Detroit action today?! Cohen vs Kirkwood

Chohan did win the first set of ten ball - ten ahead on the tight nine foot Gold Crown in the back room.
They started around three and it was over just before nine oclock.

They started a set of ten ahead nine ball just after nine oclock. I actually did watch that second set until about 1:20AM. It was a pretty strange match. I've certainly never seen two strong players like Kirkwood and Chohan play for three or four hours and pocket balls on the break less than one shot in five. To be honest I think 20% might even be a bit of a stretch. I'm pretty sure Kirkwood went on something like a two for sixteen drought at one point. Chohan wasn't breaking much better. I'd never really seen anything like that.
How about only four break and runs in three or four hours of play? That's the way it went. Every time a player would make a great out-they would break and come up dry or not have a shot. Most of the games averaged four of five innings at least. For every break and run there were three racks contested with seven or eight kick shots.
One of the ugliest looking battles I've seen between players that speed. Lot of fustration with the break for sure. Nobody was really *****ing though. Both players always pretty business like.
Chohan was up 4 games in the second set at 1:30AM.
He just made fewer mistakes.
Both players made several.

Well Eddie just proved that I saved money by not being there. Shows what I know. But the break not working on the table & Jason not stringing racks was surely a big disadvantage. I would confidently say that Tony would be the underdog breaking against almost anyone that he plays.

That table (#25?) is kind of slow as tables go...good for 1p but makes rotation games more difficult IMO. Glad to hear that there is action around the HOF lately.

Does anyone know who won the second set, and are Chris and Jason sticking around for some more action tonight.

Those tables are a bit tricky and that dam blue circle cue ball plays just weird.

Methinks you are a bit off. Chohan's 9b game is a tad sub-par, compared to the big boys.

I'm calling shenanigans here.

SHENANIGANS, I say! :D :D :D :D

NObody is a BIG favorite over Tony Chohan gambling, except MAYBE Orcullo, Reyes, Van Boening, Stevie Moore, and Corey, and a few of the other players who are a threat to win any world class event. Anybody else can pretty much get played even and get played hard.

Also, Tony has proven in Florida he is an upper echelon pro in 10 ball. There is a biiiiig difference between an upper echelon pro and everyone else. Look at the areas the two players have historically played in. I'm thinking California is a little tougher to fade than JK's area.

The way I see it, Chohan has DOMINATED his area, and shot almost everyone down for the big cash, wherever he has gone. Kirkwood has simply won a bit more than his fair share.

Saying Jason is a favorite even up against Chohan sounds like a local player backing his local man, but not aware of just how horrendously strong Chohan is. :D :D :D I think if you have seen both of them gambling a lot, and you think Kirkwood is a favorite at any time on a 9 footer, then you either don't know what yer looking at, or Tony was laying down, playing well enough to win.. He is known to do that, ya know... :D

I'm thinking that even playing his best, in a long ahead set, Kirkwood has to catch a gear to win. Chohan simply needs to play his normal game. Yes, it is completely possible for Kirkwood to win, but saying he is the favorite is ridiculous.

I know of another accomplished oneholer that is getting the itch again and is subject to challenge any of them.

Hey Ktown, I'm gonna take a guess that the player that you're talking about is Shannon - am I right ?.............And if I am, I hope he does scratch that itch - I'd like to see him mixing it up again.

T-Rex is probably the second best One Pocket player in the world today. There, I said it! I doubt that he and Cliff will play though. If they did, I damn sure wouldn't bet a dime. I deleted my next comments for personal reasons. I'd rather say it in person. It doesn't belong on the net.

I think that in the near future T-Rex will challenge Efren. He is the man who would like to be KING! And maybe he will be someday. Too bad that he will never be half the man Efren is though. I said that too!

I know it would be hard to bet on the guy considering his past, but you got me for a big number if he can beat Corey playing one pocket even. Obviously Corey will be in South Dakota in a few weeks so maybe Chohan will come out and get him some one hole action. I would also love to bet on Frost playing him some, but I know better. Let me know!

His rotation game is good enough to have beat quite a few superpros in the past 2 years in tournaments. Check out my other post.

Thanks for the offer Billy. I wouldn't bet a dime that he could whip a chihuahua. Does that answer your question?

Action

I know there is always talk of matching up on 7' and 9' tables. Just to let everyone know. The Qlympics will bend over backwards to instigate, or assist in making action happen.

Pat Fleming will be there to film and there is talk of an internet feed. All the tables will be Diamond Pro Cut.

November 1-18 in Louisville, KY. This is at the Clarion - not where the Derby is held - it is about 7 miles away.

Over 60 tables will be set up - more info? Go to: http://www.playbca.com/Default.aspx?tabid=246

There are 4 "US OPEN" events (14.1---full rack Banks---One Pocket---10Ball), plus amatuer events on 9' and 7' tables.

I realize this is "kinda an ad" but this event is gonna grow to be a monster.

I kinda figured you were too smart for that. Its a good thing too, cause Corey would rob him! You coming to South Dakota? From what I hear, we are going to have to bring a bunch of bills with us, everybody is going to be betting on Shane.

no way

this is not a dig but whoever thinks that tony is an underdog in this match up can get action at hof. the rail was open last night. he plays up there with the best. on the bar track, where jason is more at home on it may be different but other than that, even. the breaks were dry for all last night though and that could make a difference if those safe breaks quit happening for 1 player or another. but the table they are playing on is tight also. there is gonna be alot more action if chris and jason stay around. they were talking about leaving for columbus today. least thats what they said last night. i heard today though that they quit even and were going to play again today but don't know that for fact. i will make some calls and update if i find out. will keep ya posted.

new line

the game now is bartrum vs t rex ....10 ahead 10 ball for 8500. will post later tonight

I heard last night that J. Kirkwood and T. Cohen are set to play ten ball today at 3:00 at Hall of Fame billiards. Pretty large set. Two of the best players from the States. Should be a great match. I noticed Wiseman and Bartrum in attendance as well - something else always likely to jump off with either of those to for sure.

Sadly, I don't think I'm going to be able to check out the action, but will post an update if possible.

Eddie
Eddie,know a player named Jessie,I think,owns a couple of rooms around Detroit.Tall,red headed guy,drives a Ferarri.

Darren,

I haven't seen any of your other posts.. Welcome to the board! If you can find the time to post more often, people will become more familiar with you, and you might see sponsorship/action opportunities coming out of the woodwork.
