poorly made cue that plays well ?

I have 3 Audrick cues. Ivory inlays. All straight, all play nice. Have heard of warping and inlays popping or cracking. I may have just got lucky?

Cheaper cues with lesser materials and construction methods are less consistent, less reliable, but some can play really well.

The fancier they are, the less reliable they are. That's why a cheap old sneaky with a good shaft is so often so good.

That's how I see it anyway.

Break Stats -- 2025 Ultimate Pool USA Kansas City Shootout (8-Ball), July 2025

I know some people knock these tournaments because it is played on bar tables, but I find them very entertaining- it is interesting to see how they approach runouts and the shot clock keeps the matches moving along quickly
Yeah, and look at the B&R percentage after a successful break by excellent players and tell me again why 500 FargoRate players need to be playing 10 ball on 3.75” pockets on a 10’ table.😉

RIP Joe Salazar

I had read about him over the years as both a great player and cue salesman. He was by himself at his booth at the Derby this year (no customers or browsers) and looked kinda' lonely so I took the opportunity to introduce myself and tell him that I had read a lot about him and knew he was a great player and businessman. He was genuinely moved by this compliment from a nobody-off-the-street and looked a little teary for a second. We had a nice chat and he showed me a lot of great cues.
I never met him until this year in Las Vegas. Talked about a cue deal but nothing came of it and I bought a video. I had heard a little about him but had never met him. We didn’t discuss anything personal but he was a straightforward guy talking about deals. Like I said, I don’t know him but was saddened when I saw he passed, and like others mentioned I had that thought, “But I just saw him…”. Rest in Peace.
