Tell me how many times you've seen that one!
I finally have the reason why I am always shooting off the rail!:embarrassed2:

And exactly what angle would that be? Brunswick uses a wider angle than Diamond does, and the wider the angle is, the more the ball will bounce back and forth in the jaws of the pocket...did you know that? So, Diamond should change their pocket angles and make them easier for players like you?...hmmmm....I guess they could make them bigger upon request...you looking to order a new Diamond...one you can make balls on?:grin:I agree with you totally. A well hit ball with speed should drop and they just don't with that pocket angle.
his "skid" happened about 1:13 in.

sounded funny, looked like he had inside english on it.
What do you think??
This thread is too funny. 9000 hits and climbing. But I guess it's a good thing if it pushes the aiming threads back a little. Johnnyt
I'll tell you this.... When i was playing at the TS 2 weeks ago i had a tricky little cut in the side on the 7 ball and had to use a ton of inside top right to hold position for the 8 ball in the corner and guess what... I hit it great but the ball frickin skidded!!!! Thus leaving him the easy out. I was down 6-7 in a race to 9 when this happened so instead of a 7-7 tie it was him on the hill. Fortunetly he had a BRB right after that to close me out 9-6
Am i a little upset?? Maybe but shit happens.
Oh and Johnny... I not for or against Diamonds but ill tell you this... I understand :frown:
Been there !
If you could do it over, slow roll it using running english. Ball goes in and you stay in the side pocket area. Thats where you gotta be right ! ?
You were slow rolling right ? then no need for inside. Thats just asking for trouble imho.
No the problem was i couldnt slow roll it otherwise i would have. I had to hit it a little harder to hold the position on the 8. The cut was about a 1/8 of the ball and if i glanced off a couple or rails i would have drifted out to the middle of the table with the 8 ball resting on the rail near the first diamond. Plus this was the first day of the tournament and the cloth was brand spanking new so i opted to use english to retard the cueball. I took about a solid 2 minutes to shoot this shot... Thats how many options i had to choose from.
I hit the thing perfect with the right amount of speed and english to get the shape i needed. One MAJOR problem here... The balls slid instead of rolling into the side![]()
You want to sit here and tell everyone how they should play and how they are wrong when they can spot you the 5 out.
The part in blue is your statement also. I'm not the only one that took it the way you said it. As to your other statement, I don't even play in leagues, and your part after that, well..... that's just plain ludicrous. If you don't think I can play at all, and you think my advice that I freely give on here is B.S., then please put me on ignore.
I'm 56 and can't even read the numbers on the balls anymore. But, I can still play a little. The last pro I played was McCready, and I lost 10-8. That was in 2004 at the Glass City Open.
Sorry guys about the derailment, just trying to set the record straight a little.
I am not buying this one. Has anyone in life ever seen a static charge come from any billiard ball they have every played? NO
Billiard balls are made from a phenolic resin I believe. Phenolic resin would be an insulator not a conductor.
I guess it's possible for moisture, dirt, or chalk on the outside of the ball to pick up some static electricity but there again you are getting back to humidity, dirty balls, dirty table conditions which is what all most everyone believes what causes skids to happen and I did not need a European group to figure that one out.
I'm really confused as how this could possibly be true... but, I have a diamond at home, and balls skid a lot on it.
Makes no sense that it could be the table, though.
Don't balls skid because they're dirty?

Just between you and me....it's not the table...and it's not the cloth....so what does that leave you with?![]()
