Anyone know the latest? Who are on the winners side? Upsets?

Have to say...I miss Hollywood Billiards. So much easier to view the matches and chill out. Better food too. Oh well.

I left around 10:00 and there were 2 rounds to go to pare the firld down to around 48 to play tomorrow for the money.

With 192 contestants, I wonder why there are not more chiming in.

I have never seen the Hard Times with more players and sweaters before.
I was mildly surprised that they were charging $5:00 at the door to watch - at Hollywood Billiards it was free. That was cheap for what you got to sweat if you could find a seat or a good place to stand near the match up you were interested in.

There were 24 tables in play or 48 players matching up at the same time, with 144 players hanging around in the place or catching zzzzzzzzzzzs in the parking lot which spilled over to the strip mall across the street.

The contrast between here and Hollywood are the bleachers at HT which help a couple of hundred players in waiting and sweaters and the limited menu...until the evening. For din din, ther brought in shrimp coctail, beef birria, fish and chicken tostada, roast chicken and sub sandwiches which were excellent - in addition to the regular menu of burgers and dogs.

I can't see anyone beating Alex P., I watched 3 of his winning matches and he is awsome....you can't see all of the matches ups.

I didn't see any upsets except E. Colado (girl) beat our own Butch B, (man). When I left, Mellisa, Hiroko, Stacy and perhaps a couple of more of the gals were still beating the men.

Come on down for this is the Best of the West and you don't have to park a couple of blocks away like at Hollywood.

Today is the day for some great pool.

Abe Lim (i4pool) went 7-5 against The Lion and had a chance to tie it at 6-6. Great shooting by one of our own AZ'ers.

Asgar Shroff is also still on the one loss side today after beating up on King Kong and Arron Aragon.

Nick ? lost a brutal match against Parica, Hill- Hill, missing a pretty easy nine ball.

I got knocked out in the round of 64 late last night. :frown:
I did get lucky in one match, edging out Sal Butura 6-5 on the loser's side. I was there from 9:30 AM until Midnight. I liked it a lot more playing than working. I had time to visit with people and relax between matches. I should do this more often. ;)

P.S. Abe and Alex played on the table next to me. It went hill-hill on the losers side before Alex won. I don't know who beat Alex earlier, but there are more good players this year than ever.

CORRECTION: It was a winner's side match. Guess I was too busy with my match to be paying close attention.

That match between Alex and abe was on the winner side 7/5 alex. Abe had him sweating though

I'm still in it. I lost my last match last night against Amar Kang. We both played pretty bad then Amar caught his storke - it's hard to go from the main area tables to the tournament room because conditions are so different and we were going on 14 hours by then.

Today everybody is in the cash. What a huge crowd - there was almost nowhere to sit at HT and it's a huge room.

It was a pleasure meeting Johnny Shakes, Abe and others for the first time.

The Magic Rack works incredible with new balls and racks a slug every time with worn out balls.

Chris

come say hello I will be the bald guy in the booth as long as its not JAY

Thanks guys! Getting ready to go back to Hardtimes to fight through the one-loss side.
Match with Alex P. was such a great experience for me, losing 7-5. I could have brought it to hill-hill but blew a position shot leaving myself hooked on the 7-ball. I had my opportunities and feel I played loose. Great advice from a lot of friends before the match... thank you.

Hope to continue playing loose today.

Best Regards,

Hi Abe-

Outstanding job! That had to be pretty cool. Lost 7-5 to the LION, eh?

Did I mention, I need more weight-been saying this for a while.

Great job, buddy.

Have fun.

I'm proud of my AZ Poolfest Brothers! Jay beating Sal, Asgar beating King Kong, Tate still rolling and Abe going 7-5 against Alex. Love it.
I had a crazy week and had zero sleep the night before, just couldn't focus. I was my worst enemy.
Looking forward to the stream today. Keep it going guys!
