A lot of us in New York City remember 10 East 21st Street by its most recent name, Broadway Billiards, but its roots actually trace to when The Color of Money hit box offices and poolrooms started popping up everywhere. Back then, it was called Society Billiards and it can be perceived as a product of pool's TCOM Revival.
This Spring, we intend to rekindle that revival. As I stated in a previous thread, the Society Billiards team is intent on bringing the very best the industry has to offer. Thankfully, the industry makes this task rather difficult. The following is what I can tell you for now:
We will have:
Diamond Pro/Am tables
Super Aramith Balls
Simonis Cloth
When we acquired the space, nothing but the bathrooms remained (not even the green paint on the walls) and for those that felt a special connection with those bathrooms, I'm sorry but they've been demolished too. Our intent is to bring a room that is more spacious (including the bathrooms), more comfortable and better suited for longevity but also ideal for competitive pool.
As for me, I quit my job at Conde Nast last week. I know many people want to know why. All I can tell you is, pool is very important to me. It's been important to me my entire life and I felt it was time to put this part of my life in the forefront. What made the decision even easier was knowing the rest of the Society Team, all friends, feel the same way.
We are still under construction. We are weeks away and we intend on opening as soon as possible which is why no opening date has been posted yet. This is a very exciting time and I hope many of you in New York City join us for our Grand Opening and for those here on AZBilliards who are not in New York City, please stop by and introduce yourself.
Thank you,
Jude Rosenstock
