming Memorial tournaments and possible timeline for the funeral. This will allow some time for scheduling and making it possible to attend some of these events, most importantly the funeral.

My condolences to Mitch and Tanner on their great loss. I know what it is to lose your Dad and the lasting effect it will have on both young men. Our thoughts, prayers and actions should be with these two young men at this time in their lives.

God Bless.

George

This is some truly sad news. I know Warren has been fighting the cancer for awhile now and I know his suffering is finally over. My deepest condolences to Mitch and Tanner, as I know he was your biggest fan and supporter. He was a great guy that was really proud of his sons. He will be missed around the Arizona tourney trail...

Mitch...my thoughts and prayers are with you and Tanner.

I have always admired the relationship you had with your Dad and I know how proud you were of each other. It was obvious that in addition to being your father...he was also your best friend.

I believe your Dad will always be with you...watching and rooting you on in everything you do on your life's journey and I firmly believe that you will continue to make him proud.

God bless you and your family.
