I'd assume Mary is checking with her backers while mulling over how to respond.

omgwtf says she willing to have backing and I imagine with her standing and track record here, she'll get it.

But what about Mary? Chi2dxa said he's got some $ confidence in her. Anyone else have ideas or $ to get Mary in a better position to jaunt to the DCC and tangle?

Maybe if there's a show of support here, she'll be more likely to commit.

or she may be waiting for her ghost writer to come write her response for her

Hey OMGWTF, since Mary said she likes 1-pocket, how about playing a set in each of the DCC formats (9-ball, 9-ball banks, & 1-pocket)?

I am willing to be backed for this match by AZB members. This will take my game down a ball or two since I play best on my own money, but if you're willing to risk it, let me know.

Nice of you to sacrifice and play with backers instead of your own cash.

To Mary.

How about we set up a shot clock for Mary Avina to put up or back down. Something like 30 days give or take.
I'm in no one's corer and have no vested interest. Not having read the whole thread, I tried for a while, my question is how many players does she have to take on and how much $ is at steak here. More then she can afford to lose would be a tough challenge for anyone. I've read those words here several times.
When young speaking for myself I thought I was the center of the universe. That stopped when I put my feet on those yellow foot prints.
If she does take the challenge and I hope she does, win or lose at least she will win some respect here IMO. Even if she admits she over stated her ability I would respect her a little more. Still I'd rather she show up and choke then not show up at all. I hate to say it but it's time to put up or shut up.
The clock is ticking and no one can stop the clock from ticking. Mary; the ball is in your court!

After almost 250 posts, I believe Mary has backed away from previous statements.I say put this thread to bed where it belongs.:boring2:

What none of you understand is:

"No, No you don’t meet Mary, you experience The Mary!"

You people just don't get it. Kevin Cooper does.

"The most unique, intelligent young woman of her generation I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She has an unusual sense of humor and an understanding of history, art and culture that is refreshing and rare among people her age. When you talk with her, she conveys a charm and strength that is hard to find or define. Mary is a beautiful person, both inside and out."

Kevin Cooper

Go poke your silly balls around, with your dumb overpriced twigs! There is much more to life than that! She is a Renaissance Woman! She is a Red Angel!

"Red Angel. She is a driven, playful, smart, sexy woman. She is an Artist a painter, sculptor, photographer and sometimes movie maker. Besides a remarkable pool player. Also a very practical mixed martial artist and more. In another words a Renaissance Woman. The kind of girl that one can actually carry a conversation with."

Damn you all!

I am gonna go home play pool, and get drunk.

Several things have been bothering me.

First- I finally figured out Mary's only 24 years old from the link to her MySpace page. So she's young and limited in wisdom or experience. And she really does seem awfully immature in every piece of evidence- from her posts to her sites. Who hasn't been young, dumb, and full of...? Sheesh- she's only been old enough to go into bars for 3 years, now. I do believe a LOT of young people are cocky and think they can fool the world...

Second- The comments that irritated me most, since I've never met or seen her- "uncool, not serious, messy," etc.- were things reported to have been said in IM. She didn't actually post them publicly- she sent them privately to someone who reported those things afterwards. That means the thing that bothered me most is actually hearsay. I even feel sorry for the girl trying to preserve her persona and being outed when she thought she was speaking privately to a supporter/ friend.

Again, I've never met or seen her, so I can't speak to all of that local grudge stuff...

So I don't think she's as great a poolplayer or as beautiful a creature as she hoped for us to believe. I'm not even sure that her 2-posting boyfriend was a real person. I didn't care about any of her trickshots or boasting, and had frankly stopped reading her posts- I'd recognize the font and skip it- until the very last couple of days. Like blocking out the noise of someone else's kid yabbering in the office on "bring your child to work" day.

Maybe I'm giving her too much benefit. But in the school of hard knocks, I think she's had a knock. I'd be surprised by how much she posts here after this, anyway.

I think the only ways she can fully redeem herself now are to: 1. apologize, admit she was boasting without background and that she is ready to behave, or 2. play Omgwtf at the dcc, and, win or lose, do her best and learn something from it.

I think Option 2, win or lose, would give her the most respect- even if she gets the most public knockdown skunk ever, we'd still see the heart involved in her trying. And the promotion could work for her some day. But Option 1 is acceptable too, right?

I was just starting to remember a particular scene in the movie Malena, there at the end...

YES! Option 1 would be acceptable! For me anyway... :)

Is Edward Cullen going to be at the DCC? (Sorry, he's just more exciting to me than "humble" Mary)

Like, OMG, if he is, I am so there!

I think some people have been harsh on Mary, but at the same time, I can see how she made herself a target for criticism. I don't know either of these two, but if Mary wants to shut her critics up, she should get up and play. Mary, the ball's in your court.
Talk is cheap
