Lost another player

This is so sad. He was truly one of the nicest guys that I had the privilege to meet during my All About Pool days. He was always easy to talk to and was willing to give me some info I could write about if I was stuck. I was there and had a booth when he won the Camel 10 Ball event back in 1998. I was one of the familiar faces so after a match he would stop by and talk. I remember how excited he was when he made it to the semi's. Ginky was always a cool customer and not unfamiliar with winning. But he was ecstatic and just like you and me when he made it that far. I shut down the booth to watch him win the finals. He played in my room many, many times. This is a shock and very sad indeed.

Incredibly saddening news, regardless of the circumstances.

He was a much loved and admired man, may his family know.

Just damn sad to hear.....RIP George.

Sometimes life just isn't fair and there is no lemonade to be made. I hope his family can find some peace with this.

Very sad day for his friends and family and all of the pool. RIP George. Johnnyt

Truly sad. I remember reading posts here a few years back about Ginky and has wife struggling to have children. Those posts were heartbreaking as well.

My condolences and prayers go out to the San Souci family.

Interview with Ginky

If anyone wants to see a powerful interview - I think Murnack did one with him. It was powerful. Murnak interviews him and asks why his game has slipped - without missing a beat Ginky replied drugs and booze. Murnak then asks if he would like that edited out - again without missing a beat Ginky says no - I want that in the interview. It was a powerful exchange.

Sad news - a class act he was.

We'll make sure that they remember you right, Ginky!

Very sad news. He left the pool world way too early.
R.I.P. Ginky
Will miss you my friend !

It is with a heavy heart that we note the passing of George "Ginky" San Souci, a Professional Player from New York. San Souci was a friend for many years and a great all around player. The entire Ohio Pool School family sends its best to San Souci's family. He will be missed and never forgotten!

Still in shock...

I read all the posts and was hoping this was a vicious joke or a mistake...

RIP George...Condolences to your family and close friends in this incredibly sad time. I only met and played with George a couple times at Masters but he was as good a player and as likable a person as people have said in the previous five pages. The billiards world and NYC miss you already.

I Am in complete shock to hear this news this morning. Ginky was a good friend, he had an enourmessly big heart and more talent than most.

The landscape of the NY pool scene will definatly be empty now, but he will never leave our hearts.

R.I.P. Ginkster !

Your Friend

R.I.P. Ginky.

Thanks for all you did to promote our great sport.

My sympathy to Ginky's friends and family.

about this time he is normally on his way to the Super Billiard expo!
RIP Ginky you will be missed

As previously said, Ginky had no problem admitting his struggles. It doesn't make him evil, just human, like the rest of us.

did not know him personally but. this is still sad just the same he was a few monthes older than me, way to young to go. my thought go out to his friends and family. SK
