Worlds Greatest Player vs. the Peoples Champion

I think he's got a shot....he def has a chance. (Dippy do too)

What you guys don't know, or aren't taking into consideration is his health.

He hasn't been healthy in a long, long time.

your right i dont know anything about his health.

i do know he in for a beat down in this match.

Is that right?

If I remember correctly, the soft break evolved was around for a few years before it was outlawed.

How many world championships-major titles did Cory win during the 'soft break' period? One...2001 US Open

And I don't think the soft break was used then....

Cory is a fine player and all, but 'the best' is stretching it a bit. (No disrespect to Cory at all, as I'm pretty sure he'd agree.)

You obviously don't remember correctly.

Ok. Understood

Do you think Earl would win if he were in his prime? Say, 20 years ago or so?

On a side note, I think it is quite strange that Earl is insisting on a 10 X 5 table. I mean, just play on a standard 9 footer with tight pockets. 10 footers are so rare, just play on a 9 footer- in fact I don't think I've ever seen a 10 footer in any pool hall I've been to and I've been to many. I doubt Earl plays on a 10 footer on any regular basis.

That's kind of what I thought. I doubt that Earl has truly spent much time on ten footers.

I have been playing "seriously" in real pool rooms since 1985ish and I can truly count less than ten times I can remember seeing a 10ft pool table in the pool room and one on hand the times I have seen more than one. In fact I'd be surprised if anyone can tell us of a major nine ball event played on 10ft tables since 1970. Has there been one?

I am in the camp that thinks it won't make a difference in the outcome. Shane will figure out the table easily and then it will be lights out. Earl will have to have a serious serious flashback and keep his pysche in check in order to match Shane's focus.

To me all the pressure is on Earl because he has something to prove. If Shane loses then he loses to a five time World Champion, four time US Open Winner, Challenge of Champions winner, etc..... no shame in that. If Early loses then he loses to someone who has only won the US Open once, No world titles (yet). The only "pressure" on Shane is that he is figured to be playing better so he ought to win. So to me he goes in confident with essentially nothing to lose. That's a pretty tough SVB to shake.

Might be....but he did step up. Open challenge to anyone is pretty strong. I'm sure it wouldn't be the first, and sure won't be the last.

Don't you think it was nice knowing you were the baddest man on the PLANET for years, and years.

Ever wonder how that would feel?

It's better to be a has been rather than a wannabee. ;)

Whether whomever can win or not is almost irrelavent in this match up. I think they have both done enough on the table that they both get utmost respect and props for even wanting to get down with each other. If Earl pulls it off he deserves props. SVB is a demon and when they made pool players they made him. All I'm hoping for is a semi close match that opens some eyes. They are both true champions and hopefully they find a table to get down on and all this anticipation is only going to be good for sales.

Hard to call a guy that gets tiny spots from US Open champions (rodney, daz, john schmidt) a wannabee. I think for what he's blessed with and worked at that Bartram is a hell of a player. He's like the best guy at a pool hall except he can win against the best guy from your pool hall all day long. Last time I checked there's no shame in swinging it and at least Bart swings it.

I think everyone wonders how it would feel to be the very best at anything, that's why we wake up in the morning.

yes a wannabee.
there are about 15 guys in the usa who are fav over me.
how do you rank?

Do these haters have a clue how little the called 8 or last two means at world class speed? Not near as much as when they give it to their buddy at pool league....

Bart, tell us a little story about the last person you played who wasn't a US Open or World Champion.....

I didn't call anyone a wannabee....please show me where I did.

If someone thinks the shoe fits.....it isn't my fault.

He's got my respect as a player.

I just don't care for his lack of respect for the players that helped build the game.

Douche

You are a douche. If you like Earl so much, why dont you reach down between your legs and see if you find anything. When you don't, keep your mouth shut.

Who appointed you as Douche bestower. I hope you have the $ to back up your lack of respect bet that you placed against Earl. You must have more money than sense . And yes I did put my $ on Earl through another AZ member. Who's your douche bag?:D

Are you accusing Billy of airing someone? Last I checked he is good action, are you? How much money are you putting on this and how come you are using another member instead of posting yourself since I am assuming you aren't on the GAL? I for one like seeing a thread like Billy posted...shows stones and gamble.

I appointed myself. I have the money especially when all of you guys yapping about Earl winning dont have the heart to bet. And you say you bet on Earl. Sure you did. Did you get 3 to 1 on your money??? I doubt it, and if you still bet, you are a confirmed douche as well. Congrats.

It actually very much sounds like you are calling Chris a wannabe, but thats just the way it reads to me.

Chris is a great player who plays just below the best on the planet. Imagine what he could give you...

Chris is also a respectful person. He's not disrespecting Earl or his game but simply telling it how it is. Shane is just too good.
