Terry Ardano to have major back surgery on the 19th

I just got off the phone with Terry. He is in good spirits and blown away by all the well wishers here. He truly doesn't understand how valuable he is to this forum.

Here's the situation. He is scheduled for surgery on Friday but he has a serious viral infection and the doctors are telling him they will have to postpone the surgery until he recovers from it. Terry is a tough guy and he wanted to go ahead anyway. I come from a family of doctors and I suggested that it might be best to listen to their advice. You don't want any complications when you are undergoing anesthesia. And what he's having is major surgery, four to five hours long.

He is having several bones removed and replaced with cadaver bones, plus screws and pins put in to hold it all together. He will be in a back brace for months and won't be able to sit down. He is worried that he won't be able to play pool again. I told him just be glad if you can walk normally, let alone play pool.

I asked him to find a way to keep us posted on his progress because he has a lot of friends on here. He wanted everyone to know how good it made him feel that so many people care about him. Terry is the old fashioned strong silent type who doesn't like to show any emotion but I heard it in his voice.

It looks like now his surgery will be postponed at least one week. The respiratory infection he has is a bad one and they do not want to operate until he has recovered fully. If he contacts me again I will let you know.

Hell with getting well soon. Get well now.

Terry, we'll be thinking about you, hope everything goes smoothly. I have a friend who underwent back surgery about 6 months ago, and he says he hasn't felt this good in 20 years.

Look at it this way, surgery is always a great way to get well wishes from friends, furry bunnies, balloons, special treatment from the wife, and let's not forget about painkillers....:p

Good luck and best wishes,
Michael

Best of luck Terry. May God bless you with a quick and uneventful surgery
with a very fast recovery, and many many more break and runs.

Terry, please know that you will be in my prayers for a quick recovery from this surgery, and most of all, I hope you come away from this ordeal in much better physical shape with no pain.

My best friend has had several back operations, and it is imperative to take it easy in the healing process.

You are very fortunate to be loved by this forum, but more importantly, you are surrounded by a loving family who cares about you, on this forum and off this forum.

Wishing you all the best! :)

P.S. Dont get mad at Hu for spelling your last name wrong. ;)

Just kidding, Shooting Arts! :grin-square:

Good Luck Terry!!!!

Orthopedic procedures rock in this day and age of medicine.
I have this feeling this will turn out where you will be 100% after the healing is done.
I have always felt good things happen to good people. This is going to turn out VERY good. Just be patient.
Take it from me, Ive been thru MANY procedures. Of course, its scary, but it will be fine.
BTW, the anesthesia is the bomb.:D And the pain meds arent too bad either:D

Take Care,
A

Hey Terry

I called and left you a message this morning when I found out about this.

I just want you to know that you are in my thoughts and we (me, sugar and the pack) are sending you all the good energy we can muster.

You are truly one of the good guys in this world and I wish you a smooth surgery and speedy recovery.

Give me call when you get a chance.

Brady

Hey, at least I am consistent!

Dang JEM, now my face is red! I not only spelled Terry's last name wrong, I have been spelling it wrong for ages and being the nice guy he is he has never said anything.

I just got off the phone with Terry. Looks like a nasty bug will cause them to have to reschedule the surgery. He is bummed about the postponement but understands he needs to be in the best possible shape going into the surgery.

Terry,

I have always.... ALWAYS, admired your ability to find the bright side of life and be encouraging and supportive to people. You have my admiration, respect and love for you just being a good man... a man who does good work.

I'll be there with you in my prayers. Jim

I noticed too, I just didn't want to say anything...

Looks like you owe JAM an apology now, as well.;)

Postponing the surgery until the infection goes away can only be a good thing....but it'll be that much longer before he recovers.:frown:

That's a bummer he has to wait, but it is better to wait and be sure, than to rush it and take the chance having something happen.
