Best Pro Stroke?

The best stroke I've ever seen belonged to Steve Mizerak. He had the best combination of power and finesse I've ever seen. Honorable mention to Jose Parica and Jack Colavita.

Today, it's very hard to say, but Souquet's stroke seems to me the most repeatable, and here on the forum, I've learned to appreciate that above all else.

No Matter we re talkin about Archer, Varner, Hohmann, Souquet etc etc- this list would be amazing long- Watchin Hohmann for example is almost perfect imo- But to say about a world champ (almost everyone named here was already a champ :cool:) he would have no straight stroke....sorry but then i would have to laugh a bit :wink:
All of em have very good fundamentals.

We are on the same boat with Toastie.. :) Plus I like Jasmin Oschan fundamentals + plus about 50 guys from Taiwan... :thumbup:
 
Regardless of what we might think of him personally, I always thought Howard Vickery had the purest, smoothest, straightest stroke I've ever seen...absolutely no movement side to side or up and down--perfect. Hard to find video of it, but I'm sure someone here has him on Accustat...the match I'm thinking of was around '91 or '92, he lost to Efren in the semis. IIRC, George Breedlove lost to Earl in the other semi, and Earl took Efren in the finals...?

100% aggree with with you Marek,

When i m training with students on mechanicals like stance, balance, bridge-length and pre-shot-routines, there are usualy always the same 4-5 players i let them watch:
Souquet, Jasmin Ouschan, Th. Hohmann, K. Becker, M. Ederer-
ShaSha is also wonderful to watch.


Most of the players i named have great mechanics-- and each has at least 1 thing which is not *out of the learning-book*-- interesting to discuss about these things with the students :)

With *grandious* thoughts of having such a beautiful stroke as Rempe, Miz, Kim, Harriman/Kucharo (they looked nearly identical), Buddy, MOSCONI...if a genie said I could have any one of them, but I only had 1 second to choose, it would be SIGEL.

Mike had deadly straight alignment & motion. It's a great testament that he can still play top-flight pool long after he retired.

From the video I have seen I would say Mosconi had the most efficient and solid stroke I have ever seen. No pro today makes it loom like it is impossible for them to miss like Mosconi did.

For pure strokes today Mika has a really straight stroke that is fairly solid and repeatable under stress. Efren is really straight through the ball as well.

Allison strokes straight but her stroke gas very little power. When she actually needs to do something with he cueball her stroke simply dies not have what it takes and tends to fall apart. She pots well, but that is only part of the equation for a truly great stroke.
 
the best I have EVER seen was Cole Dickson's stroke. I remember watching him take this fish's money and remarking to myself that the balls were never touching a rail.
 
Wow this turned into a neat thread with all the different opinions from how we see things. I guess when I started this thread i could have put in a lot of the other players mentioned, and this was no dissrepect to any of them. This was interesting and thx for your reply's.
