Billy,i hope you can come to an understanding...
...like the scores on the 'wire' at the Rack.
Even if you take a beating ,at least the action goes on.
And when i thought about it,i can understand not posting.
Lots of big action is on the honor system.

And Jam,i like your avatar...it's homey...uh..in the old-fashioned sense:)

Billy Incardona and I hardly ever agree on anything. We have been arguing with each other for almost 50 years, but when it comes to gambling he dont miss a trick. In a gambling session he might be wrong about what shot to shoot, but as far as the stipulations and the conditions of the bet, you can bet parts of your body that his side is sporting all the facts. I have never seen him put in a phoney claim in my whole life. So I dont need a Scott Frost to verify Billy's story, if Billy said it, that's exactly what happened. He cant shoot straight no more, but he can still think and strategize. Dont dare bet that he is losing it in those departments. As far as negotiations go, he has no peer. I dont know Viffer, but it dont take a prosecution atty to see that his story is weaker than my nine ball break. The fact that he put in a claim after a neutral guy gave a decision, and threatened to not pay off anything when he was in effect 14 games loser, is a pretty good character indicator.

Very well said, and I'm betting 99.9% right on the money.
I also trust that Bill will handle this better than 99.9% of the players in the world.
As far as not shooting straight anymore, he did on me!
I hope this gets resolved and quickly. There is not a sicker feeling than being stiffed by someone you trust.

Bishop, I notice you have quite a few posts on the NPR section of this forum. They have some great debates there about a wide range of non-pool-related topics, but to label a challenge match as an "illegal endeavor" is kind of odd on a pool forum! :grin-square:
My main point was that it wasn't becoming of the sport. My other point simply pointed to the irony of the thread. Perhaps I'm wrong but technically I believe it is illegal.

I admit that I predominately posted to offer up another perspective.

...and it was a boring Saturday afternoon until I found this thread.

winner winner chicken dinner

Well, I'm kind of glad to read all about the Tales of Las Vegas in 2010.

It sure does brighten up my otherwise dull world of work, work, and more work.

After all, this is exactly the stuff that movies are made of. "The Hustler," probably one of the all-time best pool movies ever, has a lot of similarities to this thread -- the backers committee and the chop-chop, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. :o

In fact, when "The Color of Money" came out, another gambling pool movie about two players on the road hustling their way to Atlantic City for the big tournament, pool in these United States of America had a boom in popularity.

Like it or hate it, you have the pool purists who think gambling is a dirty word, and then you have the players who like to stack it as high as the Georgia pine. Either way, pool can be a real thrill, but to each their own. :winknudge:

If I have to put up with the emotionless robotic tournament soldiers, then I don't see anything wrong with others putting up with the excitement of two players engaging in a game of high stakes.

Where I disagree with you is that Scott did his job in all the crucial areas. He was able to get Dippy down and beat him for the max. and it wasn't because the way Scott handled himself that made Dippy quit, but it was the beating that Scott gave to him that not only took his cash but his heart as well. At the end of the session Dippy had realized that he gave Scott his best shot and Scott still was standing tall. Scott endured everything that Dippy put on him, including the bad hit claim, and still couldn't win. Dippy then probably said f--k it i'm done with this guy and did what he felt was best for Dippy. One thing is for sure, Scott didn't lose anything for playing as well and hard as he did, and Dippy didn't win anything for stiffing everyone. And when it is all over and done, that's when everyone will realze that the only winner here is Scott.

Billy, I'm sure you're right. He must have played well to win at that spot. Seems almost too good to be true. Didn't they start out playing one-pocket? And what was that game and result? Oh, and I didn't mean anything against Scott in that earlier post directed at DD, was just trying to make him see the light and do the right thing. Hope all is well. Look out for Danny for me will you, he'll be there soon if he's not already. He'll explain why I ask. Sherm

Wow, even Travis Trotter is weighing in on this.

You really don't like Scott do you?

I don't like him or dislike him. I'm ambivalent. However to say that Scott is the only winner in this ugly affair just seemed really funny to me. Like there was anything close to a winner in this whole mess.

kill em with kindness

There are no clear winners in this situation...Could have been handled better by all parties involved...100k score is still a hell of a take..especially these days...& I'll go on a limb and guess that was 2 to 1 odds on the money...with such a spot If Dave would have won the 1st set I seriously doubt there would have been a 2nd much less a 3rd..not saying it's right or wrong cuz really only 2 people in the whole world knows the absolute truth...again hindsite is 20/20 but when you have somebody trying to go off it's best to just be as nice as possible & let him sail....If Scott would have killed him with kindness I'm sure none of this would have happened...whatever it was that happened 2 wrongs don't make a right but I do believe Scott shot his own self in the foot by his actions.
I agree Houma, Scott blew his big toe right off.

I've been reading this from the beginning, but maybe I missed something. Didn't I read that Dippy got assaulted and robbed (attempted, at least) by a thug because of this? I'm not saying right/wrong of the situation, but if Dip could prove that guy was a hired hand - the only loser is Scott (for assault and attempted robbery). The rest is he-said, she-said (and is really unfortunate).

I'm thinking about removing the avatar function, so I don't have to look at yours!

My 7-year old grandson saw it and wanted me to enlarge it . I guess the nut didn't fall too far from the tree ;)!!!
