How do fat people play pool ?

Always a first time for everything  What I find SO funny is that if I would of toned it down a bit and said "over weight " and left off the picture no one would of given me a hard time .We live in a politically correct world that really has a hard time with the truth. I aint hating on anyone or even judging FAT people .In fact I am FAT right now and working on a change by dealing with the facts.

OBESE is the politically correct word :) and if you haven't seen your doctor then do it so you can be sure to be energetic and healthy while losing weight.

Recently I got serious about my commitment to good health .Of course pain being one of the greatest motivators known to man it took me getting fed up !! A good friend and practice partner was over to play on our normal thursday night and I probably lasted about an hour of play and just folded .I told him I ate too much that day and felt like warmed over Sh*T !! I have cut out alot of sugar and most breads and pastas .I still have one slice of Ezikiel bread in the mornings for my toast .The first couple days were tough and I had a couple real bad headaches from the sugar withdrawl. The past three days I can really tell I am turning the corner and have some of my energy back .I need to drop about 35 lbs and have been aware of this for at least 4 years or more .So now that I am really serious about making a change I have a question that keeps naging at me .HOW DO FAT PEOPLE PLAY POOL ?
I'm not wanting to hurt anyones feelings or not be empathetic ,I just watch some guys who are WAY larger than I have ever gotten play pool for hours on end in tournaments and action .Honestly I have no idea how they do it ?? Maybe they have lived that way longer and are just used to being that big.
I'm staying the course this time and hope this thread does not offend anyone or if it does maybe it will spur them on to change as well .View attachment 217009

Hey Matt90,
You can't play pool in your box!!! How did you get in there anyway? You did not step on my toes with your thread!
Look at me, JoeyA took my Lock off of my name all day yesterday. I was running around with my name looking like this, ? N Load. So I took the J and his A off of his name! Now he is oey!!! He, He, He, how is that for messing up a name?
Take it easy Matt90.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load. I got this Lock from PT10?

this question kind of hurt my feelings. sure my belly gets in the way sometimes and i wheeze when i walk around the table but it's kind of mean to start threads that draw attention to it

losing weight is a lot easier than everyone makes it out to be. the problem is that people want to lose weight without actually doing anything. especially women!!! you always see women talking about bs diets or a new weightloss pill. anything to avoid eating healthier and exercising

hate to hear about y'all people

I hate to hear about all you overweight people trying to play pool. I'm not overweight at all, just a little vertically challenged. My weight would be perfectly normal if I was 7'-10.

I have a very very very Bad back, I a total of 8 backs two are putting pressure on nerves. So upon my doctors instructions I went on a diet and lost 71 1/2 pounds. Well, he was completely correct, by losing the weight it cut my pain in more than half. I would recommend weight loss to anyone who suffers from back pain, it is much better than the alternative surgery.

I know it seems like it is impossible to do, at least that is what I thought. Also remember all weight loss pills that are suppose to allow you to do what ever you and eat what ever you want will the weight just go's way are nothing but a gimmick if it sounds to good to be true it is. It is the same with everything, you have to put your mind to it and want to make it happen because if any part of you doesn't think so it is nothing but a waste of your time.

Good luck to everyone, I wish you the best of luck.

Yeah, losing weight is definitely good for your health. I lost 117 pounds and it cured almost all my headaches. One thing I hated though, she made good biscuits!

I dont agree with this. I believe losing weight is 90% diet, and food is highly addictive. People, especially women, use food for comfort and to relieve stress, etc. Its hard to drop an addiction, and you cant use the "cold turkey" method because you need food to live. Lets say you were an alcoholic, and you used to drink 12 beers a day. The best plan is to go cold turkey & remove all beer from the house. However, lets say you had to keep the fridge full of beer, but you were only "allowed" to drink one per day. Thats takes supreme will power!

And dont forget that little thing called genetics!

(I'm not fat, but I have one skinny daughter who lays on the couch all day, and one chubby daughter who runs 5 miles a day = genetics!)

disagree or not it's true. people that are fat are the ones with very little self control. if you watch what you eat and exercise a few times a week and the weight will fly right off of you. especially if you didn't do anything prior to that. you see the fastest gains from working out when you just start out.

running isn't the best way to lose weight. i ran a few times a week and didn't lose much weight from it. get your daughter in the gym doing basic weight lifting and only running 1-2 times a week and she'll lose the weight.

Women use food for comfort and have more weight problems for a few reasons. they have less self control as a whole then men, they don't have as much testosterone so weight they're prone to getting fat, women as a gender are less physical then men so that also adds to them packing on the pounds. women not being as physical is also a part of why they're less likely to get into working out. they do very little running around and physical games growing up so exercise is really foreign to them. if you're really not used to it then the pain from working out can feel pretty bad. since they don't get into physical games or contests that's most of their lives that they've gone without feeling their lungs burn or muscles hurt from working out. if you're not used to it it can feel pretty bad so they avoid it

I am from the total other side of the spectrum and thought I'd give some thoughts from the skinny side of this dicussion. First I commend the OP for taking his health more seriously, it will not be easy to do. I lived in NC for ten years and the 'local' diet is not very conducive for losing weight. I see you put Mayberry in there, are you near My Airy?? Anyway I am probably
5' 9" tall and might weigh 145lbs on a good day. My health is excellent for a guy rapidly approaching 60. My resting heart rate is less than 50 beats a minute. I work out almost everyday at least 6 days a week. When I take my annual physical my doc just laughs and tells me he wishes all his patients were skinny like me. I take no prescription meds. I urge anyone that is having weight issues to take their health much more seriously, all the money in the world will not buy you health. You are what you eat and in NC fatty foods are a mainstay diet, ie biscuits and gravy, fried foods all are your arteries enemies. The ironic thing is my whole life people have commented about my weight (or lack of) and it can be hurtful at times, so I have always been careful not to make fun of people that have weight issues. It goes both ways, BE HEALTHY!!!

some people are just skinny because of their genetics. it's guys like that cracking wise about fat people trying to lose weight that bother me. the truth is they're the same as the fat guys but they were blessed with a fast metabolism.

I'm another from the other end of the spectrum, and it's probably at least partially genetics. I don't have a particularly healthy lifestyle, mainly due to work schedule and such. I dress out at about 180 (6 feet tall) and have been within 10 lbs of that for over 20 years.

What I will tell you is this. Eating less and exercising more will make a substantial change. For a couple of reasons unnecessary to the discussion, I've had to walk a lot more the last several weeks. And I've packed smaller lunches, and had smaller dinner meals. Even with my already slight frame, I noticed a difference, in short order. (Even as "skinny" as people would call me, I have noticed a particular settling around the middle these last few years... getting older and not doing much physically will do that to anyone.)

The message is this....walk. Get moving. It doesn't have to be actual running, just take a brisk walk, every day. Twice a day, if you can. Move fast enough to get your heart moving. Running is great and all, but it is very tough to do and maintain, so it isn't for everyone. But almost everyone can walk. (Swimming is even better, but is also not always easy to arrange for everyone.) Get moving. Walk as much as you can.

If you can make yourself eat less, that's even better. Smaller portions. something we've been working on our youngest son with is letting a meal or even a snack "settle" before eating more. Many times, we feel hungry, and we eat something. Well, it takes a few minutes before you process that food and feel less hungry, so many times we keep on eating. More than we need to, to feel full.

Is it easy, nope. I know several people, many of them ladies, who have made a tremendous change from eating less, and walking. Don't let yourself get pysched out thinking you have to be on some serious regimen. Just do something.

I hear you and do not like it either, and am just as sensitive about being called skinny! I have many friends that are heavy and together we look just like Laurel & Hardy, and yes indeed genetics do have alot to with it. I could eat all day and never gain an ounce and I have friends that walk by food and gain weight. Either way it's not appropriate to belittle someone over their weight.

i see where you're coming from but being made fun of for being fat is worse. the world really dislikes fatties!

There r some football players well over 400 pounds, but they can play the whole game, how u may asked, because they r in really good football shape, they mite not look as they r in good shape, but when u watch n see just how fast n quick a 400 pounder can be it is amazing,so i would say just cause u mite see a guy that looks fat, that doesnt mean he is in bad condition, like u had said, some over weight pool players can play a lot longer then others,i would guess thats because they r in better condition, but anyhow good luck to u with your weight lost program, losing weight and looking fit and feeling fit should be everyones goal,if that is what they r in need of,SO DONT NEVER LET A BIG MAN FOOL YA,HE MITE JUST B N BETTER SHAPE(CONDITION)THEN IT APPEARS!

Should we assume you are talking about "morbidly obese" - in which case any physical activity is challenging?

Pool is not a physically demanding sport. A healthy back and good joints are pretty much all that's needed. But ... just because someone is overweight, it doesn't necessarily mean they are not physically capable. People can be bulky and have plenty of muscle too.

When I was a kid I was overweight. Even though I was usually one of the best athletes (I was a 4 time all-star little league 1st baseman and slugger) I had to always prove myself and just looking at fat me I would be the last guy picked for a team.

Davy Jones was the model of health- he ran every day and was a vegetarian - yet dropped dead of a heart attack. Go figure.

That's totally true. When I see one of those "World Strongest Guy" competitions and I see a lean, tan body builder, I just know he's going to get stomped by the guy with the huge gut and tree stump legs.
