Lol well in a round about way.
Johnny Archer said when he beat Shane during US open 10 , mark told him it should help his confidence some since archer was such a "big underdog".
johnny told players he was really hot after that remark and triple motivated to win. And he forgot his badge and they wanted charge him at the door during pro 10event!

That on top of all Mark's remarks on Abp etc.
congrats Johnny !

A little over 200 posts and you are a know-it-all? Sounds to me like someone just wants to make waves. I like Johnny, Mark, and Shane for the record.

Charlie,

Why not just be a man and admit it. . . . .

BTW - I don't remember saying that JA was such a "big underdog".

But either way, what I say really won't have much affect on the outcome when two great players are involved in head to head play.

I doubt JA was 'really hot' - because he did not say anything to any of us. Just GrapeVine (errr ah CW) blowing more hot air.

I think you need to get your facts straight - AGAIN!!!!

Mark Griffin

(Ya know, it gives a person a lot of freedom posting with their real name. It means they stand for something. Those that use aliases just don't get it - and many times only use a fake name to hide behind).

OK wait, just so Im wrapping my head around this.........
Someone with access to Charlie Williams computer started an AZ thread accusing Mark Grifin of having made Shane Van Boening lose his match because he told Johnny Archer he was and underdog and that made Johnny Archer shoot better? I have to be missing something.
Is this really happening?

Professional sports management at its best......

Poolgrapevine, I think its time to tell us who you are. Its not right for a person to hide behind their computer and publicly call out Mark. Be a man and talk to him face to face.

Maybe this is the CW that plays for South Korea?

The one that plays for the USA will be on tilt when he finds out.

Is this real life?

What a pant load. I just want to know if Mark got a cut seeing he was the "supreme motivation" for the win. Gotta get the jelly you know. Again....what a pant load. This has got to rate as one of the dumbest threads I've seen in a while......but then again, I did repond.

Wonder what these posts say about the identity of PoolGrapevine?

I could go on & on, but it's pretty clear that someone is using this alias to hide behind & drop nuggets into the discussions that go on here at AZB.

Ive talked to nearly all the top pro names in the world. I have yet to find one that thinks the WPA does a good job and 99% wish they didnt exist.
Even other promoters from China, taiwan and europe think the leadership in WPA is severly lacking. Besides. It's only run by one man Ian Anderson. There is no real staff or board.

I think what Dragon P has done is shown that an event doesnt need WPA sanctioning to be successful. And that must frighten the WPA and its supporters.

Failed boycott? i was under impression it was quite successful.
50+ top name pros said they werent going unless Barry put the money up in advance. Barry put it up $ with BCA.
Players came. Thus first US Open in almost 10 years where no player got stiffed or had to wait 1 yr to get paid.

Barry even told people he was glad the players forced him to do the right thing and this year he is going to put more $ up in advance.

From what I hear, the WPA has 1-2 people that actually work in it. One of the two being Ian Anderson the president. He doesnt even have a secretary or assistant. Its really skeleton crew, if that. They survive off the money they get from sanctioning and thats why Matchroom gets to have "World Championship" status in all their events. That 5% helps those 1-2 guys survive.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=3250885&postcount=32
it seems people always keep saying Dragon P. calls it this and that "world championship". from what ive seen in their stories the exact name of the event that they promote is "World Tournament of 14.1". everyone else seems to associate WC status to it.
But i guess they do such a successful job marketing and promoting it that it seems natural to look at it as a WC event. Thus all these threads and posts by fans/non-fans.

from the stream it looked like it. it definitely messed Archer up.some players told me shot clock actually is in favor of Williams because he likes to play fast naturally. we will see....

Guessing u r alluding to a certain asian persuasian ...LOL
you seem to have it out for him in alot of your posts. I asked him once why MG has it out for you so badly on the forums, he just laughed (evily?) jk.
well, maybe he is the brain behind it all. He does seem to carry more influence on pro players worldwide than any other promoter. if so, I guess i can see where MG and alot of promoters might be scared. could be their event next on the chopping block.
Cuz I heard the pro players were irate in Vegas at Grifins event. Guess it didnt help Archer drew Appleton 1st round and got beat 8-0 . yeesh

Association of Billiard Professionals (ABP) Announces Members & Goals

The ABP represents the world’s best billiard players that are uniting together for a common goal. Over the years, players have endured many hardships and has found it necessary to try to reach common ground between the promoters of events, international associations, and the professional players.

Without a voice, players have not been able to adequately communicate and work with promoters and other industry entities. Promoters and associations likewise have been lacking in instruction and guidance from the pro players.

Some events and associations have not been able to sometimes protect the players from issues ranging from prize money payments, equipment issues and conditions, and rules/format. As the saying goes, “there is strength in numbers”, and this has led to the formation of the ABP.

The ABP led by some notable names such as Johnny Archer, Mika Immonen, Rodney Morris and many others in a committee of top players unified under a common purpose: To elevate the sport of pocket billiards and protect and assist in the well being of every player.

6 yrs of Dragon P. resurrecting 14.1 and the World Championships, probably around $quarter million in prize money just for straight pool. pretty sporty IMO!
I agree 14.1 has seen a revival from their efforts

What's your point? Assuming Mark did make a statement to the effect that Johnny was a big underdog, so what? Mark is one of the true insiders in American pool and his opinion is of interest to all of us who tune in for the podcasts.

To suggest that Johnny needed any additional motivation to give it everything he had in this match is to question Johnny's professionalism. Johnny is one of the most dedicated, motivated players in the history of American pool.

Johnny may have used the fact that someone viewed him as an underdog as bulletin board material but so what. This is a player who always gives a total effort.

The only part of your post that I liked was the "LOL" opening, because this thread is nothing short of laughable.
