I worked with my father some before he died and watching Ernesto and Oscar working together recovering those great GC tables at Hollywood Billiards was touching. At one point Ernesto was massaging Oscar's neck as Oscar was doing some repetitive motion on their 7th or 8th table.
I've seen Oscar jump to his dad's defense here on these forums, and I've seen them both sweating each other's action. They are a class pair and I can only wish them the best.

I know that I said I would be at that tournament, but unfortunately, well, fortunately for my marriage, I had to not go this time because I'm focusing on my family right now. I will be going to your next event though. Aren't you having ine in like September or something?
Ok gotta go, just wanted to check in, oh and I'm hoping for Dan to take it down. I'm hoping to play him some this next week. His usual partner's going to be working with my brother who's coming back from Cuba this next week, so maybe I can talk him into playing some. I beat him the last time we played so maybe he's scared. I didn't understand what you meant... are you making a jibe at me or something? I was having some troubles in my marriage that was partly because I am narcissistic and partly because of how much time I devote to pool. It was the fourth of July weekend so I couldn't justify going off by myself for a tournament when I'm trying to focus more on spending time with my family. I had told Jay the last time we talked that I would be at the tournament for sure, but that was before the problems at home, so I came on to apologize to Jay because I am almost invariably a man of my word.
His next tournament I can plan on attending though because I don't think it falls on a holiday weekend. That's all I was saying.

You're doing the right thing. God forbid that you ever get very sick, go to jail, end up broke, or fall upon bad times. Guess what, nobody at the pool room may give you the time of day if this were to ever happen, and you will find out who your real friends are.
Your family will be there for you if you love them, but you have to love them, show them that you care by your actions, in order to be loved back.
Pool will always be there. Your family should always take precedence.

Too bad Sammy can't get himself straight with the gambling itch and come back down to play in some of these events. It's sad to see people with such great talent kind of waste it. That's one of the reasons I don't want to have to give up pool, besides that fact that I don't think my pool playing could survive another long layoff, I don't want to be like my father in twenty years saying, "There was a time when there weren't too many people who could beat me" I want to give myself a fair shake and have something to show for it.
To do that I HAVE to play in events. It sucks because it seems that every time an event comes around something happens and I can't play in it.
Reno, Las Vegas, I mean I got to go play in JAy's ten ball event and I got to play in the swannee at the beginning of the year, but TWO events in a year, I don't think that that is going to give me the seasoning I need to perform well in tourneys.
I'm not much of a money player, so there's no need for people to tell me to step up and play some money matches. I play when I can afford to and when no one will play me just for the love of the game.
That's why I play, I LOVE this game. I want to get to a point in my life where I can give back to this game and try to help it get to that next level. Me and my brother have a plan on how to do that and we're putting that into action as we speak. nothing big, so don't get your hopes up too high. I AM hoping that MArk's plan will help bring pool to another level.

OK got in late. The balls already were clicking. The winners side started and our John Henderson got put to the losers side by One Pocket Rich. THen Scott Frost put Rich into the losers bracket. Rich is now playing Tall Wayne for 5/6. Sylver Ochoa beat Jose and Jose is on the left side of the brackets. Sylver is using the old 8 and out defense. He is traveling with his buddy Jesse. Who got Sylver to come all the way from Texas to get some road experience.
Well Sylver is doing real good as only he and Scott are in the winners side. Sylver did make Frost cry uncle last nite as they kept uping the bet and Frost couldnt get in gear. So Sylver is going home with some good LA money.
Cebuano Danny Petralba who beat Dan Wallis last nite is in a life and death struggle with Rafael.
