Emails From Mr. Herman

Its obvious that Mr Herman is mentally ill. Thats not funny or anything to joke about. These threads should be deleted since its only setting him off. Out of sight-out of mind.....AZ-delete all threads involving Mr Herman-he is clearly dangerous to others and himself.

ITs not very funny either when herman munster oh i sorry ,herman hole makes death threats to many az members!

I'm sure that most of us have thought of the possibility that at some point, Herman may actually act out his threats in real time instead of using the internet.

Innocent people will be harmed. Is Herman married? Does he have any family? As strange as it might seem, he just might have a couple of people that care about him. Have they not taken any steps to help him.

I think in the past few years we have all read of instances like this where presumably sane people have gone off on full tilt and done horrible crimes.

Obviously Herman isn't sane at this time and as far as I am concerned, he is giving off huge warning signs. Do we need him to walk into a huge event and open fire on everyone. Bad visual and I'm sorry, it is a definite possibility.
He does seem to be focused on the pool world lately. Its pretty obvious that he just might be a time bomb waiting to go off.

I think at this time, anyone that has had contact with him to gather all the evidence together and make it available to the proper authorities in his area and maybe with a court order, he can be forced to have a evaluation and further steps be taken to ensure the safety of the people that he is threatening.

In the future, I'd sure as hell hate to read that something has happened to my friends and acquaintances on AZ.

I got a note from him today proudly proclaiming how he was going to shut down the site with the help of our host nameking.com.

nameking.com is a registrar. Not a hosting company. And AzB is not registered with nameking anyways. As a matter of fact, I don't have any domains registered with nameking.

Mike

so it's safe to say he hasn't taken any Detective 101 classes?

I mean really... any whois search is NOT going to give him nameking. How would he have came up with that name?

But I can see his movement is already having his desired effect:D

All I can say from attempting to decipher what Jerry posted, is WOW!

P.S... I think the people that say they know him and think he's such a nice guy and everything, should think about giving him a call and try to feel him out as to whether someone needs to file a EPC on him.

I am in pretty good company I guess. Today I received my very own Marty Manifesto. As far as I am concerned he has crossed the line from harmless online behavior to becoming a threat to my and others livelihoods and reputations.

I agree with you Justin. I really think he's went over the line. I would contact a lawyer with this information of what Marty's doing and see what can be done to stop him before he hurts somebody. I heard he's had it bad for AZB because the site was his idea or something to that effect, but now he's going after everbody it seems. I hope he gets help soon cause the mind is a beautiful thing to waste.

Just to shed some light on the truth behind Marty and his dealings with AzB...

Maybe 10 years ago I went to Derby and ended up sharing a room with Marty. He offered to do some sales for the site back then. (This was before Jerry came to his senses and came on board). I asked a couple people about Marty as I was just a baby when it came to some of the folks in the industry. The people that I asked kind of chuckled when I asked, but the consensus was that "Marty was someone who got results".

I agreed to bring him on to sell ad banners and he would get a commission on each banner sold.

Derby wasn't even over before I had multiple vendors come to me and tell me that they had spoke to Marty and if the way he did business was the way that AzB did business, then they would never do business with AzB.

I asked Marty about it and he explained that he was a no nonsense kind of guy and just told it like he saw it.

After enough complains I told Marty that he was going to have to tone down his attitude if the relationship had any chance of working. He quickly refused saying that he knew one way to do business.

At that time, I told him that we were done working together.

He had worked one or two deals with cue makers who were not put off with him and I let him keep the cue from one of those deals so that we would be even.

Since that day, all I have heard from Marty is threats and attacks.

He claims that AzB was his idea, he is now trying to spread the rumor that I was somehow involved with the Annigoni event that players are still waiting for payment on (not sure how he came to that conclusion). He claims that we have some vendetta against everyone from Edwin Reyes to Mike Surber to Adam Smith to Marty himself.

While I do agree that he is not stable, this is not anything new with him. He has been this way for many years.

Anyone who has met him knows this. And he claims that every pro player is his best buddy. He has even claimed that he and Mark Griffin are tight. If he is to be believed, every top pro in the US is going to try to destroy AzB because of the terrible things we are doing to Marty. All because they are his friends.

At least he is good for a chuckle every once in a while when I check my mail.

Mike

Well, I have been told by Marty that he is fully in control of his faculties so there you go folks. I'd suggest highly that you either ignore him or you take appropriate steps relative to the level of harassment you are receiving.

Jerry, maybe you will get the results you are after. :-)

I recently worked on a job pertaining to this topic of cyberharassment.

The Internet Crime Complaint Center, "IC3," is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National White Collar Crime. IC3's mission is to serve as a vehicle to receive, develop, and refer criminal complaints regarding the rapidly expanding arena of cyber crime.

The IC3 gives the victims of cyber crime a convenient and easy-to-use reporting mechanism that alerts authorities of suspected criminal or civil violations. For law enforcement and regulatory agencies at the Federal, State, and local level, IC3 provides a central referral mechanism for complaints involving Internet-related crimes:
http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

Internet-related crime, like any other crime, should be reported to appropriate law enforcement investigative authorities at the local, State, Federal, or international levels, depending on the scope of the crime. Citizens who are aware of Federal crimes should report them to local offices of Federal law enforcement.

Those who feel they are being harassed are directed to contact their local FBI office: http://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field/field-offices

Cyberharassment on the Internet can take place in a number of ways. One form may involve sending unwanted, abusive, and threatening or obscene e-mails. There is no universal definition of "cyberstalking," but it refers to the use of the Internet, e-mail, or other electronic devices to pursue another person. Cyberstalking may arise when an individual pursues or repeatedly attempts to contact someone via the Internet.

Internet harassment laws make it a criminal act to use the Internet to threaten, torment, stalk, intimidate or otherwise distress a person. Legislation and enforcement varies from one jurisdiction to another, but Internet harassment laws are put in place to protect potential victims from the trauma of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and other forms of Internet harassment. In some regions, provisions have been made within broader harassment laws specifically relating to the Internet and other forms of communication.

Legal definitions of Internet harassment vary slightly from one region to another, but most jurisdictions agree on the basic principles. When determining the difference between simple rudeness and criminal harassment, authorities are likely to consider issues such as the attacker’s apparent intent, the frequency of the remarks or postings, evidence of premeditation or information gathering, whether others were encouraged to participate in these acts, and whether remarks or attacks were directed specifically at the victim.

A number of other States have anti-stalking laws that include electronic/cyberspace harassment. These States include: Arizona (Arizona Criminal Code (1995): 13-2921), Alaska (Alaska Criminal Law Sec. 11.41.270), Connecticut (Connecticut Penal Code Sec. 53a-183), New York (New York Penal Code § 240.30), Oklahoma (Oklahoma (1996): §21-1173), and Wyoming (Wyoming 6-2-506). Many other States, including Florida, Georgia, California and Colorado have still not updated their stalking laws to recognize cyberspace as a valid location for stalking.

I have no interest in the outcome of the subject matter in this thread, but I have recently done a fair amount of research on this topic for another endeavor and thought I would contribute a few tidbits and a couple copy-and-pastes to the thread. :)

I agree with the sentiment that MH is not a well person and, IMO, it's inappropriate to make jokes about that aspect.

That said, no one should sit idle if they feel they are receiving credible threats. You would never want to find yourself on the back side of a bad event wishing you would have done something that could have prevented it.

I do wonder, though, what is Jerry hoping to achieve by posting these MH emails?

Is it just to create a public record of having received them? Or is it an opportunity to set the record straight over MH's claim that azb was his idea?

Whatever the reason, I don't think posting his emails here is a good way to achieve peace and quiet.

It may be prudent, however, to involve the police if you feel your safety is at risk.

Best,
Brian kc

If everyone would just ignore him then he would go away.
A new low. :scratchhead:

Hell, that strategy won't work on YOU, let alone someone as "persistent" as Marty. Afterall, you have been BANNED (kind of the strongest IGNORE you can put on someone, right?) and it didn't stop you from posting away, Karen...errr I mean John.

Daddy always told me that you are judged by the company you keep.

I read this complete thread. All I can say is WOW!! (jk,,I can say more)

This guy has a consistent "crazy wrong " way of saying things,,that is for sure!!

For most,,like me,,, can look at this and laugh or more likely cringe. But for the people that know him personally I am a little worried for.

The things he says, I believe ,are real in his head and he is pissed. If he knows where you live or where you go,ect,,I don't think you should be taking this lightly.

I don't know internet laws on this ,,but I'm pretty sure with all the messages with threats and rants,,,he is well past the point of legal.

It might be time to do something about it.

I have to agree that there is a mental illness issue here. Does anyone know if Marty has any family that cares about his well-being? Even if this angry behavior seems in keeping with his personality, the fact that he is sending threats to so many indicates that something may have shifted.

I have an uncle who suffers from severe bipolar disorder. Sometimes when he was headed into a manic episode he would stay up at night writing crazy letters like the ones you've posted and then drop them in the mail before sunrise. In the morning, he would be pretty much normal, maybe a little irritable.

If the letters were sent to family, we could act and get him help. But if they went to others, he frightened people, destroyed friendships, and other relationships, and we wouldn't know until long after the fact. The sooner we caught the mania, the easier it was to control.

Eventually, the right doctor finally found a way to get his moods stabiliized and this hasn't happened in a long time.

But my point is, especially if angry rants aren't that unusual for him, those closest to him may not be aware of what's happening and that its out of control. I'm not saying that he is bipolar, but it sounds like some kind of serious mental health issue. A family member would probably be in the best position to help him.

I must say, this is what one might expect. I've only had the chance to meet this man and his wife in Konigswinter Germany as he was part of our USA team. If I'm correct his wife was a doctor, and a very nice person, but when Marty was told his wife would have to pay to get into the World Championships, he Lit up, mind you, he's in another country one would expect a little more respect, and in spite I remember him selling, or trying to sell his Guiseppe case, I guess tit for tat. Other than that, he seemed different, like all us pool players, but reminded me of a tantrum. One would hope he'll learn from this experience..............
Liscotti should of won that year, if not for whitey off the table one particular break shot, Chang would not of won.
