When did Walmart start selling Schons???

Collection

I don't know what the big deal is. I have been buying my cues at Walmart for years.

Wal-mart selling Schon cues could have a negative effect on your traditional vintage Wal-mart cue collection.

Time to start a raffle "feeler" to see how much you should charge per spot.

I'll take #14 & 39

> My girlfriend pointed this out to me like a week before Christmas. She got my real-deal Steelers game jersey off that site too.

If it's any consolation, places that sell swimming pools, hot tubs, and stuff like that often sell cues and/or tables. I hooked a local doctor up with a Schon that got sent to our local pool/spa retailer by accident, which worked out for him cause he knew them and bought his table there. There was a place in Akron up the road from Starcher's that had Joss,Schon, and even Kersenbrocks for sale.

I personally don't think they will sell that many. I can see one scenario where this could get interesting.

We've all seen any number of sites that sell Schons, and unless the cue is fairly unique, everyone online uses the pics and descriptions from the Schon site. If these cues work anything like other stuff ordered off this site, you can arrange for in-person pickup at ANY Wal-Mart. You order a cue thinking it's going to look like the picture, but the same design in a different color combo shows up,or maybe has the wrong color wrap, and you can always send it back. You might even do so in reverse, and keep sending them back until you find one you like .

You can always take a shaft with a "taper roll" back up to a year later too.Tommy D.

what i want to know is who are going to be doing the returns....i can see a problem allready...."i just got me cue in and the shaft is warped" and if the replace it.or even better yet the butt has a roll out"..if they do i see some people send warped shafts and butts back to them and having them replaced...we all know that you can make a shaft look unused by having it recondtioned also with a butt....i think that they are getting into more trouble than it will be worth for them..i dont have a problem who sells what but man they are opening them selfs up for some serious screwing...not everyone is honest and i can promise you this is the people who are not find this out they will be scaming walmart in several diffrent ways....just my 2 cents but i wonder if they have thought about this...

Wal-mart sell everything, and in the Blackfoot Idaho there is a Medical Office in the store, so you can get you ilness treated at Wal-mart. Thingd too come in all Wal-marts?

you guys are missing the point Wal Mart is just a middle man to open up the door to a wider market. They are still being produced by the same means. I just looked at the site they are selling Mcdermott, Predator, Viper(not saying much) BUt Pool table felt and Equipment. They are just another source.

Have a McDermott Prestige cue up there for $3100 Seriously doubt they would be the manufacturer if for that type of pricelist.

Not for nothing either but the cues themself are the same price as if you went to Seyberts or something.

Until Wal Mart takes over the production I think all is still fine. Although it does loose the lust when you tell someone you just bought your beautiful cue from walmart.

That is a valid question:wink:...But Wal-mart selling Schons is very surprising.

Schon is just another mass produced cue. Why wouldn't they sell to Wal Mart? Whose gunna tell them no?

In this world the $$$$ comes first. It comes before honor or integrity, truth or dignity. Have yearly increases, no matter what, do anything you have to do but make money for the stockholders, DO IT... or lose your managerial job. Period.

I'm not saying it's right. I'm saying that IS the way it is.

Personally, I am not a big fan of "the world has changed" and a "global economy" BS. What it means is that affluent countries farm out the manufacturing to poorer countries. Now, that is supposed to be great for everybody...the affluent get their products for lower prices due to the cheaper labor abroad, and the poorer countries' citizens are helped by the influx of better wages and more jobs. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Take a good look at the "global economy" of today's market....sort of sux, if you ask me.
Joe

Joe is correct.I have experienced the process of selling to wllyworld. They only want one thing.Every other retailers customer. At any cost.

a true story

a few years ago at the glass city open in november i bought 15k worth of schons from omega mike from texas at 50% off across the board my thoughts were to sell at the derby in january i had three poeple there at the derby tell me they could buy these from friends locally for 50% off but the best one that i still laugh about was the guy telling me his barbrer was a schon dealer years ago schons were like gold there was only a handful of dealers schon shot themselfs in the foot when they let anyone with cash be a dealer no store front required anyone with cash can buy i have also been told but not sure if its true that some get discounts of up to 70% off in my opion this has only hurt the value of the schon brand

I agree totally. And there will be a day, if this continues, the affluent countries will not be able to afford even the cheaper products that this kind of thinking was suppose to bring, because "they don't have a job". Then who will be the poorer countries?

I think it's pretty cool to see a company like Schon get involved with a huge company like Wal-Mart. Everyone talks about getting outside sponsors in pool stuff like this does not hurt IMO.

Probably just a drop ship deal but still they are in the mix.

<----would give several body parts to have Wal-Mart pimping TAR stuff.

Part of the benefits for the dirty old man greeter is he gets to give free breast and crouch inspections to young girls in the back room.

That's why some of us here on AZ have worked our tails off to make sure the people we sell to are completely satisfied. Check out the iTraders of the people you deal with. I know there are several people on this website that I would not hesitate to send a cue to before I received their money, and I know they would do the same for me, because they've done it.
I hope I'm not embarassing anyone but Bill (Cornerstone), Doug (DWBOD), Jamie (Worminator), have all sent me cues before I've paid for them, and I've done the same for them. These relationships have been built over time and I know for a fact these guys are rock solid. I've left out dozens of other awesome AZers, but I mention these three just because of the circumstances that be, there was a time-crunch, and I needed a cue asap and they understood the situation. So while I understand your comments about dealing with an honest vendor, there are honest people here as well...

I, in no way, implied that there aren't honest people on this site. I have 18 or 19 trades myself without a single problem. I believe that the vast majority are honest. Unfortunately, there are a few that don't quite fit that description. I think the greatest assets of this forum are the members themselves. There's a lot of experienced and knowledgeable pool players here that very kindly share their knowledge with duffers like myself. Sorry that my post offended you.

You figured the prices would be cheaper at Walmart, haha, looks like they are actually more money there.

Dale Perry, meet Schon. Schon, meet Dale Perry. Now hold hands and take care of the clean up on aisle 4.

Im not a big fan of walmart either, but i still think schon cues are great. There are many things i own that are sold at walmart, however i did not buy them there. I chose to support different companies. I dont see the sense to like or dislike something based on fact that walmart happens to sell it.

There is nothing wrong with Wal Mart's online store selling good cues. This is only an upside for the billiard industry as Wal Mart shoppers can see that higher end cues exist.

It's not like the cues are on display in the stores and frankly what would be the problem if the were?

Wal Mart sells a lot of high end stuff. They sell Ipods and other good brands of products.

If they ever did pick up Schon in the stores then Schon would instantly become the largest cue manufacturer in the United States.

I did a presentation sketch once for a client who did a presentation for Sports Authority. Sports Authority was looking to buy 10 models of cues and stock 5 pieces per store in something like 200 stores. 10,000 cues in one shot.

Imagine what Wal-Mart can do with 4200 stores in the USA alone. Imagine if they promoted pool as a great activity and sold proper equipment in their stores.

I don't understand why everyone complains about the demise of pool and then complains when pool receives free promotion.

"WalMart itself" is not selling Schon, McD, etc.
Question is who contracted to sell on walmart.com.

Couldn't agree with you more John.

I just lost all of the respect I had for Schon. I have been a big fan for years and can tell you honestly I will be selling what Schon's I have left. I wish them the best, maybe Big lots will take the seconds that are not good enough for walfarts.

Doug

What's your beef with walmart if you don't mind me inquiring?
