Earl Strickland "Walks" at BCA Exhibition?

A friend called me from the Southwest Regional 8 Ball event held at the Radisson Conference Center at Fort McDowell, Arizona, this past week saying that Earl Strickland was being harassed by a female in the audience attending his exhibition. According to my friend's account, Earl just broke down his cue and walked off. My friend and his pals traveled 100 miles to watch Earl. Needless to say, they felt cheated!

Larry,

We went to the tourney yesterday and watched Earl for quite some time. I think we were the group Ken (BRKNRUN) was talking about in his post that was talking to Earl when he was talking about his wrap.

I don't know why your friend and his friends felt cheated, as the event didn't draw many people, and Earl literally talked to the people watching like we were in his living room.

He was very cordial and entertaining. He talked with us like he knew us and told some great pool stories, talked about his cue, told us about a tennis game he had with Stan Smith, etc., and walked over to shake hands and thank us for being there when we left. I couldn't imagine more personal treatment! We went into the casino and did a little gambling and when we came back, Earl was still at the tourney talking to people even though the exhibition was over.

In the video that KoolKat9Lives put up, it looked like the same thing was going on there the day your friend was there. The chick walked up to the table and was obviously a little lit, and Earl was having a good time with her.

I've caught a lot of the Earl bashing and he does have his moments, but I sure didn't see anything except a gentleman and a legendary player at this match...

Regards,

Steve

Maybe they should have expressed their displeasure with the female and her companion "Soprano"
Nevermind. I should have known better to post before I read the WHOLE tread. Only on AZ. Johnnyt

They traveled 100 miles for an exhibition and left before Earl started the exhibition?

I bet they really will feel cheated when you tell them he was only warming up, the girl wasn't heckling him, and they missed the whole thing.

The one thing about Earl is he has more talent and ability than most people and especially the ones that want to heckle or give him a hard time always. The man did not have all the accomplishments that he has had in his career and not be talented. Sure he has had some issue's but Thats just Earl and all part of his entertainment value...LOL. There is always gonna be a fool in the crowd trying to get attention !!! <<ED

Well lots of folks go to see Earl blow up. Its kinda like going to NASCAR race waiting on a crash...

Earl is not without blame. He pretty much drove a stake in Mens Pro Pool when he walked out in Milwalkee years ago.

His performances (ok childish tantrums) in the past has fueled the desire to watch these matches and taunt him.

When Earl and Efren were battling in the 80's that was pool at its greatest. The same could be true IMO with Schmit and Harriman for straight pool.

But I dont even care anymore. They have let themselves down, they have pool down, and they have let the true fans down too.

Yea I have to admit that it is pretty funny when he does go off, I seen him this year a Valley Forge start him mumbling and stuff cause when he was playing he was sitting at the little table for the table beside the one he way playing on instead of were he was supposed to sit . Thet had them arranged so the tables were aligned at the corner pockets of each table so each pool table shared a little table with the neighboring pool table. just a chair on each side. He sat on the wrong side and when the guy had brought it to his attention he started his ranting ..lol.. Not a big scene but I was sitting right behind and I thought it was funny as hell.. He is definetly entertaining thats for sure .I hope he stays around for a long time <<ED

Finish her!!!!

Earl's revenge:grin:.

NICE! Then you just give her a good clean Mortal Combat style upper cut....MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THROUGH COMPLETELY!

Or you could just do like my boy Sub-Zero (we hang out sometimes;)) and rip her spine out.....

oh no my teefs are all broke,

Well, the exhibition I saw certainly didn't go off as explained by OP....but Earl set the precedent that makes these outrageous stories believeable. It's a pity because his exhibition was literally jaw-dropping.

The "mystery woman" was acting very odd, but it was explained that she thought she was adding to the show. She may have meant well, but when does a player of Earl's stature need an audience member to "help"?

If I can split the wicket on a snooker table i can make the CB oral inhibitor work...

That would be hard on the front teeth to get it into her mouth.....great idea though.:)

No it wouldn't.....when shooting into a tight side pocket and the OB is stuck to the titty you probably think your hooked right?

WRONG.....JUST BANG IT IN.....works like Science....

i can make it happen......

I GA-RON-TEE!!!

Wow... just wow!

For the clarification -

- Earl did not walk off from an exhibition. He was only warming up before the real exhibition. Practicing few shots, checking out the angles AND talking to fans who were sitting at side lines.
- There was a lady fan who was having "lots of fun" interacting with Earl and was clearly a huge fan because she asked for private lessons. Few jokes followed as others pointed out but she wasn't hackling him. ** Lenny ran the stream whole time.
- Earl packed up and left when he felt comfortable because he had about hour and half to kill before scheduled exhibition time.
- Earl returned to perform the free exhibition.

*** Exhibition was free to everyone who was there and also streamed at ontherail.com.

He also had another Lady from the audience come up and shoot a trick shot. 6 balls, 1 in each pocket. She nailed it, first time.

I am glad we got the record straight from folks that actually knew what happened.. Heresay is just that and often untrue.. as we have demonstrated here by the OP..

Sounds like Cross Side Larry doesn't know what he's talking about. How about a follow up post Cross Side Larry???....crickets

Either that or you need some new friends....LOL.

In the early '80s, Willie Mosconi set up that shot for me in Rockville, MD at a pool room called "Let's Play Games." I nailed it.

If I remember correctly, I think it was Sunny on that shot.
P.S. Some of Earl's stoke shots were amazing.
