Integrity of videotaped runs... Sascha

Sascha
I want to start this out by saying that I don't like having to do this, but I will do it when I am asked to do it. Initially I watched your 103 ball run, admittedly not very closely. I thought it was a good run and I believe I told you that.

Several other people watched all of your videos much closer than I did, and they noticed a few inconsistencies in ball positions - and inconsistencies of the ball positions after your breaks in the video.

I was unofficially elected to confront you about it, so I checked out these inconsistencies myself - mostly concentrating on the run that I watched. After watching closely, I am in agreement with the people that initially noticed this particular incident.

I have provided two files that depict 6 photos. This is from your 103 ball run -

sascha_moves_ball.JPG

In the 1st still photo below, you have position on the 8 - note the position of the white circle on the 8 ball -

in the second photo, you are collecting the balls from the pockets and the 8 is in the same position.

In the 3rd photo, you have racked the balls, and manipulated the position of the 8 ball. Look at the position of the white circle on the 8 ball.

If you didn't catch it in the first 3, here it is with some red arrows to highlight the position of the 8 ball.

sascha_moves_ball2.JPG

The position of the ball has clearly been changed by you moving it. If you watch the video, you are clearly seen manipulating the position of that ball. The change in the way the 8 lays on the table is evidence that the run should end at this point.

There are other incidents such as this in your other runs, I don't have time to post them now - I don't think that is necessary.

As I said, I am only the messenger. I was asked to do this. If this wasn't brought to my attention I would have never brought it up to you. This is not personal attack against you at all. You need to realize that the members of this forum have the responsibility to uphold the integrity of the game, and the validity of the videos we post. In the future, just be aware that people are watching closely - and if something doesn't look right, somebody will eventually notice it.

"What is amazing about it?

Seriously?

What would be amazing would be if something in free fall disobeyed the laws of physics."

I'm guessing there is more evidence than this, right? I would hate to ruin a guy's rep over something as small as this - maybe he bumped it and replaced it?

No doubt it not only rotated but also moved about 3/4 ball though:

Hmm, I'd like to hear Sascha side of the story first.

I've done things as innocent as accidentally touch or move the break ball, and then simply put it back into place and kept going. Not for reported runs though. Perhaps that can explain some of it?

Take a look at this one:

7:28 in. Watch the 15 ball.

I watched it with John. I marked my screen before the balls were racked and it's obvious he moved the 15 down and to the left, also, the number on the 15 ball is in a totally different position.

I guess we are going to need more than one camera angle from now on. LOL

Wow, just wow. I mean, I cheat when I play alone, but I don't go bragging about the run afterward! And on video? Damn, he already used his real name, I guess he'll have to come back as an alias.

That's a pretty low price for your credibility, man.

Thank you "Blackjack", your post is well appreciated by many of us here on
the 14.1 Forum. For many of us who have worked so hard to achieve some goals in this wonderful Sport of ours.
This is an embarrassment to all of us,
Sascha, you owe every player an apology for what you have done.
This is no accidental touch of a break ball and the stoppage & restarts of video of other runs all fall into the same category.
Criminals get second, third chances and even more. There is no reason why you can not have another chance here on the Forum as long as you apologize and delete your touched up videos.
I hope that you are Man enough you realize when you are Dead Wrong and do the Right Thing.

I know we all want to hit a number but this is not the way to do it.

WOW!

LOL.
Ok, i guess i can't really say anything cause i won't video myself due to anonymity, so realistically, any claim i have made can be disputed if someone wanted to and i would legitimately have no recourse.

But i have to say, that this is completely ridiculous.

Do people need approval that badly?
Does it really matter what other people think?

Apparently so.
For the life of me, i will never understand it.

Funny, i went in an hit some balls today after playing one other time in a month and a half.

I can proudly say i played like garbage. Didn't run squat.

No reason to lie about it.
Like what is the big deal?

Cameron,

The video link is of a run that Sascha posted, not me. In that video, he clearly reaches over with his left hand to adjust a ball that is out of sight of the camera.

When Sascha moves out of the way, the 8 ball is clearly in a different position. I watched over and over. It was NOT an accident.

Just like John and Bill, I marked my screen. The camera shifts slightly prior to him racking the balls, but that does not explain the rotation of the 8 ball.

The video is not edited or doctored, and the pictures I show here are from that video.

Like most everybody else here, there are days that I can't run more than 30 balls no matter how hard I try. On occasion, I am blessed to get into the balls, I get some respectable numbers. I do not do it with any consistency anymore and I know that. As nice as it would be to get a high number on tape, I would never intentionally move a ball into position to get it.

If anybody does that, its sad because they are only hurting themselves. Sascha plays the game well, and he doesn't need to be doing this stuff. If it was an isolated incident, I would have never mentioned it. However, it has happened in some of his other videos as well.

We're all here to learn about 14.1 - there are some great players that post some awesome information here. We are all extremely fortunate to have access to that knowledge - and to have access to the players that possess it. Everybody here is friendly and helpful, and eager to share information and experience. IMO, there is no reason at all for anyone to be intentionally deceitful - especially when it comes to posting videos.

If we let it go, or give the benefit of the doubt in situations where we all know better, then the credibility of this sub-forum goes down the drain. If we take a stand and take care of it -immediately - we send a message to next person that tries to pull the same thing.

That's the way I see it. Not everybody is going to agree with that reasoning, but the tape clearly shows that he moved the 8 ball into a better position.

I tried to stay away from this but i just cant !!!

Sascha,

You are good people and a great contributer to this forum, and i really respect that. But you are only kidding yourself !

it is one thing to have goals, But its another thing to lie to our faces saying that you crushed all of those goals.

you are a great player and you have no reason to take any shorcuts...like i said you are only kidding yourself.

i am by no reason trying to chase you away, like i said you are a very good contributor to this forum and i myself would like it to stay that way.

you had our support the whole way while you were chasing your goals, and we were all hurt to find out that you did it by taking these shortcuts.
none of us take shortcuts, we all pay our dues with blood, Sweat & Tears.

this was hurtful to me because we were both chasing the same goal and jokingly we had a bet on which one of us would be the next one to get a 100 Ball run on video. I was sad that you had beat me to the punch, but very happy that one of us had reached our goal !

Please consider this, and be honest with yourself and all of us !

Apology accepted.

I still think that you are an extremely talented player that has the potential to be a great player. The first step to overcoming this is being honest.

This game can be extremely frustrating, but it is how we work through that frustration that will define who we become as players - and as people. All of have situations where we roll a little off to the left or the right - come up short or long - I am putting together an entire dvd of screw ups that end my runs. There are a lot of lessons in those shortcomings. The shortcomings are there to challenge us to improve and become better players. Hopefully this is the first step for you to move in that direction.

As I said in an earlier post, everybody is here to learn and to help. Feel free to take advantage of that at every available opportunity. Eventually it will all pay off.

I agree "Blackjack" with all your comments.
Sascha: once again, I tell you that you are an excellent player. I think that you wanted your goal to come so bad that it over took your judgment and you became inpatient. A player that is as good as you are it is just a matter of time before those goals fall into place.
Look at "Jesse" he has been trying to run 100 for 15 yrs. and he finally achieve his goal.
People have to wait their turn but they do not give up trying. This will all pass. We all learn lessons in Life. Put this behind you. You are still welcome to post here anytime & I hope that you do.

What would be the point in reaching a goal if it was as easy as cheating. The agonizing journey to the goal is EVERYTHING! If it doesn't demoralize you and break you more than once on your course it isn't a worthy dream. You shortcut the beautiful battle to the top and are left with nothing but an empty feeling and the stress of wondering if you are going to be caught.

PS. Disregard this if it turns out to be just a bumped ball.
