Hollywood Billiards- The End???

I made my peace with the fact that Hollywood Billiards hasn't been Hollywood Billiards since it was at Hollywood & Western. All the lamenting about it becoming a techno club is amusing, since that's what it's been in my mind since they re-opened down the street. The red cloth was just an 'I told you so'. :-)

I'm quite sure the cloth is still the same because they changed it in anticipation of this makeover. Otherwise they put that red cloth on just for the Seminole tournament. Doubt that was the case. It sounds like the table lighting is to give the place a movie studio motif. The old lighting was only mediocre anyway.

it is a nice spot if you want to party, but definitely not a pool room.
Cant blame them for trying to make money, that is what having a business is all about.

No I can't blame them, but as a regular at one time I'm horrified. That's too bad.

Those pictures with the lights are incredible. Their menu is awesome, the place looks cool - who can play pool in the dark?

Chris

My friend played there the other night for 10 minutes. He said he couldn't see the numbers on the balls because of the lights.
RIP HB.

I haven't given up hope for this place. They could have made the place hip while still having playable tables. Those lights are a joke.
I hope Jeff comes to his senses and turns that place around.

At this point, I wish they'd just take all the tables out of there. It's no longer a pool room and wont be a hip club til they're gone, if then.

Used to be my favorite place to play in L.A.

I'll check it out next time I'm in town, but I don't have high expectations.

Joe,
I think they are committed to this new direction for the near term anyway. In the meantime I came up with a fitting idea for their new T-shirt design. Tell me what you think:grin: :

Joe Rogan said it best, you cant see the tables, there are 2 2" Low Voltage lights over every table si ots impossible to see the balls good enough to play. And Je again is right he could have made a few tables work for players, upstairs IMO would be fine,

let the ugly people play good ustairs and the pretty people play ugly down stairs

Oh yeah, especially with the upstairs, there's a lot of good solutions.

However, Jeff and his partners didn't choose them (at least for pool players).

Jeff thought it was funny, and made jokes to the pool players (hey man its a POOL HALL who do you expect to come???) that expressed dismay over the red recovering for those flawless super tight Ernesto and Oscar set up Gold Crowns with plenty of space in a beautiful environment with friendly wait staff.

Laughed at them.

I wish him all the luck he deserves.

Kevin
