The History of TAR

You guys rule! For all of us that can't get to every event.....you all let us get a front row seat for all the action.

Hopefully this will turn into a big money maker for TAR and you all can buy one of those giant Nascar travel RV's to do your thing :)

It was nice meeting you guys at Allens Million $$$ tourney in Valley Forge. Hopefully you will make it there this year.

Good luck, G.

You may have the only post on AZB that used 'static' twice, and w/ differnt definitions.

Great read. It got my heart pumping, a testament to the great work it details!

Awesome job....on everything.

Photography, and layout are both topnotch. Graphics are SUPER!! Really, really good stuff.

Thanks for all that you guys do.

Thanks for all that you guys do. I greatly enjoy every single ppv. If you need a professional handicapper on the payroll then let me know.

Justin,

Thanks for the awesome montage and the most certainly awesome last 18 months. I have been lucky enough to meet and hang with you guys at a few events here in KC and I and the pool world cannot thank you enough for they tireless work you have done in the past 18 months. Thanks again and good luck in growing your product in the future.

Thanks
-don

Great job Justin and Chad and all those who made it happen.

Live streaming is the nuts for gambling and action. You guys are doing great and I encourage everyone here to support them.

I've organized a couple of video'd events so I have some idea of how hard you guys must have worked to get 21 events off the ground, from all around the country in just 18 months. Well done Justin and all those who helped get this concept to where it is.

I wonder a bit why it has taken off now after BCN did this for a couple of years or so and couldn't get the same level of community excitement and support. I certainly enjoyed their DCC coverage in years gone by.

Perhaps it was a combination of cost of production, better streaming these days, the challenge formats or something else. Would like to know what others think the cause is.

Whatever the case, TAR is a significant advancement for pool and I think it will develop into something that will revolutionize the dynamics between pool produced for television v the internet.

Colin

btw: I've blogged this thread here: http://www.thepoolpack.com/2009/01/02/the-action-report-changing-pools-landscape/

It's because BCN isn't a part of the community. Chad and Justin are.

Plus TAR does things that BCN doesn't - they have done that which we all have only talked about - taken pool where boxing is with the challenge match format. Now if there was a way to get pool as big as boxing...........

BCN and Accustats do a GREAT job with their events. TAR does a great job with their events. I'd like to thank them both for being pioneers in their own way. And we ALL KNOW that for both of them this is way more a labor of love than a profitable business. I hope that it's a little profitable now and becomes very profitable.

I hope they can turn a big profit too. That means more events, better production, value to sponsors, value to the obvious many who'd be watching and best of all, it would force ongoing competition with subsequent better quality and lower cost to the consumers.

Not that I'm claiming that costs are too high, but with economies of scale, costs come down and that attracts even more viewers to share the costs.

Great recap and a great past 18 months. DCC in person is great, but DCC via TAR is a close second, there is no close third. Excellent work!

Another self serving TAR advertisement in the main forum.......JEEZ.:D

Seriously, I really appreciate the work you guys put into bringing these streams to those of us that can't make it out to every event. I have had the pleasure of meeting many new people through TAR, it really has become its own little community.

Keep up the great work guys, I'll be seeing you in a few weeks.

Great job Justin and Chad, et al! That was a nice, concise history lesson. IMO, TAR has succeeded where BCN could not, for two reasons...1) they took pool to the masses, rather than relying on pool room owners to pay high fees to stream matches; and 2) brought challenge matches back, where they could be seen (and recorded). 100-130 yrs. ago challenge matches were the main way big matches went down, and were covered by the mainstream media, around the world. Keep up the good work guys!

I've logged in probably to less than six events but I enjoyed every one of them. I will try to get more this year. Keep the one pocket matches coming!

Mind Blowing! Here's to another great year for TAR!

You sure are handsome. :p

That picture of you I saw earlier with your team mates wearing the TAR shirts is very nice! Good luck to you in school! :)

JC,

Chad and yourself have provided a product that we Pool junkies really need. The quality is excellent and will only get better, I'm sure.

You guys are changing the way fans view Pool. It's been a tough road to success and the path is rocky, but...if it was easy, everyone would do it and there would be no payoff. I hope you guys keep on, keepin on.

If I had one wish for TAR in '09, I wish everyone that reads this would commit to viewing at least 2 TAR pay per view events. We are talking about a less than $100 commitment and you will get your monies worth. We have to support those that support us. Who doesn't want to watch live Pool??
