What AZ'er(s) You've Never Met But Would Like To - And Optionally, Why?

Far too many to list. So far, every one I've met has been pretty special, and I suspect that will be true for each in the future.

I would like to meet many AZers, especially the ones I have traded, bought or sold cues with. But the last time I was in Los Angeles I met w/a few guys, but was not able to meet w/Chris Tate. So...

I would like to meet Tate if I had to narrow it down to one (but that's impossible) :).

Well the list would be also long- and to miss someone is easy..
But for sure if i would made it to the USA, then 4 weeks wouldn t be enough, because i would have to travel to too many states at least, lol!

Just a few, and i excuse that i really just name some guys now:)

Mike Grosso, David Sapolis, Randy Goettlicher, justadub, Sean Fleinen, The "2 Kurtz", Ray Martin, Fran Crimi, S. Lee, Max Eberle, Rufus Carter, George Fels, Dave Segal, John Barton, accoustic guru, Bryan Mordt, Tikkler, Tattoo-Ralf and many many more!

And of course all of my *online students* :-)

lg from overseas,
Ingo

TheThaiger...I have a feeling that none of us would play good enough for you (although many of us would likely run over you like a Mac truck)! Afterall, everybody knows instructors can't play!

Ok here's the low down. If you're gonna play the instuctor, do it first thing when you see their face. By the time they're done instructing you, it's gonna be months before you regain and exceed the speed they found you at. Changes take a while to kick in, and then only with practice and commitment.

Iba

I wish sometimes I never met IBA he comes up with new ways to take my money every time I see him.

I would love to meet almost everyone. Flip for a drink. I have met many of the posters I would really want to meet but I guess I have to say:

Johnnyt
Terry Ardeno
Kieth McCready/JAM
dannyb

Aw, shucks. I hope we meet someday too. I can tell you're a real gentleman, a rarity in today's pool world.

You and I have actually spoken on the phone. I couldn't get over how much you sound just like Liljon with that sweet Southern accent. I'm a sucker for a Southern drawl. Love it! :smiling-heart:

I have met dannyb, though he may not remember me. I've seen him in many a tournament in my area. He's always been serious about pool, whether in a tournament or gambling setting. I'd say he's good pool peeps.

Terry Ardeno, I did meet one time at SBE, but it was brief. I have communicated with him several times offline via phone and PMs. He's a very kind man, generous, and is very passionate about the history of pool. We could use a few more just like him in this pool world, I tell you.

Johnnyt, he'd definitely be on my list too. I know he's got pool running in his blood, just like we all do, and I'd really enjoy hanging out with him on the rail and sweat a few matches. I think it would be fun!

I'd like to meet Corvette, just to give him a hug. I think we'd share a few laughs in our conversation.

I want to meet Lind. I know I may never have that opportunity, but I just want to.

I definitely would like to meet Mr. Wilson someday. He doesn't live too far from me. Out of all the AzB-ers, he's top on my list to meet. I like a man who goes against the current for what he believes is right. It's a tough job being moderator of a pool forum. I don't know how he does it -- for free, no less.

Without naming names, there is one member of this forum I would enjoy meeting in person, up front and close, so I let them know my thoughts about some topics. I haven't been able to write my true thoughts on this forum, and so having the opportunity to say them to his/her face will allow me to tell it like it is and put a few things to rest that have been stuck in my craw, as I read their one-sided words based on no foundation whatsoever. Those who laugh last will laugh best, and I can't wait to enjoy laughing at this creep when the curtain falls. This megalomaniac continues to exist in his/her self-absorbed little fantasy world.

Believe it or not, I have met quite a few AzB-ers on the tournament trail in the past, and I hope to get back on this trail soon and meet a few more. It's fun to put a face to the name. I'd love to pick a lobster with Justadub, wolf down a few crawfish with Shooting Arts and JoeyA. Why does everything surround food?! :embarrassed2:

I'd enjoy hanging out with Sfleinin and discuss punctuation topics. :p

Oh, how I would enjoy getting to know the AnitoKid. What a breath of fresh air he is, and I kid you not!

Though not a member here anymore, I always thought that meeting Drivermaker would be cool. He's got a creative mind. I recognize he's got a strong intelligence quota. His creativity and sense of humor have tickled my funny bone more than once, though it's been a long while since I have read him. I think he'd be a hoot to hang out with for an evening of pool! :D

I admire a woman who stands by her man and does it with style. Sunnyday is like a ray of sunshine on AzBilliards. I would love to meet her.

Blackjack would definitely be someone I'd love to chat with at length. He is so passionate about pool, but first and foremost, he's just such a nice person. I admire him a lot from afar for sure. He's also cute! ;)

One of the most misunderstood members is Smokey. I would just like to shake his hand and let him know how much I appreciate his contributions to this forum. This is a first-class gentleman in so many ways.

PT109, Rayjay, Bluehog Rider, Mojoe, Sev, LWW, Maniac, Jason, Manwon, each one of these guys are special, and I never hesitate to read anything they write.

Cuejoey and JimS, two Azb-ERS who go out of their way to make positive contributions to this forum do not go unnoticed by me. Both of them are an asset to this forum!

I can't forget C.Milian. She's quite special and someone who I have to put on my list to meet someday.

Freddy the Beard, so I can discuss offline a certain match between him and a mutual friend -- <wink> -- but most importantly, I know he's a good man. I like him.

I know I am forgetting some names that will come to me later.

JAM,

Why does everything revolve around food? Because we have our priorities straight! Cuebuddy came to town a few days ago and we went to my favorite Tex-Mex place that I have been eating at for twenty years or so. Another day we went to my favorite seafood place that I have been eating at for twenty years or so. A pattern begins to emerge! Not very original of me but I hope to show you and Keith one or both places when you get down here. I was just interrupted in midpost by hot buttered blueberry muffins. Being a reasonable person I stopped in mid keystroke to take care of more important matters. The enjoyment of good food is the priority for me!

As soon after Katrina as was reasonably possible I checked on my favorite restaurants. The Tex-Mex place was in ruins. The roof was off, ceiing down, walls ruined, debris everywhere, I was seriously worried I would lose the place. The seafood place fared a little better. Some of my favorite haunts disappeared never to return but fortunately my favorites are back and as good as ever. Ordered the seafood platter last week, an exercise in gluttony. The platters were brought out a few minutes before the fried oysters, big plump Louisiana oysters, were ready. No sitting in a warmer waiting for one thing. When the oysters came on side trays there were more oysters than I often get in an entree other places! Embarrassed to say for the first time ever I had to get a go plate before I left. However after catching my second wind I finished it before I got home with it!

Got to go put my brother on a great silver bird, hectic morning.

I've been fortunate enough to meet dozens of forum members over the years, including Scott Lee and Randy G. Those of you who mentioned meeting them for lessons, I can tell you it's the best gift you'll ever give yourself and your game.

I travel quite a bit for a living and when I know I'm going to be around with some down time in a new town, I typically reach out to folks on this forum. To date, no one has ever turned me down to meet, play, and laugh together. We're all bound by this addictive game and it creates bonds immediately.

As I write this, I'm enroute to Phoenix for the next few days. Unfortunately, I don't really have any time available to meet except for Tuesday evening and that will have to be an early night as I've got a stupidly early flight on Wednesday. But if anyone wants to, I'm game!

Coming to a city near you!

I like these kinds of threads. Heck, I even made two of the lists (Jam and Sean: You two are most definitely at the top of my list of AZB'ers I'd like to meet).

Like a lot of posters have said, there's just too many to name.

Hu would be up on the upper end of my list because I could enjoy throwing competitive shooting into our conversations.

Folks with great senses of humor/witty would be high on the list. Like Black-Balled, BlueHogRider, etc. (once again, too many to list).

People who shoot about my speed with a nice demeanor would rate high on my list. justadub quickly comes to mind here, but there are many others.

This list is very hard to NOT have several HUNDRED names on it :embarrassed2:!!!

Maniac (loves you ALL, really!)

Thank You Ingo !!!

I was just thinking of people to put on my list, which is a lot more difficult since i have already met a bunch of AZ'ers. Your Name was the first that i thought of!

my list is:

Ratta (ingo from overseas)
Blackjack (Dave Sapolis)
14-1straightman (Mike Grasso)
Dr9ball (Rufus Carter)

If i had to make a list of all that i have met from here on AZ and the ones that i enjoyed meeting the most....that list would be huge !!!

-Steve

My list is much like what the others have mentioned. But I can strike two off of it now Hu and Joey A. Joey took a little time off around mid day and we talked and shot pool. We both jumped out of our comfort zone and played on a Valley bar box, it has been around 20 years since I shot on the small tables.

Hu is the real deal and a consummate ambassador of the area. Hu knows the history and many tips on what to see and what to avoid in the area.
As good as Hu is with words, a pic is worth 750 words. It would have been worth a thousand words but I never took a pic of the plate of Oysters and they were awesome.

I just missed meeting Lock N Load at Buffalo's but it was cool to see the place especially on a rainy day.

i know i'll forget a few but some of the people i think i'd really like to meet are, in no order;
justin from TAR
beav99
black balled
kool kat 9 lives
keith mccready (legends of any field are interesting to talk to and i think he'd have the mortal lock nuts on stories to tell - jam where's that book?)
disco - i want the photoshop knowledge
sc5 - just to say "hi" in person and see if he speaks the same way in person as he does in pm;)
lastly, but certainly not least, john barton. after all the crap we have said to each other we still talk on a civil level here. i'd like to grab a beer with him and just shoot the breeze. and to pull one of john's signature moves i'll put up $1000 to his $10 we'd have a few good laughs at least.

I would like to meet and play Freddie Boy in a race to 3 Masters sets so I could possibly qualify to post on aiming threads, assuming that I beat him.

Man, you've got low expectations, lol.

As for me, I've been really lucky in meeting alot of the great AZers. I would love to eventually run into bigskyjake, jrt3004, Superstar, Mahnamahna, dora and many others.

The ultimate would be getting me, JCIN, bignasty, bigskyjake, easy-e, disco, cleary, JOEY, Ktown and marsman together for a proper weekend in Vegas. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of bail money needed to fund that venture.

I've surely met a few hundred AZ posters over the years, but two with whom I've had a great deal of interaction on the forum for years but have yet to meet are Terry Ardeno and JAM. Hope I get the chance one day.

To all who have submitted a list of posters to meet, if you haven't met AZHOUSEPRO (Mike Howerton), the founder of and visionary behind AZB, he should be at the top of your list. Mike has made an enduring contribution to our sport and I'm always pleased when our paths cross.
