Toupee Jay's pool room

In the last photo, there is one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb Jay...so much so I would almost red rep you. Seriously...the power cord for the TV has got to go. ;)

Beautiful room sir (except that which I already mentioned)

Great looking setup.

The cord must be for his Jedi mind trick (lol). Seriously though I know there's dust.

Please bear with me. I'm trying to learn how to post photos on my own. I'm a computer dork. Hmm, way too small. Let me try again.

That's the original Pool Sharks pinball machine from the early 90's. I can't play a lick but my grandkids love it. And Fatboy wants to steal it from me.

Jay-

Mighty fine room!

Your grandkids have been very well raised. The carpet is immaculate. Congratulations on both.

Thanks for sharing.

That's my Keith Josey cue leaning up against the wall by the Delta rack. The phone on the little table is an old fashioned cord phone. I'll tell you why. If your power ever goes out, that phone will still work. The cordless phones will not! Everyone should keep one cord phone in their house.

I was trying to put a close up photo of the women from the 1999 Classic Tour up for you to see. I had them all autograph it. Ming is the gal in front dressed in white. Also the cool poster is an old one from Barry Bettencourt's poolroom in Modesto. It's called "Beware Of The Pool Hustler" and it features caricatures of the top California players of that era, like Kim, Keith and Swanee, saying some funny stuff. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow. You'll get a kick out of it for sure.

The sign below it says "There will be a $5.00 charge for whining." I've collected over fifty bucks already! :)
Oh, and that's a 'No Gambling' sign below my photo. It came out of my last poolroom. In California it is still state law for poolrooms to display that sign in at least two places. Of course we gambled in there every day!

Thank you and thanks to everybody. You are all welcome to come visit if you're in the L.A. area and I mean that sincerely. I like having someone to play with. I rarely practice on my own. True story!

Down that hall is three bedrooms and two full baths, plus I have a comfy couch in that den adjacent to the poolroom (Tang's favorite resting place). Quite a few pool players have stayed here over the last six years. It ain't a palace but the price is right! :)

Nice machine!

Nice room and very nice pinball machine! I used to work at Williams/Bally/Midway in the early nineties in the sales and video production dept and was very well aquainted with many of the folks who designed and built that game. (I used to play golf regularly with the guy who did the music on your machine. lol) In fact, it was also built only a few blocks from where I live right now. lol

There was a lot of back and forth discussion back then about the state of the the game of pinball, how to grow the pinball machine market, and anyone here would be amazed at how many similarities there were with those conversations then about pinball, and the conversations here on AZ about pool now. (We need another movie! lol)

A lot of very smart and talented people over there. Steve Kordeck, the guy who essentially invented pinball by coming up with the idea of putting the flippers at the bottom of the game was still alive and working there when your machine was made and had a direct hand in advising the designers of your machine.

They're very difficult to maintain and that's why they never were sold to the home market. So many specially invented and very difficult to replace parts.

It's a real work of art! Very cool! :D

Come on over...

Soooooo this is where you get ppl to toss a few dollars after convincing them that you don't play pool anymore

Very nice setup, Jay! You should be proud.

Before you invite any more players in, you need to perfect Mr. Findley's line to George C. Scott in The Hustler: " Well, hello there! I haven't seen you in a lonnnng time...."

Red Lite

It really is a beautiful room. I lived on that table for a month one weekend. The pinball machine is super sweet. He has a TON of pool memorabilia throughout his house. Like a pool hall of fame.

That's a very comfortable-looking pool room, Jay. Well done! :)

Is this what they call a "man cave"?

Who took the picture above the No Gambling sign with you wearing a red shirt? Do you have a better close-up of that one? :)

Yep, that's a man cave right there. Sweet! What more could a man ask for? Nevermind.....
:p

Jay...as for photo size, 800x600 works as well as 600x480. Either would be fine to use.

NICE room!!
