What's the best hitting cue you've played with?

Too many to mention.
The absolute best two that I own and play with so far are a BBC and a Tru Balance converted by Lee Pepper. The only one that I have that is even or close is a Sly sneaky. I don't suspect that in my travels, I will come across any that play as well. I'm waiting on another from Lee that I'm pretty sure will fit in there nicely.

The War Department put a hold on the Cue Funding so the one from Lee will be my last for a while, or until I liquidate some of my Closet Queens.

I've heard many posters say that they sold a cue that they wished they had never gotten rid of.
I don't plan on putting myself in that position as I know these particular ones can never be replaced.

i got and old TB sneaky made by bobby nickerson. and older cue fixxer from the cincy area. i been thinking about getting it rehabed and fixed up. its seen better days. the shaft is still 14mm and old as father time.

Until last Sat. I would of said a Hubler that was broken over a guy's shoulder about 18 years ago and the cue was 10 years old then(a story for another time)...... But a guy let me play with an old Schon (Runde era) last Sat. and I fell in love with it. I asked how much? $3200, I gave it back to him.....HAHAHAHA

Chris,
All this time I didn't know you were a JW fan!

Me too - especially the older ones.

My Bobby Hunter has the best balance (for me) and feedback of ANY cue I've ever hit with, but I still LOVE the old-school "PING" from my early 70's Josswest(s).

The best playing cue I've ever played with is my own cue, a JossWest by Bill Stroud. I cycled through a dozen cues that matched my specs before I hit on this one. It is totally predictable and perfectly suited to my game.

If I ever lost this cue, I would fall into a dark depression and become completely unstable.

My current playing cue.

I like the way my current playing cue hits better than any other I"ve ever hit with. It's a 2009 Mcdermott cue of the year with an I-2 shaft.

Absolutely love it.

there is nothing wrong with this thread.... many people want to know what is the best cue to buy with their money...and i find out this is another different thread with the past thread. The past thread tittle was what is the best hitting cue and the op thread is what is the best hitting cue you ever played with... So it;s really your own experience.

Mine is Jeff Olney and Cory Barnhart....

I havent had as many cue's as a lot of people (200+) but imo this is the best one I have had.

In no particular order: My first Balabushka, any of the TAD's I owned, one very special Tascarella, my current player a Josey and yes a Starkey cue. I also very much like the hit on my original Hank Corsair and my Ned Morris cues.

I am serious when I say that I am a little surprised nobody has mentioned Meucci.

Over the years, there have been a lot of people who have mentioned to me they like the feel of Meucci's, which is distinctive from many of the cues mentiooned, a less firm, softer hit and neutral balance.

Maybe people are just embarassed to say they like them, but I know for a fact many players did and do like them.

Chris

For me, in order:

1974 Joss w/Micarta Joint
1975 Joss
1981 Schon S14
1973 JossWest (owned by Louie Roberts)
1982 Schon R12
2008 Shawn Putnam SP
2008 Carolina Custom Merry Widow

you still have the bobby hunter?

top 3 cues

i played for 20 years with a joss west, a one piece titlist, and these photos are of my playing cue at this time. a straight grain maple into straight grain maple full splice. this cue was made from an ' american classic ' one piece cue. wood pin, no rings, no ferrule with a laminated hard tip. you have to look close but you can see the splice. it plays as good as any cue i have ever had in my hands.
