Scooter - the louie roberts winner

Imagine if pool tournaments were like Horse and Greyhound Racing where no felon is aloud to take part. Not that they police it very good. Tampa's biggest mob boss and very powerful in the U.S mob overall had horses at Tampa Bay Downs and other tracks in FL. Johnnyt

There ya go jobnnyt.

Thinking outside the box for solutions for pro pools woes!

You laugh but I swear to God this is a true story. I was at the local pool hall here and West Virginia football is on, and WV wins the game.

The whole place goes nuts and starts singing that song! I swear that is the truth.

The guy I am playing and I stop playing pool and I ask do they do that after EVERY GAME ?!?!?

Just as smooth as cucumber he says, No, just if they win.

OMG, just as long as I dont hear a guy on a banjo I am good.

Ken

if you do, just paddle faster. :D

best,

Did they go to court yet?

I believe that part of the Community Service was to work for the car wash owner doing car washes while wearing Banana Hammocks.

I think that they got paid in quarters.

Ken,

Is the guy in his early 40's? I am from Ohio and when I was in college played someone my age who shot real strong, and he went by Scooter. He was from Ohio. South Central Ohio if I remember correctly. Went to a small college. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the college he went to.

If you're in West Virginia, we'll have to meet up some time and shoot. Judging by your posts, I'd love to meet you sometime......lol

Haven't seen scooter for a few years, but he looked really young at the time. I'd guess he's in his mid-twenties now.

There are quality peeps and shitheads in all walks of life. That's why I don't discriminate: death and hatred to mankind...

Thing is, pool gave an award to this shithead, for gambling with what was likely stolen money. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Jeanette Lee also a Louie Roberts award recipient?

LETO1776,

members of this forum gave the award to scooter, not pool in general.
I doubt any one thought about where the money came from that he was gambling with.

Nobody questions where the money comes from that is added to some pool tournaments. Not all of that money comes from clean hands, but yet when added to a pool tournament, nobody utters a peep about the money's origin and how it was made.

Certainly something to think about in the future.

First time I ever saw Scooter was at the Super Billiards Expo at the action table. He was really young. I don't think he was even 18 yet. He was betting high with a lot of side bets, drumming up action. A year later, I saw him at the Derby City Classic. A local friend of Keith's name Berle seemed to really enjoy Scooter's demeanor, how he barked to get action.

Like many young'ns that may not have mentors to lead them in the right direction when growing up, it is making that fast money in pool and action that sometimes can lead to other things down the road.

Coins have been a staple of road players for as long as I can remember, and I'll guarnatee you that it was a pool person that introduced Scooter to ripping off coins. It's been an occupational hazard in the pool world for several decades.

I think this is Scooter in the light blue shirt on the left, barking at the crowd, getting his side bets going at the action table. That's Tony Ruberto with his arms in the air. The kid putting the coins in the table, he's a 8-ball champ from Pennsylvania, but I can't remember his name. And the guy with his back to me wearing that gray shirt, that's Keith. The waiting list to play on this table had over 25 names on it. If the breaker held the table for consecutive games, you coudl win a nice chunk of change -- fast money -- betting on the side.
