Drake Bell - Files banruptcy

But it was pool related when Mom came on here and asked all AZB members to vote for Drake in a talent show and to follow him on facebook and others things. Come on Fran...give us a break. We know she's a friend. Johnnyt

It's that fascination, that people who post stuff like this, have with the misfortune of others.

I call it gloating. You can call it whatever you want.

Either way, it doesn't belong here.

well, you're wrong. You can call a rat a dog, don't make it so. Just because this kid is related to Robin, he is off limits ? The only diff is if he was not related to Robin, it would have been in NPR... and things would not have been quite as nice :)

Heck, I use to watch "drake and josh" with my son :)

She seemed to have been pretty proud of him. Now we find he is just another idiot who pissed away all his money. The chances the kind of opportunities he had will come around again are very remote. Child actors historically don't fair very well when they get a little older and not usually so cute.

For him, unless he has some education or something to fall back on his future will be a very hard up hill climb. It is hard to take a job and make regular everyday money when you have one time in your life made the kind of money he has. That feeling of entitlement still lingers.

I agree 100%. Johnnyt

No, this is not pool news just because Robin is his mom.

It's really a shame for the people who post here to berate someone for filing bankruptcy without knowing the circumstances, and what that person may have had to face.

I know of several people who have had to resort to filing due to circumstances beyond their control. Things happen.

Why don't you all stop gloating over someone's misfortune and move on to something that actually relates to pool?

Well stated, my sentiments exactly...

Sad, I warned Robin about having proper money management for Drake many years ago, beginning with trusted advisers. He was making big money (seven figures) then! Drake didn't even read the monthly statements he was getting. I offered to help him (and her) way back when. If I had, I promise you he wouldn't be broke now. I strongly suspect he also got hurt by his "managers."

Sounds like a bad agent. I am in the wealth management business and these agents always use "their guy" and too many times the star goes broke on some deal. Nobody wants to make money the old fashioned way with good professional money management.

Personally, I found this thread offensive from the start, but the Monday morning quarterbacking makes it even worse.

Considering this sad story in abstract, the lesson is worth learning --- put money away in the good times so you can weather the financial storms in life that 99% of us have to weather. The good times don't last forever for more than a few.

Scrutinizing this young man and publicly judging his behavior, however, is, I would suggest, unfair and insensitive.

I use to visit with Robin at her booth every year at BCA, Vegas....The last time she had a booth at the Riveria, Drake was helping her sell her J/B cues...Really nice kid..Robin did a great job in raising him..He is not a "idiot" as someone said...A really great family all of them...Very polite and well mannered....Not stuck up...
I mean he was just a kid...Any of us probably would of made the same mistake with money at that age...
I watch a show on T.V. every week about people who have hit the lottery for millions.....Adult people...They blow the money also...
Of course no one on here is that dumb...Right?

You-all are making much ado about nothing. Sheesh! Lots of celebrities file bankruptcy and end up bouncing right back, higher and better than ever, because they learn from their mistakes.

In 1990, Willie Nelson filed for bankruptcy, owing the Feds about $16 million. By1993, his debts were paid off. Willie later sued Price Waterhouse for mishandling his finances. Today, Willie Nelson is back, better than ever, enjoying life.

In the '80s, boxing champion George Foreman was on the verge of bankruptcy. In Foreman's case, fear of financial ruin proved to be a good thing because it drove him to re-enter the boxing ring at age 45 and regain his heavyweight title against Michael Moorer in 1994. This second chance at success enabled him to pay off millions of dollars of debt and launch a new career as an entrepreneur hawking George Foreman Grills. Millions have been sold, and he's a fat cat today. :D

Thomas Jefferson was one of the greatest and smartest of all Presidents of the United States. Unfortunately, he wasn't smart about money for his heirs. After his death, his estate Monticello and all his possessions, including 120 slaves, were auctioned off to help pay off $107,000 in debts (a fortune in 1826).

And Mr. Money Man himself, Donald Trump has filed two bankruptcies. That's right, two of them. You heard it right. The first bankruptcy of his hotel/casino empire occurred in the early '90s to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars. His second occurred in 2004, this time to the tune of $1.8 billion. In 2005, Trump stepped down as CEO of Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc, and "The Apprentice" is coming back for another season. His lifestyle doesn't look too shabby, either. ;)

Drake will be fine. He's a celebrity already and will find his corner in the market and be back on top again before you know it, only this time, like Nelson, Foreman, and Trump, he'll be able to draw on his wisdom of lessons learned. I'd buy stock in him. He's got something that others in the industry strive for, and that's talent and charisma.

I hope he rebounds .
One of the Hanson Brothers went bk recently too.
But, child stars going broke are double tough .
A lot of them do not get gigs when they become adults .

My only question here would be, why post someone's personal business on a site about pool? Robin is a personal friend of mine and if you have any respect for her at all, you will remove this thread. This is their family business, no one elses...

IMHO, if people (including familiy members) are going to point out all the GOOD stuff in the media for people to follow someone in their quest for stardom, then they better BE PREPARED for the negative stuff that may come afterward.

That is the "PRICE OF FAME"!

If you DON'T want to be noticed, then DON'T try to become FAMOUS!

You CAN'T have it BOTH ways.

Drake was Big News Back Home when Robin was posting about him in the Main Forum.

Many of us wondered and even commented to Robin re how it was Pool related.

She was obviously proud of her son and rightly so.

I'm not gloating over the news. I am sure that Robin is hurt over this.

It is Hollywood news just like Beaver is every week.

So, can't do much about it now. We didn't cause this financial mess for him.

A little song for Drake.

Most people don't try, it just happens to them. Some also gravitate towards entertainment because they enjoy performing and doing things that make people happy. I haven't heard anything bad about the young man, so I'm not passing any judgement here. Things happen in life and hopefully he can get this over and move forward.

In most cases, how you manage money is more important than how much you make -provided you are above poverty level of course. If you don't believe this, you probably have a problem.

Donald never filed for bankruptcy. A corporation or two he lead has, but the corporation is its own entity. When a corp files for banktuptcy, you refer to that as the corp filing... not the CEO.

Therefore, "Donald Trump" has never filed for bankruptcy.

So...you didn't hear it right.

Corps file to restructure debt all the time.
