Deleting threads

Jealous. No, long way in the other direction on that one.

In fact, I am glad that I am not like you. I have no idea on what exactly that you believe that you contribute to the boards.

I know that it doesn't take much to get you going and purposely try to be mean to people. Thats a fer sure.

If I were so inclined to waste my time, I would probably dig up your last Rip Off Thread, if it hasn't been deleted, so you could re read all your nasty ass posts to members.

Man, as that Thread grew, so did the stories. I was actually amazed that a person, such as yourself, that is supposed to be such a great business person, could treat your customers in the shoddy manner in which you have done repeatedly and still be have enuff business.

What do I try and contribute. I repair cues in my small little city. My Father was a fantastic carpenter and I was Blessed to be able to watch him and learn a little.
I love working with my hands.

I was also Blessed to be able to afford several cue lathes and everything else needed.

I am not a whiz repairman and will never try to make the members here believe that I am. But, when someone in the Main has a cue repair question, I will either refer them to the Ask the Cue Maker Forum or try and help them to the best of my current ability.

And I can do this without being a puffed up blow hard bully that goes out of their way to make people feel bad about asking a question.

How about yourself. Can you say the same?

how many do you think are waiting on YOU to show up?

Probably none. Because I own a home and don't live out of a smelly van like you do. But, you can be sure of one thing. When I make a promise to repair a persons cue for them, it is done on time, and I will actually deliver it to the bar that they are playing League in that night.

Just this past Saturday, I was at a League Tourney. An couple of players needed their cues worked on. Ferrule snapped off on a break cue for one. I took them home, worked on them and took them back to the bar at 1:30 am so they would have them in the morning.

And in minus 35 below weather. I would say that my service record in my city is pretty spotless.

Can you say the same?

Yeah, we all know that you have 100's waiting on you. And they will wait, and wait, and wait. And to further this, your reputation, if you can call it that, precedes you all the way to Canada.

You must have a really short memory or at least hope that the members of AZB do.

Can you explain why my thread about moving to TX has more views than this thread does? Could it be because it interests people to know where I'm going to move to and set up shop? You're another poster AZB could do without.

And here's another that AZB could do without.

And yet, another poster AZB could do better without.

So it's off with their heads to anyone that has the temerity to disagree with you? Interesting concept. Let me resign immediately.

His moving to Texas thread has more views. No doubt.

Members are thinking. Thanks For The Warning Glen.

You are the same "Mark Griffin" that sent me this message aren't you?

Sorry, Mark, you have to feel that way, all this time I thought we were friends. After you sent me this message we haven't had a chance to meet -. now I'm disappointed, why tell me how much you like me then publicly insult me? That's not nice at all.....wouldn't it be more professional to pick up the phone and give me a call to tell me your grievances?

I will take the high road with this behavior, and just write it off to you having a bad day, or something? You certainly have a right to you own opinion, or opinions in this case.

You are the same "Mark Griffin" that sent me this message aren't you?

I appreciate you saying that Mark, and yes I know you and we've said "hi" in passing several times in Vegas. It didn't seem appropriate to discuss any business with yourself, with me being more in the R&D mode during those times.

I have been in meetings lately where your name has come up (in a positive way) and the business people I'm working with would certainly encourage me to take you up on an opportunity to talk. I agree with all your points in your message about growing and developing the growth of pool and we do have that in common.

I am in the middle of doing several video shoots this weekend and just getting on AZ and facebook when I have a few minutes .... Let me complete this obligation and give you a call Monday evening if that works for yourself....Please advise me if that's a good day, and if so, what window of time is best for you.

Best Regards,

CJ - Monday PM is fine. I am in Vegas - so 2 hours '
earlier' than Texas. Almost anytime is good - if not, I can always call you back.

Thanks,

Markg

Then we spoke on the phone for nearly an hour, and I thought we left on good terms.

It's creepy to think that I was talking to someone else, but "the guy" was so nice and complimentary about me, how could I possible know you, Mark, was suppressing such anger and resentment against me.

I believe when we meet in person you'll find that I'm not a "5th Grader". ;) ......although sometimes it's wishful thinking.

5th Grade Pool Players Worldwide

In my opinion, CJ is doing a lot more damage to this forum than good.

I can ignore his DVD sales pitches.
I think his smart answers are way counter productive.
A little humor goes a long ways - he keeps clogging up the threads with crazy crap.

This forum is supposed to encourage intelligent discussions. Hard to do with posters that just won't stay on point.

I've always felt everyone has the right to express their opinions and feelings - but to intentionally derail serious thread are the acts of a juvenile mind.

I for one, am highly disappointed in CJ. He could be an asset to the community- instead he acts like a 5th grader. I can't tell you why - but he is beginning to remind me of Fast Larry.

Yes CJ, I did write that letter.
That 2 years ago - things have changed.

When u came on the AZ scene I held out hopes you could/would become a mentor to the players, a sound of reason for promotion, and share reasonable visions for improving the game.

You have the knowledge, you have the history, and I think you have the ability.

But you - for what ever reason decided to do something different. More power to you- but you shouldn't be suprised that some of the 'do'ers' get tired of listening to the same stuff all the time.

Bottom line is everyone must accept responsibility for what they post. The good and the bad.

No it is why people watch NASCAR -- they are waiting to see a crash. Or in your case, for you to berate another poster for having a difference of opinion or what you feel is less knowledge than yourself.

Don't put yourself up on a pedestal just yet.

Oh and half the 'views' are probably you clicking on your thread just to re read your own words, brimming in delight.

I don't put myself up on a pedestal, people like you do;) opinionated comments without knowing the true facts make way for the ignorant to climb on board and show just how little they really do know;)

I don't keep a tracking of how many car crash views I get ---- you do.

There is just so much you can talk about the angles of a pocket or glueing rubber. I get it. Moving to Waco was a good diversion.

why I chose the fourth grade classroom

It's ok that people disagree. It's ok that we don't all get along. I understand someone "owns" azbilliards and there must be some sort of law, but I'm all for free speech and I'm not sure why things are regulated like a forth grade classroom. If those are the rules I try to follow them even though I disagree with them.

I put a lot of thought into that post and I think it opened up some eyes. I got a lot of messages and rep over it, even from my haters. In order to fix a problem you must first find out what the actual problem is.

Cleary,

With black and white everyone knows where they stand. You can say this, you can't say that. When you get into shades of gray nobody knows where they stand. One thing I was proud of, on my political forum we could discuss politics, religion, race, any hot button topic. Everyone knew that they were locked into strictly civil debate. It was very confining in some respects, very liberating in others.

Had I allowed shades of gray moderating that forum would have been impossible. It makes a moderator's job many times harder on any forum. AZB has the problem now that one person can get banned forever for saying what another said without even a slap on the wrist. The same poster can say something one time with no punishment and get a ban another time. That is the way it is when everything is a judgment call.

One thing I think AZB will need with expanded moderation is a solid set of rules and guidelines for mod's to work under. The general forum doesn't have to know these rules but the moderators do to be able to act consistently with each other and the administrators.

Good post Mark!

I slowed my roll here long ago for fear of posting something I would rather not. It felt good to see a reputable person communicate observations similar to what I had experienced. I knew there were plenty of angry AZB journeymen that agreed with me. But that doesn't really validate an opinion now does it? ;)

Best wishes!

Watchez is the teacher........ Unless we're disagreeing :D

Yes

It would also be nice if newcomers like myself felt free to post what they think.

I expect some bile-thrower will eventually form a hate-ship toward me, for reason or reasons unknown.

I again hit the "Submit Reply" button with trepidation.

Oh well, I can always unsubscribe, and go back to playing Solitaire.

I used to post my opinions on issues that would arise but stopped when I realized that no matter what, you can't win on this forum. There are a handful of regular posters that will dissect every word and spin it to be something that it's not. I routinely tell Mark that when it comes to opinion on these forums, there is a lot to lose and almost nothing to gain. He disagrees and continues but I have stopped. Perhaps one day those inside the industry will feel comfortable enough sharing their thoughts and opinions on this forum. However, as long as the "keyboard attacks" continue, it will not happen.

Which is why I prefer facebook. There are far less rules and almost everyone is using their real names.

Hi Ken,

I was thinking about you just the other day.

Nice Website.

Best Wishes,

It's understandable. You wouldn't want to get into political debates, for example, because all you're going to do is piss off half the people and not get any real benefit from it.

But your post made me think about this. I’ve been using internet forums of various kinds since about a decade before the web was in popular use (since about 1985), and here's what I've learned about internet forum arguments:

1. There are definitely trolls and people who get off on attacking people. But I think this is a very small minority of problems. And of course it’s easy to deal with a true troll - ignore them and don’t respond.

2. There are some people who think that anyone who simply has a different opinion is a troll. I think this is the far more common situation. People have different opinions, and can even disagree about facts(!), and that drives some people crazy. Maybe they’re just not used to being openly challenged or disagreed with in the real world, or maybe the missing body language and facial expressions make it seem harsher, I don’t know.

By the way, I think Mark’s posts here are interesting and it doesn't seem to me that he gets involved in stupid arguments, and some others in the industry like the OB people do an excellent job here too. You can just tell it drives Mark crazy that he can’t correct everyone’s faulty opinions. :D

heard it was heavily moderated

I have never been on facebook. However I read over and over that every user is a moderator and controls everyone that comes on their page. How much more heavily moderated than that can you get? The people that want a heavily moderated AZB all seem to like facebook.

About names, I have used "Hu" over forty years and "ShootingArts" over twenty, that makes them pretty real if anyone is looking for me. I could use my legal name at major get-togethers and get totally ignored with my name on my shirt!

Nah, on facebook you can basically write whatever you want. Nobody is reading threads weeding out curse words or telling people they can't do this or that. Sure, If I started a post I could delete your posts if I wanted or even block you from seeing anything I write.. or unfriend you. Things like that rarely happen.
