Who is the best pool playing Celebrity

Jerry Orbach was certainly able to run 60 or 70 in straight pool, but I was once told that actor Danny Aiello, whom I've never seen shoot, played quite a bit stronger than Jerry.

I heeard of this too, I thnk bobby hunter was telling me!!

Billy Bob Thornton. I have played with him and he is SERIOUS!!! He has a custom cue, his own table and a serious love of the game!

Hey Jam, I used to play "Corn Flakes" back in Philly around the early 80's. He was a very good player at back pocket 9-ball. Just ask the Fusco's, they know him well.

Trust me, he was and is a very smart guy with gambling on all kinds of things.
Hope you and keith are well.

Take care and GOD bless
Your friend for ever,
Mark Gregory

Cornflakes quit about 5 years before I started, but they still talk about him in Philly. He was the best in the city at backpocket 9 ball. And there were only a couple guys who could beat him at straight up 9 ball in the city. This is when Philly had TOP players, on a national level.

Mark, you will always represent fond memories for me. After all, you were there at the beginning of my pool journey with Keith. Poor Marcus had to post his visa at the hotel next door to the pool room because Keith had no ID.

You used to play Corn Flakes? Wow, Mark, you did used to really get around! I think those days just may have been the final frontier for the action players.

With the Internet, cell phones, and pool forums, the on-the-road action has kind of diminished, compared to then.

I sure do hope y'all are doing well. We're keeping our head above water, trying to keep healthy, and looking forward to what's next on the agenda in our lives. How cool it is that you can make a living in the industry that you love. It's nice when that happens.

You take care too. God bless you and yours, Mark! Happy trails to you until we meet again.

Game Elevation...

Boinking Angelina has to raise your speed a couple of notches....

This has been covered before, but by far the best is Mark Kendall, lead guitarist with 'Great White'. Unless you consider Bill Marop a celebrity. Then I'd go with Bill.

Maropolis won a lot of racing titles and would have to be considered a celebrity. Several 100 + ball runs and counting.

Jennette Lee has to qualify as a celebrity.

I gather Ronnie O'Sullivan is pretty well known in the UK, and in fact he's been interviewed as a celebrity guest on Top Gear.

Several of the Filipino players enjoy celebrity status in the PI, from what I understand.

As far as people who are celebrities for reasons other than their prowess with a cue, I'd bet on Brandon Shuff over ANY of them, in a heartbeat.

He's not a celebrity (although apparently better known than I realized), but his game was mentioned as a point of comparison, and I was saying I don't think any celebrity could beat him on their best day.

James Garner lesson from Dick Jabocy[SP?] also was mention by Minnesota Fats, did a tv serie where he live in a pool hall. and from Norman, ok

Then There was Bob Hope

Wow - that's pretty good for a guy who was totally an entertainer. Jerry was a very good Broadway singer and performer (yeah, he could really sing), and a great actor when given the opportunity (see Prince of the City to see what he could do in a serious role).

Gleason territory, I imagine. Or maybe better. SJM, you personally saw him play?

As for Danny Aiello - a former Greyhound bus driver union boss who became a really strong character actor - I hope what you say is true.

Two of my favorites.

Let's not forget about our own az guy !

Joe Rogan who post here from time to time is said to play pretty sporty.

Please understand my disagreement but Rogan is a mouth, not a celebrity. When he gets in a ring and starts putting his money where his mouth is, I'll might start respecting him.

Now take Jet Li, a fabulous snooker player. I saw him kick a ball out of a snooker pocket, jump up and kick the same ball in mid air hitting his opponent's mother in the forehead. NOW THAT IS TALENT!
