Backer Wanted for Million Dollar Challenge - Mike Davis

In the past, fellow player John Schmidt had a wonderful opportunity given to him by Purdman when it came to the U.S. Open. So, I thought I would give it a shot myself and see if there is anyone out there willing to back me for Allen Hopkins Million Dollar Challenge event. The entry is $5000 and travel expenses would include flight, hotel, etc.

It has been stated that the event will happen no matter how many players they get, but it may not ultimately end up being a million dollar payout.

If anyone is interested in this offer, please contact me via private message and we can negotiate the terms. This is an event that would be an excellent opportunity for me attend and I am looking forward to hearing from anyone interested in being a part of it with me.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike's a good horse! He is a premier player! I think if you win one match, you get your money back. Deep pay outs.

Mike is an awesome guy and totally deserves an opportunity to participate. He works hard getting around on the pro circuit. I met him in Reno and he always took time to talk to fans and answer pool questions. By the way, he won the Reno Open that year.

Mike has been to a coouple of my events and is a class act. Truly one of the good guys in the game today.

Also, the man plays very hard. I wish I were in the position to do something here, but, I'm not right now.

Good luck Mike.

Good luck to you, Mike. I hope you receive the sponsorship. You always fare well in tournament play, especially at Valley Forge. I think you almost won the pro event there. The format for the final match is the only thing that stood in your way. Otherwise, I think you would have won the whole shebang.

Lots of pool happenings in August. Right before the Million-Dollar 9-Ball Shootout tournament at Valley Forge is the $25,000-added Joss Turning Stone Casino event, which occurs in Verona, NY on August 14-17,2008.

For anyone interesting in learning more about the Million Dollar 9-Ball Shootout, August 6-10, 2008, here's the website: http://www.milliondollar9ball.com/

There is even a page on this website for players and sponsors alike to get involved in the action: http://www.milliondollar9ball.com/sponsors.html

August is chockful of pool. Should be a good month for some lucky pool player, and I hope it is you, Mike! :)

Bump...

to keep this post up at the top for a good guy and a great player. Mike Davis is a gentleman, a class act all the way - you can't go wrong here. His PM box should be flooded with offers right now!

If no one steps up to the plate, couldn't we do this like a raffle... 60 tickets for 100 bucks a piece will give him $6000 and the winner of the raffle gets to be his stake horse and has a chance to win a percentage of his winnings.

Just throwing another option out there... I'd like to see Mike win another big one.

I tried sending you a pm but it wouldnt let me...anyway i saw your request on here and i'm sure you'll find someone or someones to give you a hand....Maybe post some of your achievements on here and give some of these fine folks a little history about yourself. I know they will be impressed...
cya at they next tourney buddy...=)

It is so sad that a player of this calibre needs to resort to asking a forum for backing into an event like this. Where the heck is this sport that one of the top players in the USA does not have sponsers jumping at the chance to sponser Mike into an event like this?

And people on this very forum attack the ideas such as casino's sponsering events and applaud the events like the Derby where players gamble each other half of them going broke all the while the sport is going nowhere because the event is under the radar in the extreme and totally unhyped outside the close knit pool community.

God I pray for the day pool will be an actual professional sport.

thanks to all for their kind words. there was a problem with my private messages so if you sent one after the thread was posted, please re-send.

Mike, how much do you think you need minimum?

Bump to the top for a superb gentleman and easily the best player in this area...and we have some talent! For those who don't know...some rankings have Mike listed at #5 in the world. He also recently won a large tournament in Korea I believe. Mike Davis is truly capable of beating anyone & winning ANY event...and doing so with great class. I'm sure plenty will be proud to put Mike in the box for this event. Worse case senario...I agree the raffle is a great idea & would give many AZ'ers a horse to sweat.

Play in the qualifier...

Mr Davis, You are welcome to come to Florida and play in the qualifier. The buy in is $400 you can read about it here.

It would be my honor to have you play. It might be easier to get backing this way. Just a thought.
